We’ve reported what outfits like Pew Research have discovered about the mental acumen of millennials. Today we hear from online news services targeting millennial audiences some characteristics of their aggregate behaviors that explain away why this generation is not our nation’s swiftest (Bernie call your office). The Independent Journal Review is perhaps the leading such online news service, and they report that they must limit their news items to 30 seconds being the absolute max since web tracking shows that after that interval their viewership plunges if they attempt to deliver more content about an item. In short, they confirm that the millennials have been raised to absorb a bite-sized world, and have the attention span slightly longer than that of a sparrow.
Most of America knows that the Democratic Party has moved markedly to the left, especially during the Obama years. Among those who don’t are the informationally deprived local lefties all over the country for reasons that we have outlined here for some time – RR’s comment streams may serve as Exhibit A. Today left-of-center Associated Press freely admits that this has been the case, and contributes to the polarization of our country. Our gruberized progressives continue to believe that only the ideological migration of the Right is guilty of the divisive polarization of America. This is another illustration that we conservetarians share literally nothing with the central planning and control chorus – no common history, no common world view, no common economics, …, in short, no common facts.
Has anyone noticed that the leading centers of decay and dissolution – be they cities, counties, or states – in our country are those which ‘enjoy’ dominant leftwing political leadership, and moreover, have been so blessed for the longest time.
[15mar16 update] Demand for charter schools continues to panic union schools. Since charters outperform union schools on all counts, the socialist education professors are now offering butt stupid arguments and outright lies as to why parents should put their kids – especially in poor neighborhoods – back into union schools. And true to form lamestream outlets like the NYT are right in there supporting the quackery. Eva Moskowitz, CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools, explains all this in her ‘Orderliness in Schools – What a Concept’. As they continue to oppose the spread of charter schools on all fronts, the progressives provide yet another piece of evidence that they are rapidly transiting from just ignorant to evil. Et tu progressive?
[16mar16] ‘White – no degree’ is a category that exit polls stick voters into these days. Since our socialist betters tell us that college should be free since it’s the new high school, maybe the category should be expanded to ‘White – no employable degree’ to include a more accurate tally of the larger cohort of people operationally uneducated.
We are told that 51% of Republicans “feel betrayed by their party”, given the performance of the GOP dominated Congress. From conversations with local Republicans, my sense is that it’s considerably higher than the bare majority. In any case, such dissatisfaction goes a long way to explain Trump’s tidal wave of support. And conservative Red State argues that Kasich’s Ohio victory was pyrrhic, and presents two scenarios why Trump will now be the ultimate nominee. Its foreboding conclusion is that, absent an orange jump suit, Hillary will win in November.
The trans-astronomically complex game of GO is the latest to sport an AI as its new master. Korean grand champion Lee Se-dol lost 4-1 to Google’s AlphaGo in a match whose outcome the human confidently predicted he would sweep the machine 5-0. He subsequently declared that the loss was not humanity’s, but simple due to his own inadequate mastery of the game. America’s 90M+ un(der)employed will find little reason to celebrate this technological advance.
Latinos coming to America parallel progressives moving to our rural communities. Today we hear of an increased exodus to the US of progressive Puerto Ricans who have managed to screw up their own island’s economy. Now they are overwhelmingly registering as Democrats to do the same here. These are the latest of a stream of Latinos – legal Mexicans being the first – to immigrate from their own government-collapsed economies and then start supporting similar policies to grow the corrupt transfer-payment policies of our federal and state governments. This is similar to our indigenous (read white) progressives who have already soiled their metropolises under liberal administrations, and now seek refuge in rural areas like Nevada County so they can do more of the same to the hinterlands. Thus observes a conservetarian transplant from LA County 😉
[17mar16 update] On the matter of the Judge Garland nomination to SCOTUS, here is the Rebane Doctrine for the Republicans' handling of such politically difficult conundra. Majority Leader McConnell simply declares immediately that should Hillary win, then the people have spoken and Obama's legacy is alive and well. The Repubs will then in lame duck session examine and approve Obama's nomination. There is no Republican hypocrisy involved in such an early and open declaration – all the past Democratic rules, including the 'Biden Rule' will have been followed in spirit and in their operational sense since Hillary presumably would renominate Garland should he not be confirmed before her term begins. The only hypocrisy would be on Obama should he suddenly withdraw the nomination upon McConnell's announcement, or Hillary admitting that she would nominate someone else. The key is to make that announcement immediately to defuse the issue and put the ball back in the Dem's court. (BTW – I have emailed Sen McConnell this recommendation.)
[20mar16 update] Bernie Sanders, the communist, is also a conscientious objector, which is something the lamestream never mentions, and Fox News is quite afraid to disclose. Bill Graves, Captain, USN (Ret), correctly asks “And if he were commander in chief, how do our career military folks function under the leadership of a man who has a serious moral or religious problem with what they have taken an oath to do?” There is nothing wrong with being a conscientious objector in order to avoid having to kill the country’s enemies as your faith dictates. But according to Rebane Doctrine no conscientious objector should ever be considered qualified for the office of POTUS.
And here is an observation by Ms Del Mar of Tiburon, and right out of my Rebane Doctrine – “Changing the Harvard Law School shield because hundreds of years ago its founder owned slaves is as absurd as Islamic State destroying the temple in Palmyra. History is history.” Think about it all you moralistic high-ground lefties; good luck.
