Obamacare has been an unmitigated disaster for the healthcare industry and our nation. Its harm will grow without bound the longer it is allowed to stay on the books. The only remarkable thing about Obamacare is how the government and the lamestream have coordinated their efforts to keep its unfolding truth from the general public. A good fraction of the country believes that Obamacare has actually taken a big step to improving healthcare in America. In reality Obamacare is a most corrupt program riddled with secret exceptions and subsidies to keep the thing from The suppressed daily news tells a far different story.

On a brighter note, this man is fun to follow. Safe to say that there is no apology tour scheduled on his itinerary.
“Just because you’re a journalist you are not exempted from assassination, if you’re a son of a bitch,” Duterte said when asked how he would address the problem of media killings…..
Duterte, who won last month’s elections in a landslide after pledging to kill tens of thousands of criminals, told reporters on Tuesday there was justification for killing journalists who took bribes or engage In corruption.

Concerning Obamacare:
I remember well debating the costs of Obamacare under much ridicule and derision. I pointed out that the economy would have to grow at 4% to even break even at best and that ain’t gonna happen. Oh, the laughing started with experts being quoted forecasting 4-6% and it would reduce the debt to boot. That was on the Union blog, but the writing style and arrogance is reminiscent of one of our lefty posters.
If I recall even semi-accurately, a President of the US said it would not cost the taxpayers one cent. No even one thin dime, one tenth of a dollar. Hurry, hurry, hurry. Step right on up and see The Greatest Show on Earth.
Later I bought a humble abode. It was finalized in mi-Dec. The bank told me it was a good thing the papers were signed before the end of the year, otherwise there was an Obamacare tax on real estate transactions starting in Jan the following year.
Well, if you buy a house today, the Obamacare Tax will cost you a couple of coins more than one red cent.
My personal physician in Auburn told last visit he took Obamacare and it almost broke him. His voice rose louder than than usual. Louder than the time he screamed at me “Do you want to die?, do you want to die?” during his non-smoking lecture. Hmmm. What got into him? All I asked was his take on Obamacare. Then he added he longer takes Medicaid (MediCal) either. Now he has National Review type mags in his office. He must be going through the change or something. He was such a believer in Obamacare for his suffering patients just 6 years ago. Puzzling.
All in all, I would settle for the economy growing at a meager 3.6%.LikeLike

Thanks President Hope n Change!
“Thanks to Obamacare, it is frequently better for a middle class family to get no raise than even a decent sized raise.”
and of course…..the money shot.
“Thanks to Obamacare, it is better for the average childless couple in California to make $63,000 than $72,000. Things are really horrendous if someone makes $64,000.
Taking Obamacare, federal, and state taxes into consideration, a couple that makes $63,000 annually takes home $48,770. A couple that makes $64,000 takes home $42,360!
Varones calculates the marginal tax rate of that extra $1,000 in income to be 741%.”

A note from a correspondent again underlines that California is a mecca for fraudulent voting. The dimensions of our state’s fraud are many. Most recently even lamestream outlets like CBS report that “California is the only state that does not comply with the Help America Vote Act of 2002, something the Obama administration has basically ignored.” Why is it only the Left that ignores and/or supports voter fraud, often under the guise of championing ‘voting rights’? Here’s more –

Hey, it finally dawned on some why this guy seems so familiar. Hillary really needs better advisors. She has 703 full time staff, Trump has 70. With 10 times the lawyers and consultants and paid staff than Trump, one would think somebody of the 703 would help her present her image in a more favorable light.

Administrivia – OK boys and girls, I’m tired of having to scroll multiple pages to find the latest comment under a post. So I’ve reversed the order in which they will be displayed – the most recent comment will be on top, and then they will age as they descend. All this is due to the deranged popularity of our sandboxes which rapidly develop long comment streams consisting of multiple topic threads. Hope you all will agree that this may be an improvement.

Here is a litmus test –
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
If a conservetarian doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservetarian is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservetarian is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a conservetarian is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
If a liberal is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservetarian doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
A liberal demands that those they don’t like be shut down.
If a conservetarian is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
If a conservetarian decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
If a liberal decides he needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for his.LikeLike

Anti-marijuana activist Bessee references “bovine scatology” in our local newspaper
Posted on June 1, 2016 by jeffpelline
You can’t make this stuff up! The Union’s Op-Ed page includes commentary from Measure W’s self-appointed spokesman Don Bessee referring to “bovine scatology” as he seeks to inform and educate the rest of us — in the first sentence no less.
Our community has become a magnet for people like Don.
How can we ever hope to recruit college-educated millennials? Or just plain college-educated people? LOL.I wonder what Dr. Phil (jeffys go to authority on matters mental health related) would say about his oft repeated and to the untrained eye unhealthy obsession with “millennials”?
Looking at him I don’t think it’s sexual….surely even he can’t be that deluded.
The only other possibility, horrifying though it may be……CANNIBALISM.

