[Lest we forget Obamacare, that federal monstrosity has managed to get another of its tits in a wringer – mandated health insurance for California farmworkers. The monthly cost for 50 or more workers starts at over $30K which their hiring companies can't afford, so they have to deny it and pay the fine. But now the workers denied have to be declared to the IRS which will blow their cover as illegal aliens who haven't paid income tax forever, and more importantly blows the liberal bull crap that illegals pay their way in America. Oh what to do when you're trying to be a proper central planner? And then there's CA's gasoline price averaging over $2.40 when the rest of the country's average is $1.73/gal, and the margins in CA are so low that the refineries are shipping fuel out of state that adds shortage to the already higher costs of added taxes, green fees (not golf), and refining the special gas legal here. We can go on, but isn't big government great? gjr]

Before anybody gets too excited about the New Hampshire results, remember this: Only two Republicans (Reagan, Bush the First) and one Democrat (Carter) have won the primary and then been elected president since 1976.

re GeorgeB 1005am – Agree with the stats, but that’s not what the ‘NH excitement’ is about. The results there will impact who decides to go forward with their campaign and who will now pack it in.

New Hampshire? Forget the history. I bet 25% of the Dems will vote for any Republican they want their guy/gal to run against in Nov. 20% of Dems already said they will not vote last month, but now might do the anti-vote thang. Time to take a break for a month, unless it’s about my gal and her wild geriatric herd of 68 something unleased feminazis. They love my gal.
I predict that Bill Clinton will start blowing his cork and be hospitalized briefly by April for rest. Ah, the fangs and claws are coming out. Only Trump seems to be having a ball. Let me knows who wins and how the independents break.
On to Obamacare and other important stuff.LikeLike

Please note the central distortion of healthcare in the USA, that the only way to buy healthcare with before tax dollars is to have your employer buy it for you, remaines unscathed after 7 years of brand-spanking new distortions of the healthcare industry making everything worse.
So, a 1940’s error by the Congress remains… gold plated insurance from your employer is free from state and federal income taxes. Lousy insurance from your employer is also free from income taxes. It seems to me the only way out besides British style National Healthcare is to begin taxing what were once called “fringe benefits” and adjusting the tax tables to be revenue neutral.
On to a more local issue… it was reported on CapRadio this morning that California’s largest recycling company has gone bust, taking with it most of the recycling centers in Nevada County. Not a peep from Scoopy or the Tea Party Gazette. The only west county location to accept recycling or buy back aluminum or glass beverage containers would seem to be the Waste Management operation at the McC transfer station.LikeLike

The excitement about New Hampshire is that it’s real votes, not a pollster’s questionnaire. The media has been forging a Fantasy Election for many months and getting folks whipped into a frenzy over their results… now it’s reality. The race is on and here comes Pride up the back stretch. Heartaches are going to the inside…
Do we have a new illness… Marcolepsy? The robotic repetition of the same short speech over and over when the campaigner’s eyes glaze over or are caught in the glare of the lights.LikeLike

Gregory, Senator Rubotio would not like your last sentence. Rubot might be a new phrase in the American diction.. :). Wasn’t the last R debate on or around Ground Hog Day? Astrologer saying The Bern will burn out by August when his moon leaves Mars and enters Aquarius of some other consellation. Interesting times.
Darn, it’s only early Febuary. Tried and true conventional wisdom that holds water says it’s way too early to make predictions. Screw that, this time it will different…LikeLike

Well, our favorite sleazebag Hillary made it very clear this afternoon at multiple NH stops, all on video. She and her team will continue “working hard (for her victory) until all the votes have been cast and counted.” That woman is unabashed about which stages of the election she and her team intend to influence tonight. Sounds like good ol’ Tammany Hall politics to me.

We ALL know strange things happen in the dead of night when ballot boxes are in play.
Hillary has her body exhumers digging in frozen grave yards as we speak.
“Look HERE!! a ‘lost’ ballot box, full of votes for Hillary!”
OR,, More votes cast than there are voters.
OH… Hillary camp just said,” We lost because the state is too white”.LikeLike

Congrats to the really big winners in NH… Sanders who thoroughly spanked Clinton, and Kasich, the only sitting governor besides the fading Christie who vaulted over Cruz and Rubio to the #2 spot.

