Look to him who comes in with another’s concern in order to go out with his own. … Gracian #193

George Rebane

No debate about replacing Justice Scalia should proceed before the Democratic precedents denying a sitting Republican president the same privilege receive full airing. At that time the debate should commence with the Dems demonstrating why the case is different today when one of their own occupies the White House.  Here is what one of the Dynamic Democrat Duufuses, Sen Schumer, has to say about it – pay attention all you liberals who gleefully cite past Repub ripostes.

“The Use of Cash is really a Civil Rights issue.” (more here) The latest Agenda21 objective involves the central planners’ desire to monitor and control ALL financial transactions.  But first we must eliminate cash, and the first step in that direction is making cash more cumbersome to use as a medium of exchange and store of value.  (Electronic money serves equally as a unit of account.)

Closing Gitmo for the purpose of denying ragheads a recruiting icon again exposes the bankruptcy of liberal logic. If/when the Muslims are moved to stateside SuperMax prisons, outfits like ISIS will have even more draconian pictures of prisons to put up on their recruiting websites.  This is lost on progressives.  (Gitmo continues to be a valuable outpost of America’s power and presence in the Caribbean, and apparently citing its maintenance costs have not served the pro-Islamist stance of this administration.)

The proposition that America’s minorities – especially our blacks – do not serve their best interests in the voting booth becomes easier to demonstrate with every passing year. And that is why the maintenance of union schools is paramount in the progressives’ agenda, for it shuts off the only peaceful escape from the clutches of creeping, now galloping, collectivism.

[24feb16 update] What most people forget about Gitmo is that it is also a very strategically located piece of US real estate in the Caribbean, useful for everything from projecting power in the region and points south, and staging humanitarian aid that includes being a temporary repository for migrants.  It remains also the penultimate trump card in dealing with communist Cuba (a fact lost on the current community organizer).  That it is a legalistically convenient detention facility for ragheads taken from the battlefield has been much covered elsewhere and needs no rehashing here.

Remember last December’s climate change conference in Paris from which all left with lots of promises and good feelings? Actually it turned out to be yet another good collectivists' cathartic and dumping ground for progressive bullshit.  Reports coming in from around the globe indicate that no one is doing anything to even pretend to move the needle on preventable global warming.  Brazil, with its economy in the toilet continues to burn ever more rainforests, is the posterchild here.  It demonstrates once more to the double-dummies of the Left that only rich countries can maintain a clean environment and afford the destructive environmental histrionics that their socialistic governments impose.  And these are the very same people who haven’t a clue about what generates wealth and how governance can support such enterprises.

The Collective Cricket Core reports on the declining interest in the primaries among Democrat voters. While the Republicans’ participation is reaching new heights, those of the Left are staying home, and for a good reason given their choices.  Only the undereducated young (millennials) desperate for a tolerable lifestyle – even if it only means opening checks from the government – are out there in numbers drinking socialist kool-aid.   Most older Dems have seen the ‘benefits’ of what Bernie and now Hillary are promising, and they just shake their heads and give the primary season a pass.  None of this known to the la-la land leftwing pundits and bloggers who continue to happy dance in the streets for reasons they themselves know not.

[28feb16 update] Facebook confirms the country's extremes of political polarization.  The vitriolic exchanges on the social medium have gotten so bad that people are ‘Unfriending’ each other based on their support of certain candidates.  Worse, many are reporting that they now hesitate going on Facebook because they are apprehensive about their session becoming “stressful”.  Facebook management hopes that things will again become friendlier after election season.

Warren Buffett’s annual letter to shareholders reveals that he now believes in the reality of systemic unemployment (as long discussed on RR), and that the solution is simply government writing regular checks (“safety net programs”) to those who claim they no longer can sell their skills on the job market. Mr Buffett is a likeable corporatist who knows better than Trump about how to play politicians.  As such he exemplifies the Rebane Rule of capitalism – the bad part of capitalism is that it will game the system; the good part of capitalism is that it will game the system.  In this election he is a Hillary supporter presumably because she has demonstrated her reliable malleability to money.