First, cannibalism is not to be passed around lightly. They done ate up two of my people’s finest and bravest millennials up at Truckee Indian Pass above Truckee Lake. White people like to eat until they become very fat which means no millennials, no supper for you. Big rumbly in the tummy means hungry Little Big Man. Incoming!
Now let us reason together Mr. Fish. I had a good thing going with Mr. Anderson until you showed one day and stole him away from me. I may suck, but you are a hussy..
So, after that, you head straight to My Gal. Everybody knows she is my gal. Then you wormed your way in by saying (months later) “our gal”. I almost choked on that word “our”. Now I get leftovers according to you? You are a very sneaky bad person, Mr. Fish. Shame, shame, shame.
I am too upset to continue typing. Best I go out and chop wood. I am handy with the throwing ax….opppps, I have no idea where that came from. She’s My Gal. Mine. Here, I will let My Gal speak for herself on such matters.

Dr.R@709pm – I am not sure I agree with the term ‘liberal’ being used to describe attributes contrary to the ‘conservatarian’ (Fusionist?) principles outlined in this litmus test.
My first inclination would be to call ‘liberals’ with the points of view described in the litmus test as self-righteous, over-controlling, busybodies who need to mind their own business!
The litmus test conservatarian sounds like a live and let live kind of guy.
The litmus test liberal is trying to come up with a defense for all the a-holes who take advantage of others for their own gain without regard to the long term damage resulting from their own callousness or short-term thinking.
Cause -effect – liberal legislation solution
Lead water pipes – poisons people – outlaw lead water pipe (EPA)
Guns – kill people – outlaw guns (ATF)
Meat – production contaminates environment, uses much water, crops – (RWQCB, EPA, FDA, USDA)
MMJ/RMJ cultivation – production contaminates environment, uses much water – Measure W mindset, RWQCB, A(MJ)TF, FDA, USDA etc.
AirBnB – allows out-of-town visitors to live in R-1 zones for a couple of nights, displaces low income local employees, guests park cars on street – Measure Y mindset
What do the above examples have in common? Some people/corporations operating on short-term greed motive with ignorance or carelessness or disregard for their neighbors. Should overarching regulations be enacted to legislate the behavior of a few existing or potential a-holes?
How much (insert pet issue here) does a conservatarian put up with before they are willing to outlaw or enact legislation (and how extreme should the legislation be) in an attempt to remedy a given ‘problem’?LikeLike

BradC 953am – Good repartee. The simplistic litmus test in my 709pm only highlights the automatic tendency of the Left to IMMEDIATELY seek solutions that involve a more comprehensive involvement of government in our lives. As Garrett Hardin pointed out, there are ways government can respond, without increasing its reach and grasp, that draws out individual/local behaviors to solve problems. And, of course, there is the always the dictum for government to ‘do nothing, sooner’ from Ludwig von Mises. The Hardin and Mises approaches depart from what today has polarized into those of the hard Left collected under labels like ‘liberal’, ‘progressive’, ‘socialist’, … and other descriptors of the collectivist persuasion.

Dear Climate Skeptics Heads Up:
The first amendment is now dead in California: New California bill would allow prosecution of climate-change skeptics
A landmark California bill gaining steam would make it illegal to engage in climate-change dissent, clearing the way for lawsuits against fossil-fuel companies, think-tanks and others that have “deceived or misled the public on the risks of climate change.”
The first-of-its-kind legislation — Senate Bill 1161, or the California Climate Science Truth and Accountability Act of 2016 — is scheduled for floor action Thursday after clearing Senate committees in April and May.
The measure would allow state and local prosecutors to pursue claims against climate-change skepticism as a violation of the state’s Unfair Competition Law [UCL], as well as extend the four-year statute of limitations for such claims retroactively to Jan. 1, 2021.
“This bill explicitly authorizes district attorneys and the Attorney General to pursue UCL claims alleging that a business or organization has directly or indirectly engaged in unfair competition with respect to scientific evidence regarding the existence, extent, or current or future impacts of anthropogenic induced climate change,” says the state Senate Rules Committee’s floor analysis.
More information here: https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/06/02/the-first-amendment-is-now-dead-in-california-new-california-bill-would-allow-prosecution-of-climate-change-skeptics/
This is mind blowing, they are suspending the statute of limitations with this language:
342.5.
(a) (1) Notwithstanding Section 17208 of the Business and Professions Code, an action pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 17200) of Part 2 of Division 7 of the Business and Professions Code against a corporation, firm, partnership, joint stock company, association, or other organization of persons that has directly or indirectly engaged in unfair competition, as defined in Section 17200 of the Business and Professions Code, with respect to scientific evidence regarding the existence, extent, or current or future impacts of anthropogenic-induced climate change that would otherwise be barred as of January 1, 2017, solely because the statute of limitation has or had expired, is revived and, in that case, the action may be commenced within four years of January 1, 2017. Nothing in this subdivision shall be construed to alter the applicable limitation period of an action that is not time barred as of January 1, 2017.
Question: Will skeptical global warming blogs that allow advertising be threatened? Could Watts Up With That, the most read skeptical climate change blog be a target, because it is unfair to anthropogenic global warmer bloggers who do not have any readers? How about this blog?LikeLike

