[Lest we forget Obamacare, that federal monstrosity has managed to get another of its tits in a wringer – mandated health insurance for California farmworkers. The monthly cost for 50 or more workers starts at over $30K which their hiring companies can't afford, so they have to deny it and pay the fine. But now the workers denied have to be declared to the IRS which will blow their cover as illegal aliens who haven't paid income tax forever, and more importantly blows the liberal bull crap that illegals pay their way in America. Oh what to do when you're trying to be a proper central planner? And then there's CA's gasoline price averaging over $2.40 when the rest of the country's average is $1.73/gal, and the margins in CA are so low that the refineries are shipping fuel out of state that adds shortage to the already higher costs of added taxes, green fees (not golf), and refining the special gas legal here. We can go on, but isn't big government great? gjr]

If the Repubs cave and give “O” whoever he chooses to fill the slot,(some Commie somebitch, you can bet the farm on) Trump will be given the job, and come future elections every establishment Repub will get voted out of office.(and rightly so.)

Walt, that be true. Good prediction. Nothing will happen in the near future. Heck, the Budget Guy from the White House hasn’t even been invited up to the Hill. DOA. And you think they can sneak a progressive mind through the Senate and confirmed to wear a black robe with an election coming??
As we dwell upon such matters, 85% of the Ameticans (whether they be left, right, the middle, or don’t keep up) are united. We are a nation united again. All can see the corruption in government, the selling out the middle class to elisists and foreign elitists, this feeling that we as a nation are going down. People from sea to shiny sea want America to be economically superior again. Our country has been sold down the river by these politicians and elitists that have no connection to the common man, aka, the majority of our nation’s people from every single walk of life.
This is not just an election about a president or Supreme Court pick. Nay, this is The Battle Royal for the soul of America which throughout our entire history has been Ametican Citizens first and foremost. Never in our history has even the richest of rich did not try to maintain a common bond with what if means be an American first and foremost. The American Community, if you will. The rich, the powerful, the most esteemed politician had a sense of gratitude, a sense of duty, a sense of humility and responsibility. Now the elitists do not even try to be a citizen among citizens. They have sold us down the river and Bill Clinton, George W Bush, and Barrack Huesin Obama all have blood on their hands and were put tools for those who put America second by putting the community of Americans second.
On the right we are enraged that the Republican powers just pulled O’s ass out of the fire over Trade Deals that the Dems rejected!! And the left is still doing the Occupy Wall Street thing as evidenced by Bernie’s passion and the meaningless words of Hillary.
The people will not stand for it. We have realized people make mistakes, we have been patient, understanding, long suffering, and volleyed across the bow.
This is no longer about left vs right, about socialism versus free market principles. No! This is now about us vs them. The us being those who want to put America First verses the power structures that be (the Establishment if you prefer). This is the real Battle Royale going on. Grab your pitchforks and off with their heads!
After the primaries we can do the old left/right punching bag workouts. Until then and at this rare moment in time, this nation is united on the desire to have America being exceptional again. But, there are some standing in the way that need immediate attention to by the 85% to take down some in both parties! including those guys in the smoked filled back rooms. It started with Bubba and then Bush in Iraq and then Wall St and now Obama. The community of Americans who value being American refuse to be buried alive, to have America a second class citizen.
First, bring out the guillotine, then pick the next Justice. There is a method to this madness. It’s called harmony, though the out of touch call it chaos.LikeLike

Hey Tozer, before I turn in, gotta ask a Blame America First naysayer such as yourself- which nation in the Big Ole World is better and more powerful than that USA these days? Even your boy John Kasich is sick of this phony whining. China is falling really fast and a house of cards, Russia is in total rubble. Old Europe, Japan? Get real. Jon, well said. You agree with the majority of soiled handed uncouth peasants across the bountiful amber waves of grain. Join me in an USA! USA! USA! chant, will ya. Or, is that getting ahead of myself?
Perhaps, in lieu of the USA! USA! USA! that makes my spine tingle and the cockels of me weary heart swell with pride, we can sing along with the Beatles, who were not only crushed Beep-Bop and folk, but wrote about a similar time. Sing with me my brother, sing it loud.

Yes indeed, one of the 10 best songs of the 20th century. My Reagan-worshipping US History teacher in HS used to play it for us in class, and a dope smoking lib friend in college was a Lennon fanatic, regularly picking out that tune. Anyone from straight-ahead liberal to hard right loves it.

“Will await the Obama Supreme Ct. pick over the next 2 weeks…”
That will all play out in an interesting fashion I think. Both ‘sides’ (which largely consist of Goldman Sachs Democrats and Chamber of Commerce Republicans) will play the whole drama to the hilt. The hoi polloi will weigh in with their own fears and wisdom.
My favorite theory goes like so:
. Obama has a private meeting with Ms. Clinton
. As a result, a series of no-go Supreme Court nominees are thrown into the mix. These will be calculated to gin up support for Clinton’s own campaign. Some special interest group or the other will have the opportunity to get their person in as the US has a more Balkanized mindset. Republicans will look bad by rejecting these candidates.
. Also, Obama uses the full force of his office to help Clinton get elected.
. Upon election, Madam President presents her real candidate for the open Supreme Court slot. Barack Obama.
. Hilarity ensues.
You’ll never go wrong overestimating the venality of the ruling classes.LikeLike

global warming update: What is the difference between “weather” and “climate”, a distinction that seems to be lost on some of you? By the same logic, this week’s above normal temperatures locally must mean that global warming is happening. Get your arguments straight.