Oh Jon, I ain’t no Dick Tracy like you. Now, seriously, take a chill pill. It’s only February for your Peter’s Sake. The nomination process will run its course and then, only then, will the answer to your question “how will Trump get from here to there” be answered. I know you have patience, but any answer right now is being asked prematurely. Like watching the first ten minutes of a football game and asking how a team on the field looking terrible and sloppy after the last set of downs “how could they possibly win the game?” We are not even done with the first quarter yet.
Weren’t you once wise enough last Nov/December to say it’s way too early to make predictions?
How will Trump pull it off? Well, a safe answer would be with some luck, some lucky breaks, some bonehead slip ups from the Democrat candidates, a couple of terrorist attacks, a global economic nosedive, and things yet unforeseen.
But the real answer is it is anyone’s guess right now so all options and opinions are equally weighted at this point. Heck, some are predicting the results come Nov. 8th, 2016 by the way the stars are aligned and they are probably the ones speaking with the greatest confidence about the final outcome this far out.
Hey, in 1980 Reagen was trailing the Peanut Farmer 7 days out from the election. McCain was leading O in Sept, before he halted his campaign to run and try to fix the Banking Almost Collapse. . Too many variables, too much time.
Hope burns eternal and the Cubs will win the World Series. When? I dunno.
Quote of the evening from someone watching Bill Clinton in SC speaking to a crowd of 200 that was nodding off and trying to stay awake listening to Bill going on and on…..

Didn’t waste by time watching the debates. Besides, I don’t have TV, even though it was offered to me free as part of a contract.. But, according to Jon, it must have been a doozie.
Noticed just yesterday that the Chinese Foreign Minister was all concerned that their cozy one sided relationship with the USA would be threatened by a Trump presidency. They ain’t laughing. They are scared shitless that we might play by the same rules they do.
Noticed today the Mexican drug cartels have got together to discuss new routes to get drugs into the USA when the Wall is built.
Noticed the former President of Mexico, The Sly Fox, ain’t laughing either. Neither is Paul Krugman.
Yep, Dick Tracy, the world is laughing at us.
Noticed today, the NYT (which has endorsed Hillary) ran a piece imploring Hillary to release her Goldman Slacks speech transcripts pronto. They said her saying “everybody else does it” is something a child would say, not an adult running for President.
The only adult (according to the NYT) in the room is Bernie. 🙂

Back to Gitmo. Might answer Paul’s question about legal stuff.. I am not willing to throw Loretta Lynch under the bus until she proves she deserves it. She just might have a shred of integrity. Might, but her actions and professional rhetoric gives me a faint ray of trust in the process. Or, maybe I am coming down with the flu.

Also, the FBI investigation into MY Gal is proceeding. The AG has assigned lawyers to the case which gives the FBI powers to subpoena business calls, records, bank statements, etc via the powers of the Justice Department. This is SOP when a case progresses beyond the inquiry and now Justice Department lawyers are pouring over laws on the books in anticipation of questions if My Gal’s actions met the tests of violations of the law. Just another step. At least Lynch is allowing it to go this far, unlike Holder who squashed the IRS inquiry dead in its tracks.

Well, it’s no use pretending anymore. It’s stop Trump now or never. Rubio tried, but no arrows will stick. Super Tuesday is approaching fast. Trump’s numbers will go up. Maybe not in Texas, but he will stand alone on the stage soon enough.

Speaking of stopping Trump, Kim Strassel argues convincingly today that The Donald is not an outsider, but the consummate insider to Washington and playing the political game. She laments that none of his opponents have yet to make that case, which I agree, could be a devastating ‘Well, sumbich!’ wake-up call to his cadres of current supporters – especially those lovable ‘poorly educated’.

With his wealth and in his business don’t you have to be an “insider” at least to some degree? I’m buoyed by the fact that these internecine challenges tend to occur as empires begin to show fractures. With a strong economy and general feeling of societal confidence a Trump candidacy would have been laughed off in early going.
That the electorate seems ready to throw caution to the wind is an indication that they perceive something is wrong!

Worth ripping Rubio to shreds and telling the crowd of thousands upon thousands about how Christie ripped Rubio to shreds to the point where Trump thought Rubio was going to die. The huge crowd is laughing in delight and are besides themselves with glee. They are going wild. Oh wait, just just praised Ted Cruz. Genius, pure genius. The house is on fire!!
See, we uneducated uncouth ones knew everything coming down months ago and the elitists are just getting a faint clue what is going on. The snobs and experts are just now waking up and smelling the coffee.
Take Trump down by calling him an insider? Sure, he buys politicians (like Harry Reid) like we buy vegatble and pony packs of petunias in the Spring. Call him anything you want. Make every conceivable well founded argument under the Sun. Season your arguments with logic, common sense, and passionate intelligent appeal. Bring up alleged tax return problems. Dig deep and often. The enlightened, the Establishment, the power brokers, and the true conservatives just don’t want Trump to be their nominee, neither do the faint of heart girlymen.
But, guess what???? You are talking to the wind. The train left the station packed full of riders while you were still drinking your morning coffee and reading the NYT. Trump is so far ahead of you guys. Now, who are the real dummies??

