   True that most normal Americans are moderate on balance. Conservative fiscally generally and socially liberally generally. The only people ranting and foaming about hard line positions are the small minority on the far right. Wow, Trump gets 30% of about 25% of the electorate. Congratulations to the real estate developer turned TV star and Catskills comedian! Good luck gaining half of the entire American electorate :).

   Thanks for the advise there John. I love being angry. Love it. I am in great company. The left, the right, and the middle are all pissed off. I can’t get enough of that good stuff. Oh, on the extreme hard core radical left, they call it “enthusiastic” crowds. Sure, but they be angry. Anger is a fantastic touchstone for change. Great motivator. If it wasn’t, then people would not get their voices heard, then their spirits get crushed, then they surrender to the authoritarians, and even not trust government no more. Yes, silly notion. Boy, them German, Swedish, Danish, British, and French hot babes are quite angry with their government now. What got into them?
   Yes indeed, a good night’s rest is a wonderful experience, John. So refreshing. I know many of us old smelly farts that have not been able to sleep through the night for 38 years or 45 years with our busted up bones, shrapnel in our spines, and tornup shot up parts. Not one darn night of interrupted slumber. Oh, to be young again.
   Hey, I got a hold of some internal polling and it kinda says that 8% of the registered Dem voters in NH say they will not vote!! Thinking that was an error and the question was framed wrong or the answer should have been “undecided”, I dug deeper and found out on another patch of internal polling that…..drumroll please….20% of the registered Dems say they Will Not vote. Want another choice I suppose. I don’t believe that polling for a second. It can’t be true. If it is, then Hillary and Col. Sanders need to get their people angry…real angry, and get em all stirred up and off their flabby buttocks and to the caucuses. And don’t forget to sign a Hillary pledge card. Her rallies are bringing the house down. And boy is she ever angry since being a zillion points ahead of the pack less than a month ago. That will make me sleep good tonight.
   Hey, not all was lost today. How about the New England Patriots today?? Geez, I bet it’s quiet in the Northeast tonight after they were counting their free range chicken before they hatched. Them folks are not angry, just depressed. Very depressed. They need to get all riled up in that corner of the nation, or in the very least get used to losing.

I’ll also continue with the assumption that you are indeed Stephen Frisch, CEO of that wretchedly misnamed rentseeking 501c3, the Sierra Business Council which is not a council of businesses.
   You describe yourself as a moderate… and when you get column inches in The Union, you actually sound like a moderate writing about water policy. Then when pressed in the blogosphere, you admit you think every single privately owned residential well in the state should have a meter in order to send the private well user a bill for every gallon of the state’s water they use. Moderate? Hardly.
   In the aftermath of a horrible shooting you proclaim you will be travelling to Washington DC to help pass the gun ban du jour. Moderate?

   Not ever being registered GOP I’ve never voted in a GOP primary and this year will be no different, but the GOP, a minority party in California, has a majority of governorships, a majority in the House and a majority in the Senate, and if Friedrichs v. California Teachers Ass’n goes down as eveyone expects, the GOP may well again be a player in Sacramento and in a number of other state governments since about half the states enforce agency fees and unions across the country are partisan Democratic institutions.
   It isn’t easy being Green and as soon as the expected post El Nino cooling hits, it will be even harder being green when it causes average moderates to pay ever higher rates for less and less energy… but only in California.
   We live in interesting times.

   State of Jefferson: Up to Nevada County Voters?
   Eddy Garcia writes in an email:
   But, thanks to the untiring efforts of your Steering Committee and volunteers, next Thursday January 28th at 10 AM, proudly wearing our green t-shirts we will deliver to the Nevada County Elections Office over 5,500 signatures requesting that our Board of Supervisors put the State of Jefferson proposition on the ballot so that the citizens of Nevada County can express their opinion on whether our County should become part of the effort to form a new state where we would be guaranteed a voice in the decisions that shape our lives and the future of our children.
   Tomorrow, Tuesday, we will also be addressing our Board of Supervisors during public comment time at 9:05 AM to inform them about the success of our signature gathering campaign.
   It is going to be an interesting election season. My guess is the County will delay the certification, forcing the ballot to November where it will be buried in multiple initiatives. If the County certified the proposition signatures in the required time it could be on the June ballot, where it would have a better chance of passing, as the voter turn out will be smaller, giving the proponents a better chance at passing. Stay Tuned.

