When you shoot yourself in a foot that you’ve already stuck in your mouth, there’s a good chance you’ll blow your head off.

Today California and five other states render their verdicts in the presidential primaries.  And what boggles my mind are the choices that I and other Americans are presented by the country’s major political parties.  One is a lying, thieving, corrupt crook with no demonstrated skills in statecraft.  And the other is an egomaniac with the demonstrated communication skills of an irritated 3rd grader on the school playground, also with no demonstrated skills in statecraft.

VotingParaphernaliaThe shrill progressive candidate promises to deliver a Clintonesque version of Obama 3.0 (complete with expanded services the Clinton Foundation can then offer to world leaders and corporatists) while continuing to usher the US on a path to domestic autocracy and failed European socialism cum globalism.  While correctly pointing out why Americans are disgusted with government, the haircut confuses objectives with plans to achieve said objectives with ‘Just trust me to make America great again.’  But sporting a world-class diaphanous skin, this TV star can easily be pulled off message by any real or imagined slight to his inflated persona.  And there we see him today taking aim at guess which foot.

So what to do?  Vote for the surefire crook and lying progressive without a resume, or the braggart who has at least demonstrated he can manage companies and make money in the market place.  The problem is that all the world’s bad guys know that Hillary is a corrupt hockey puck, but they know nothing about and are more than apprehensive of the guy with the loud mouth.  Given these considerations, and that The Donald will be more inclined to work with Congress and surround himself with smart people (which, save Gates, Obama couldn’t for eight years), we firmly affixed nose clamps and voted for Trump.

[8jun16 update]  Congratulations are in order to Ms Heidi Hall for her successful campaign to become Nevada County’s newest Supervisor.  And if the lady remains true to her ideological heritage, then condolences are also in order for our county.  In any event, Duane Strawser showed us all that a lackadaisical approach to elective office will not work, especially for a newcomer going against a handsome, experienced, and energetic opponent.  And that doubly so when about a third of your supportive constituents sit on their collective ass instead of getting up the gumption to vote.

Add Ms Hall’s victory to the debate on Measure W and its downfall yesterday, and it becomes clear why our sheriff and the current BoS wanted to constrain the latitude of future supervisors in crafting ordinances about MJ production in our county.  While I was not in favor of legislating the county’s MJ production rules through popular initiatives, I remain supportive to the concerns and predicted impact that outdoor grows have on our quality of life and local economy.  The new BoS will now have a go at reshaping ‘emergency’ Ordinance 2405.

From a higher vantage our Republicans really don’t have a leg to stand on as they lament the spread of progressivism into the hinterlands.  If they cannot make a suitable (palatable?) case for the Right-thinking grass roots to vote, then we all will suffer from America’s current blight of rampant collectivism as we recall the history of socialism unopposed.  It was ever thus.

Get off your high horse. Yours is a VERY presumptive statement: “I note the Left rejecting Hillary’s sins at State because no congressional committee has named her personally culpable.”
I am to your left yet have no such notion regarding “rejecting Hillary’s sins . . ” I don’t personally know ANYONE who does and I hang with a fairly large and diverse political crowd. You like numbers and I have given you one. Zero. Please quantify “the Left” who “reject Hillary’s sins . . . ” in numbers. I know there are blind, pie in the sky people who do, but I’m guessing it is a fraction of “the Left.”

Wow Todd you’re on such a creative, hard hitting roll today!
If you don’t believe the shift in demographics, just read the funny letter from a Ms. Patricia Anderson in the Union today, lamenting the fact that Bay Area types have taken over Grass Valley, with demands for things such as good internet, and bringing things such as garbage, traffic, general mayhem and MURDER with them. Murder for gods sake! Is our murder rate skyrocketing due to Bay Area transplants? LOL.

Agree again with smith. Everyone I know acknowledges Hillary’s sins. She acknowledges them for gods sake. I know Drumpf to be a sinner and sleazeebag beyond human comprehension. Taking a lesson from Christianity, we are a forgiving nation and a nation looking ahead. Which candidate has the best vision for the present and future of America? It ain’t Donald Drumpf, the sinner.

Give you credit for being the only human in Nevada County to observe this. Same kinda powers that had Romney winning by 7 in 2012 I presume.:)
I will keep posting your quotes for posterity if you don’t mind. Hilarious stuff. Although everyone sees that District 2 is a conservative bastion, one District does not a County make. With the oldest demographics, this too will change one day. Young folks are not flocking to gated communities.

re jons 1002am – An excellent example of leftwing blindness. The man has no idea that Hillary’s success nationwide is ONLY due to the Left rejecting her sins in toto. She has not become the Dem’s presidential nominee because her constituents recognized her screw ups while in public office.

LOL. You are in rare form today Todd :). Can I ask you couple questions based on your insistence of conservative trends in yesterday’s election?
    1. Would you have done better than Duane had you run for the seat?
    2. You say property rights was the big issue in the W vote. Can you give an example of which conservative groups or individuals (other than CABPRO) came out for NO on W prior to yesterday? Since you claim CABPRO is just a shell today without your wise leadership, they certainly cannot have that much sway with the voters. Please name some conservatives who were in the NO ON W camp.
    Thank you.