Dr. Rebane @ 12:18. The Dems will not tolerate any challenge to their Establishment, ever. The DNC has proven that. Won’t see the 1968 Chicago Convention on the horizon for a very berry long time. All the Dem Party big guns from Obama to anybody who is anybody will drive their swords into Bernie and drag his innards down 9 miles of rough road. You do not mess with the Party of Tolerance, Fair Play, and Justice. Hillary is their chosen one since before she officially threw her hat in the ring. Even before her last two campaign resets, and way before her official kickoff, #1 and #2. The fix is in on that side of the aisle (The Good Side) and the super delegates are all in for her before a ballot is cast in the remaining 57 states and Puerto Rico. Nothing to see there.
Revolution? Only on The Bad Side, us intolerate bigots and toothless rednecks. That is where you will see a revolution. If you really want a foretaste of the general, look to see how MA turns out on Super Tuesday on the Bad Side’s primary.
Holy Crap! Trump took 44% of the Hispanic vote….in Nevada! What the heck is going on here? Didn’t even have a HQ sent up. Well, he did. Anywhere in Vegas you can see that big Trump Building 24/7 with 24 karat gold plated windows towering above the unwashed masses and us ignorant gun clingers.
The revolution is only to be found one place, and that’s on the Bad Party of Unenlightment side. The Dark Side of the Street, across the tracks.
Wake up and smell the coffee. It is not a sure thing and we are the underdogs and the outcasts of polite society. We are not worthy, but are too dumb to accept that, no less even know who dumb and stupid we are. Trump is our underdog and Hillary is the unstoppable Favorite, the darling of the DNC.
Oh, blood in the streets is nothing to be afraid of. The only thing you have to fear is fear itself. A quitter never wins and a winner never quits. Give ’em hell Bernie and weaken the Party’s Inevitable one. Make her stagger a wee bit before you disappear. After that, we dummies will take it from there and take it to the house. So glad Hillary is fighting for y’all. Now, I need y’all to think of ways to throw a cog in the gears and stop the Juggernaut from the Dark Side. Come on you smarter than me people, think, think, think. In the meantime, look both ways before crossing the street,

More about SCOTUS appointments… let’s set the Wayback Machine to 1987… A Republican President who I am proud to have not voted for, 54 Democratic Senators who I also did not vote for.
Who was in charge of the Borking of Robert Bork? Smilin’ Joe Biden. Why? That Dem Senate did NOT want to give a moderate slot to a brilliant conservative originalist. It was a character assassination from start to finish.
Understanding there would not be a chance in hell that Obama/Biden would be serving up another Scalia or a Bork, the GOP action is the honorable and honest way for the Senate to do their job, which isn’t to rubberstamp this President’s choice. Bork got Borked to stop a Moderate justice from being replaced with a Conservative, Obama’s nominee will just be ignored in order for a Conservative seat not be converted to a Moderate or a Leftist, with a three ring circus in the press goading the presidential campaigns.
The GOP and the country is screwed for a generation or two if they don’t pull it together and win in November… and it’s theirs to lose… they have a fine talent for pulling defeat from the jaws of victory… and the tantrum over conservatives not getting things done with a bare majority in the Congress and a hostile President and media, causing a lurch towards the inexperience of Trump, Cruz and Rubio, not to mention the complete neophyte Carson, isn’t making things better.

“Jon”, just wondering and thinking you might know, is the following picture the reason Pelline is on a vendetta against McGee’s pub? It was either taken out front of McGee’s or just inside:

I heard a very unclassy story about the Golden Era people… they essentially refused to serve McGee’s longtime owner, Richie, when he came in for a drink. Richie, when his family opened’ McGee’s Annex (to the original pub in the Bay Area), visited every business in town to say hi and inviting all to drop by the new bar in town. Not so “Golden Era”.