    Oakland Minimum Wage UP, WalMart OUT.
    Wal-Mart announced Jan. 15 it will close 269 stores globally, including 154 locations in the United States—affecting about 10,000 associates across the nation.
    “The minimum wage in the city of Oakland played a factor, was one of the factors, they considered in closing the stores,” Oakland City Councilman Larry Reid told the San Francisco Chronicle.
    “They wouldn’t go into any specific details in terms of their rationale for closing the store,” Reid told ABC 7 News. “But this store has been very successful for Wal-mart.”
    Well, in Washington DC they raised the minimum wages to $15.00 and WalMart is closing stores and will not build two promised stores in poor neighborhoods. Raising the minimum wages in poor communities has some unintended consequences. One of those consequences is businesses head for the exit, they can find more business friendly locations, especially large corporations with large footprints. Businesses mission is to make money for stockholders, not community charity.

    Ok, does ANYBODY find it weird that Obama has called on Bernie to meet with him at the White House tomorrow for a nice one on one? Hmmm. I can only speculate that Obama has something on his mind. Probably nothing to do with the FBI investigations into Espionage Act violations or using the Foundation as a personal slush fund for Chelsea and her mother. Who knows what will be said in the meet and greet.
    Obama meets once a month for lunch with the FORMER DNC chairperson for a chat. Obama has not meet once with Debbie Whatshisname Segerant Shultz since 2011, after the Dems got “shellacked” (per Obama) and he tried to replace Debbie. Debbie countered that if he tried, she would claim Obama was declaring war on women. Doubt that will be the topic.
    So, what is President O up to? Pressure The Bern to drop out? Doubtful. Bernie is doing his last hurrah and is too much like Trump to be bought….I hope.
    Maybe the will be discussing race relations, or the recent snow storm. Or maybe a combination of the two.

    Not bad. I was watching Madame Secretary starting to tac to the left to get some separation between her and Our President, then all of a sudden she is kissing Obama’s behind. He meets with her often. Big O probably likes to snap his fingers and Hillary rushes right on over to plant her rosy red lips on His Presidental royal round behind. She was been a naughty girl colluding with Sydney and going behind his back. She better stay on O’s good side for now. Don’t want an October surprise, now do we?
    The dirty word of the season is “establishment”. No one wants to be tied to The Establishment or the Party Establishment from either party. That be a no-no per conventional wisdom. And nobody is running as an Obama 3rd term canadate per conventional wisdom….until now. Hmmmm. Well, Hillary certainly has ambition I can say with confidence.
    Guess Cruz is an outsider. Anyone that called Mitch McDonnel a LIAR point blank on the Senate floor has earned his outsider stripes, IMHO.
    So, we have a 3rd termer in Hillary running as an Establishment insider. South Carolina must be on her mind. Jimmy had Georgia on his mind. So did Ray Charles.
    Fun to see the DNC show its true colors. Panic time, then frantic time, now throw together another unscheduled debate ASAP. Oh Hillary and Debbie go way back and Debbie’s job is to deliver the goods for The Establishment Party Candidate. I am having a jolly good time watching this mystery unfold.

Though sometimes referred to as ‘disconnected’ or ‘detached’ youth, globally those young people often are called ‘NEETs’ – because they are neither employed nor in education or training,” said Pew.

    The bureau of labor statistics reports 11.1 percent of workers are union workers. Government employees comprise 48.9 percent of that 11.1 percent. The SCOTUS decision expected in June will change the character of many elections after 2016 if the oral argument questions are any indicator and those teachers beat the union.