Actually Bobby a recurring theme here is mocking the warmist notion that when it’s warm in February it’s due to Climate Change and when it’s cold in February it’s due to Climate Change.LikeLike
-
@ Robert… Someone here a while back pointed out the “true believer” excuse game.
If it’s cold “it’s only normal weather”. If it’s slightly warmer, it’s “climate change”.
Not one “true believer” has explained why Hawaii is still inhabitable. The predictions of 20 years ago would make that a reality today. If AGW has any basis in fact the equatorial regions would be a dead zone. Only livable in the dead of Winter.
Hawaii has yet to even be impacted by “rising seas”. Waikiki beach is still there.
Now you can post the boilerplate excuses.LikeLike
-
Walt — you missed my point, which was that the “it’s cold on the East coast therefore the climate is not warming” argument that Russ 9:06 seems to be making, is no more valid than arguing that “because it has been warmer than normal here the last couple of weeks” the climate is warming.
Fishy– is the theme “mocking the warmest notion” or upholding the “denier’s notion” that whenever it snows is proof that the climate is not warming, which seems to be the real theme being put forth.LikeLike

Robert@11:41AM
My apology for misleading you. I should have turned on the /sarc/ mode so there would be no doubt about my sarcastic intent. Weather is day to day, climate change takes place over 15-30 year time frames, depending on which science team is writing the analysis. We are currently experiencing an 18 year plus global warming pause, which exceeds the 15 and 17 year hurdle set by some supporters of anthropogenic climate change. Natural variation is about +/- 2 C, driven primarily by El Niรฑo and La Niรฑa conditions in the Pacific, riding on top of a PDO phase, which is dominantly cool right now. The current El Niรฑo is collapsing and we will soon have a cool PDO with La Niรฑa conditions, which should produce and extended drought in the Southwest US, including California. More about the collapse here: http://sierrafoothillcommentary.com/2016/02/10/california-drought-report-58-el-nino-collapse-appears-to-be-underway/LikeLike

RobertC 1109am – Didn’t notice your presentation of any logic, “same” or otherwise Mr Cross. However, if we do extend your thinking about “this week’s above normal temperatures locally must mean that global warming is happening”, then this or last week’s below normal temperatures (especially on the east coast) somewhere must mean that global cooling is happening. Such dynamism is an interesting commentary on what we may consider as climate change.
Some of us view climate and its variations on a longer term and more synoptic scale that may be politically less convenient for those seeking to implement fundamental political transformations here and abroad.LikeLike

Before the Pause overtook the number, catastrophists were clear that a pause of 15 years would be an indicator the models were wrong. Now the line in the sand is 20 years.

Don’t feel bad there, Robert. No use going down the road of scrutiny. It will get ya all flustered. There are some on these pages that believe in replicating the notions of fact and some even believe in exactness. Think that has to do with something called scientific inquiry, but I could be wrong.
I use to say “have a good day.” Now I say “have the day you deserve.” Let’s let Karma work this shit out.LikeLike
-
George 12:26– your thinking about โฆโฆ That was not my thinking at all. I was not speculating or addressing the weather or climate change, but rather the logic behind reporting the current extreme east coast cold with the idea of such a report being the basis to reject climate change arguments (which was apparently issued in jest which I apparently missed) and equating that argument with it’s opposite, claiming the local warm spell as evidence of climate change.

As usual, no one will touch the fact that the “predicted” dead zone is still more than habitable, and above water. The simple fact that the equator would feel the effects of ANY global warming the most is more than telling. Hell.. Snow even fell on top of Hawaii last July. Global warming my ass.

Glad you are amused there Jon. Yep, time to rip the scab off the post Bagdad fall of saddam HUSSIEN. After that, it created a mess. Not as big of as a mess backing the Muslim Brotherhood in Eypyt, Syria, and Libya and the whole Middle East, but a cluster still the same. We on the right will rip open the wound, clean out all the puss and infection, sew it up and have a clean healing process in the open for all to see. That’s the kind of folks we are. Trump’s goal is the tear asunder the crooks, liars, and psychopaths than run our country. That is why there is so much unity between Bernie’s and The Donald’s followers. If the Republican party is the free market business oriented enterprise it claims to be, why is the local chapter endorsing the MJ ban? It would seem to me to be a very anti-business position from numerous point of view.

Robert, same reason we ban whorehouses in California and we have stop signs and closing times at bars. Same reason Nevada City bans 7-11s.
Recreational use of marijuana is still illegal, believe it or not. The outdoor temp ban does make it more difficult to grow medicinal marijuana for some patients, I will grant you that. But, growing marijuana for profit is still illegal and has never been legal.
However, the good news for those who grow indoors medicinal marijuana solely and only per a licensed doctor’s recommendation/prescription for medical purposes will not consider this a ban in the least. Isn’t that what was voted on by the voters of the very blue State of Ca? Prop 215 or something. Ban? I see a temp outdoor grow ban of medicinal only wacky tobaccy, not a ban.
With that out of the way, I take no firm stance on this issue of medical marihuana hoochie hoochie as long as it is not for profit and grown according to the allowances of the law. You guys can banter back and forth until you sort this shit out. I got mine, sucks to be you. ๐LikeLike