Update: California Senate shelves bill enabling lawsuits against climate “deniers” — for now
By Walter Olson
The California Senate has shelved, at least for now, a bill that would lay the groundwork for a campaign of lawsuits against so-called climate deniers. The California Climate Science Truth and Accountability Act of 2016 (Senate Bill 1161), which had passed two committee hurdles, would retrospectively lift what is now a four-year statute of limitations so as to allow unlimited lawsuits under the state’s notoriously pro-plaintiff Unfair Competition Law, or s. 17200, over advocacy related to climate change. While the deadline has now passed for the bill to be enacted on its own under ordinary legislative procedure, it could still pass this year under “gut-and-amend” procedures or a rules waiver. [Valerie Richardson/Washington Times and earlier, Andrew Stuttaford/National Review, Watts Up with That, thanks for quotes in all; earlier]

DonB 1133am – Good invite Mr Bessee. I encourage readers to submit their estimates on the pro-W vote percentage using the MAB approach taught here. My own submission – [48%, 53%, 50.5%, 0.4]. Jo Ann’s is [48%, 55%, 51.5%, 0.6]. Note that both of us (with our lower limits less that 50%) believe there is a chance that W will fail. Here’s the MAB discussion.

It is a voter turnout issue. Too many inactive Republican voters.LikeLike

RussS 102pm – Interesting prognostication Russ. Your pessimism about Republican turnout explains why you are predicting that W will pass with probability 0.160, or about 1 out of 6. While Jo Ann and I are much more optimistic, predicting passage at 0.902 and 0.872 respectively. I guess we’re more optimistic about the Republican turnout next Tuesday. Our mean percentages for W are 51.5% (Jo Ann) and while I believe that it will squeak by with 50.5% of the vote. You believe W will fail getting only about 48.7% of the vote. I guess the turnout will also depend on what kind of fuss will result from the Hillary/Donald foreign policy exchanges between now and Tuesday. Fun times.

Look at the Voter Audit Statistics:
Active Dem Voters 23,766
Active Rep Voters 23,087
Inactive Dem 12,995
Inactive Rep 15,211
Democrats are adding active voters fasters than the Republicans in Nevada County. Add in “I am not voting for Trump” crowd, who will not even go to vote, and the Republican turnout starts to get too thin.LikeLike

I read that the Sheriff has beating the bushes down in Lake of the Pines looking to sway voters there and would expect similar stories coming out of other big subdivisions like Lake Wildwood and Alta Sierra – plenty of targets of opportunity there for a Yes on W vote. But I see many No on W signs in the downtown areas. When Measure S was up for a vote, I was surprised to hear from people I knew that were involved in the MJ trade in one way or another saying they were not going to support Measure S.
I also heard on the street that there some wouldbe No on W voters up here who cannot vote because they are not registered to vote in this county.
Then again, some voters might vote no on W because they don’t understand, or are confused why we need a ballot measure if we already have a ban in place.
I will go with W failing with 49.5% of the vote, confidence not that high, considering the S supporter vote turnout which was not that great.LikeLike

Brad. The dope growers you spoke to that didn’t want “S” to pass, probably saw their profit margin taking a big hit.
Plenty of “no on “W” ” with “vote for Sanders” down in my branch of the weeds,, all nailed to power poles. Which is frowned upon.
I hear the boobs under the big tit in Sac. have come up with a tax plan if MJ gets legalized. I say,, good luck with that. An all cash business, which doesn’t fork over any taxes now, will know how to skirt that taxation.
OK,, it’s honesty time. Who wants to hire a dope smoker? Just what job should one be allowed to have? Your auto mechanic? the wood shop with all those spinning blades?
The one doing your books, and taxes? Hell! how bout the one just running the cash register?
Your friendly construction worker???LikeLike

Someone give this person a tin foil hat.
5:50 p.m. — A caller reported an awful lot of telepathic activity in the county that was violating our fourth amendment rights.LikeLike