Guest commenter at WTUT posted this story about the EPA seeking to ban the freedom of individuals within the USA to convert street cars into race cars.
Anthony writes:
Another example of government abuse of power, the EPA is seeking to remove more freedoms from American citizens in the name of the environment, by prohibiting the act of converting street cars into race cars. The sheer ridiculousness of this move to can be measured by how little of an impact it will have on the environment, given how little the number of cars converted into racecars per year.
When we were growing up in Nevada County, long before we had a drivers license my two brother bought cars stored in garages since WWII, put up on blocks to support the war and not have to fight for rationed gas cupons. They modified those cars and raced them around logging road with Jerry Purcell and his little brother Ernie Purcell. Ernie went on to become a racing champion and for a time the Fair Grounds race track was names in his honor.
What my brothers learned modifying cars became the educational base for careers in modifying, repairing and creating unique transportation systems. They are innovators based on the skills they learned modifying cars. EPA banning the modification of vehicles will hinder modern innovators in creating future transportation innovations.LikeLike

In contrast, Trump won with the “educated” vote. ” Well, Tuesday night in New Hampshire, our Establishment Betters were once again exposed as useless elites who have lost compete touch with their own voters. Trump not only won the Granite State by a wide margin, according to exit polls, Trump won the votes of every education demographic, including those with college and post-graduate degrees.”

I think Peyton has a much brighter future. It was nice he got his 4 mill in bonuses to replace the cash he gave up to get a better team, that bet paid off big. He has 30 papa johns and I think he may get some more for kissing papa john. Ever the strategic thinker he also did no harm to his bank by pushing bud and bud light since he is a distributor in Baton Rouge or somewhere there about. Not bad for a an old white guy who could probably qualify for disability now!

Change is the only constant in life.
Now the piling on is starting, but Hillary will be fighting back. As of tomorrow, discouraged Bill and Hillary supporters will be receiving big red reset buttons in the mail. That should work wonders.LikeLike

The EPA and the NSA are both rogue organizations. While I don’t condone VW’s diesel testing solution, the really onerous restrictions on NOx emmissions that held up sales of TDI and other diesels were based not on economics or public health… the TDI’s contribution to pollution is virtually nil compared to past diesels, both passenger and large truck that remain legal to operate.
It helps to speak German, but even monolinguals will catch the drift

The VW TDI remains one of the most fuel efficient engines on the road.
Kudos to the SCOTUS who have put the EPA CO2 rules in deep freeze until the state’s lawsuits play out.LikeLike

Honestly, I don’t know. Is this a problem in Indonesia?
It wouldn’t be hard to cook up a reasonable sounding theory to apply to some ethnic, cultural, or national group(s), but it would likely be nonsense. I suppose all that matters is the result, not the cause. Move a large, badly behaved, cohort of a foreign population to your country -> all hell breaks loose.
In any case, you’d best research this kind of thing pretty quickly since about all that will show up on Google in a few years will be articles like this:

What I’m seeing there is probably something like:
1. Guy with politically undesirable name sez: Donald Trump, you always have the best crowds.
2. Trump (or some staff member) likes the post (who wouldn’t?) and resends it.
3. Trump notices the evil name (or some staff member does) and deletes post.
Well, I’m outraged.
I hope they checked the White House crawlspaces after Carter left office.

or, now that I think about it…..
4. The evil post to Trump’s account goes down the memory hole because of the new ‘Twitter Trust and Safety Council’, who don’t like the name of the twitterer either.
I doubt this since I expect that Twitter will be an active participant in any anti-Trump political movements, but you never know what some Indian IT sweatshop will get up to.
The strong political tendencies of the management of large social media companies really does throw an interesting twist into all of this. The ability to gin up an outraged mob will increase over time.LikeLike