Astounding delusional observation Todd even by your standards. In reality Nevada County is now a Democratic County. Even La Malfa lost within our boundaries to Dem Jim Reed. Perhaps you are claiming W lost because of property rights concerns. Heidi Hall won in a landslide and yes Ed Scofield did win one for the Pubbers. The Supes and Sheriff rolled the dice on W and lost big time.

As it stands now, Clinton will win Nevada County in the fall by 3-5 points MINIMUM. LaMalfa is toast again in our County in November- almost everyone I know on both sides is tired of his obstruction and ready for change in that Congressional district. Its going to be his closest election ever, that is for sure. With a better campaign this go-round, Reed has an outside shot.

Jon Dozer, give the token woman in the Sierra Business Council executive suite my congratulations… since I last taunted the CEO for their inability to hire any blacks or Asians, and the solid white maleness of the top management, the female office manager has been promoted to Vice President, Finance. Way to go!
They still don’t have any black or Asian DNA to speak of on staff, so the rehabilitation of the SBC brand from progressive in aspiration to progressive in deed is still a work in progress.
Finally, congratulations on being the abysmal winner. We knew you could be graceless, bravo!

Well, I don’t have a dog in most of these fights. I have met Duane 3-4 times and he was very nice to me and all. So was his wife and kids and dog. Seems too bad he got trashed because he associated with the Dark Side. As far as W goes, time will tell. Those who want to balance medicine with growing pot in the breeze where you please by those who don’t give darn about patients, good luck. No solution will make everybody happy.
For the first time ever in decades, I did not vote. Nothing about this election cycle mind you, but my postal street address is different from county street address. Been that way for many years. One gummit agency spells it differently than another (just one letter omitted, a typo for before my time I reckon). Any whose, I got a PO Box cause hooligans keep busting my mailbox down the way so I finally got a PO Box…..well, anything now with the county spelling (taxes, ballots, etc) gets rejected on my change of address form to the PO box and only the POst Office spelling of my humble address is forwarded…..like nothing important. Better men than moi have tried to resolve this issue. No junk mail now, so always a silver lining. So, I can’t bitch pro or con. Otherwise I would be a hypocrite. Always said voting is a right to bitch…no voting, no bitching.
With that said, I sure hope HH is a lot smarter than her mentor and political idle, one Nancy Poliski…er..Phuloskii, er…that woman.

Yep. That’s why the most rabidly pro W constituents live in highly conservative sub divisions such as Alta Sierra and Lake Wlldwood. The same conservative sub divisions where self-proclaimed libertarian private property advocates dictate what color light bulbs you can have on your porch, where to park the motor home, and what plants you can’t grow in your garden. Todd, face it, your kind don’t practice what you so loudly preach.

So Todd is saying measure W failed because of Conservative property rights advocates voting no therefore making it a Conservative cause. Todd aren’t those the same voters that installed the majority of Supervisors that conceived of W. So it was a rebellion of those thought to be loyal troops that caused W to fail. Is my analysis correct or is it something else?

Paul, good question. By Todd’s logic and with that same rebellious bunch of property rights voters, it follows that Districts 3 and 4 are likely to go progressive/Democratic in the next election cycle. A 4-1 BOS, with lonely Ed Scofield casting many opposing votes.

There are certainly more than three “progressive” commenters in Nevada County, but when a known “progressive” gets tossed out on his ass for cause, and a brand spanking new sock puppet arrives with the same burrs under his saddle soon afterwards, well, it’s easy to conclude the similarity is for the usual reasons.

    Regarding Mr. Boardman’s 2:49 pm.
Resentment can destroy one’s day. You really should work on that, Mr. B, or else I will get free rent in your head. One way to overcome resentment is to recognize your part in it. Confess your sins, so to speak. Search your hardened heart and let the light shine in and melt those ice cubes away. The better method is to pray daily for me until your resentment evaporates. Take a walk, go see a movie, and be proactive. Your resentment will not go away simply by wishing. You need want power. Resentment means to “re-feel” or feel all that yucky stuff each time my glorious name pops into your once clear calm melon. You must deal with your negative emotions before it ruins your life. Good Gawd, man, get to work and come to the light. Otherwise you will end up in divorce court, your neighbor’s will start flipping you off (more frequently) and your own dog will look at you with contempt.
Mr. Boardman, start now to uncover, discover, and discard your self destructive emotions. It will destroy you and all you love. Please, for the sake of yourself and your future contributions to humanity, rid your mind, emotions, and soul of this poison before it is to late.
You don’t want to be labeled as an angry bitter white guy with a propensity to violence do you? If you do nothing, you will morph into a whinny blamer for everything that did not go right in your life and you will blame me. In plain English, rid yourself of resentment or you will turn into a lib head, a fate reserved for The Living Dead. Save yourself from a fate worse than death. You can do it! Like losing weight, it takes effort.
Peace out bro, dig your fro. Gimme 5 on the white side.
