   jons 1241pm – My apologies for implying that you were way off base. Yes, ‘debt of sin’ has been attributed to ‘it is finished’, but the more encompassing interpretation of ‘it’ is the purpose and objective of God’s incarnation as the Christ. The overarching objective was the personal delivery/demonstration of God’s Second Covenant with mankind (the actual first was made with Adam who blew it, the one that stuck was transmitted through Abraham or Moses depending on what branch of Judaism you favor). But the Second Covenant included Christ’s sacrifice for relieving mankind of his original sin which then made possible immortality, the raison d’etre of the Second Covenant, the contractual agreement ‘with whomsoever believeth in me’. And that, many of us feel, makes ‘He is Risen!’ a more compelling summary incarnate Christ’s work on Earth, and of why one should be a Christian. Thanks for the exchange.
