[The tragedies of Paris are many, and the immediate loss of life in that city may well be the least of them. As readers know, through the years while countering great leftwing vilification, RR has heralded the Islam's scripturally commissioned invasion through colonization (Hijra). The globalists now are using the raghead attacks in Europe to illustrate the reasons why Syrians and other mideasterners and Africans are fleeing their home countries, and that we in the west should welcome these people into our lands to establish beacheads for their kith and kin, and ultimately their horrific cultures. To better understand the institutional and organizational details of what really is happening, please take time to watch these two short videos (here and here). gjr]

Todd, do you think that solving the climate change thing will stop the Islamics from burning Jordian pilots alive, drowning them in pools in caves, throwing homosexuals off buildings, or stop selling sex sales after the are used up for a buck forty six??? Maybe once climate change is solved, the Islamics will stop burning Christian children alive in North Africa. We need to solve this horrible climate change before Paris is underwater. Anybody know how far above sea level Paris is??

You’d have to start with those who fed said senators the lies and innuendo upon which they based their votes to go to war. Cheney and Rumsfeld come to mind.LikeLike

Damn Paul,, Another one out of Left field? I say the whiny, spineless LIBS who wouldn’t
let the dogs of war finish the first job after in invasion of Kuwait.
For some reason the killing of murderous thugs, rapists and pillagers didn’t sit well with the bleeding heart Liberal. Bush caved to their cry baby fest.
Now how bout the current lying bastards who draw a gov. paycheck? “O” and all his cronies?
Heads of the IRS, EPA and all the other alphabet soup agencies?
String up the AGW “true believers”. NOAA and NASA are cooking the books. If the facts don’t fit the narrative, manufacture some.LikeLike

So I assume you are including Cheney in your list of bleeding heart liberals who pulled the plug during the Gulf war. Cheney writes:
“And the question in my mind is, how many additional American casualties is Saddam [Hussein] worth? And the answer is, not that damned many. So, I think we got it right, both when we decided to expel him from Kuwait, but also when the President made the decision that we’d achieved our objectives and we were not going to go get bogged down in the problems of trying to take over and govern Iraq.”
Also include Brent Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft who also advised against further action.LikeLike
-
So just when did he say that? Years after the fact? Your great at taking things out of context.
We SHOULD have finished the job the first time. Then there would have been no need to go back and do it all over again. But NOOoooo…. Just because the anti war peaceniks cried about “the highway of death”. They whined to their elected LIBS in DC.
So.. How did the LIB claim of “free oil” work out? The lie sure played well. LIBS are good at that.
Now back to the present… “O” and Co. sure did a great job allowing terrorists to take over the Middle East. Right down to falsifying reports. ” Nope, can’t destroy those oil trucks, the driver is a civilian.”. No,, can’t bomb that command post, the terrorists might have civilian friends there.
LIBS are GREAT at losing conflicts.LikeLike

Well, since we’re going down this road, shouldn’t we really hold accountable those who told Cheney and Rumsfeld about the WMDs?
Good approach, we’ll get to the bottom of this yet.LikeLike

The quote was from ’91. It is well documented all over the internet. My quote was from “The American Conservative”

About the publication. I read it on a regular basis and respect their views as being independent from Party influence. You should check it out.

Yes Paul,, lets apply that to the here and now. How many countless lives has “O”‘s purposely faulty intelligence cost? ” ISIS is contained?” “They are on the run!”
HELL. France and the Russians have done more damage to ISIS in a few short weeks than we have in years.
We know where those WMDS went. Syria. And “O” sure backed up his “red line” when they were used.
Hear of Gulf war syndrome? it’s cause is exposure to chemical agents. But you won’t get that from the LIB press OR the Gov. It would go against the claim they didn’t exist.
So no WMDS? Tell that to those who were there. ( I know plenty that were.) That includes radiation poisoning.
But HAY!! Your anti war side got what they wanted. That sure worked out swell. We got Gulf war II, and now III. We trade top terrorists for on traitor. Now we are importing those who hate our way of life. SMOOTH MOVE!
The LIB children who are now in college now need a rent-a buddy ( counseling) if they even see something that might hurt their feelings. Mental “safe zones”.

While I worry about bullets and bombs from IS terrorists living in Europe, stateside we worry about words on college campuses. Black dorms are segregation, duh. Protect me from evil doers, not from being offended. Anything anyone says can be construed as hurtful or offense, especially when one’s point of view is challenged.
Me thinks we have our priorities wrong. No one in the world can protect me from words or rolled eyes, but we have a fighting chance to keep ISIS at bay for awhile.
What good does it really do to hold past politicians accountable? Look at Woodrow Wilson or W. They, like all of us, may not be 100% responsible as most do what they deem right with the information they have at the time. However, fully responsible or not, they (in a perfect world) should be held accountable. Being held accountable means what in today’s world??? What, the devil made them do it??? They did what they thought best with the information they were presented.
Reminds me of Chicago Boy Dan Roniskasi (sp?) who after introducing to the Congress the then brand new First Lady Hillary as the smartest woman in America, got convicted for embezzlement and bribes and sat in prison and never missed a government pension check. Responsible? Yes. Accountable? Maybe.LikeLike

Oh jon smith: Nature abhors a vacumn. Let’s wait and see for the reports to come out straight from law enforcement’s mouth. Sure, the shooter might have been a Republican, or maybe he was a wacko like the one who plugged Gabby in the melon. Right now, it’s all speculation. I do find it odd that after all the hours he was in the clinic, he did not harm one employee or patient within the facility. Usually the gunman kills the doctors or blows the place up after hours. You and I both don’t know right now, but it is safe to bet he is not a peacenik.

Even your favorite Trump was opposed to the war and says it shouldn’t have been fought .Can youu name one Repub candidate who believes there were WMD’s and are willing to defend that position?
Here’s Trump on the war.
“LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Billionaire Donald Trump, America’s toughest employer, would like to fire the Bush Administration for its decision to invade Iraq, according to an interview in the August edition “Esquire,” due to be released on Friday.
“Look at the war in Iraq and the mess that we’re in. I would never have handled it that way. Does anybody really believe that Iraq is going to be a wonderful democracy where people are going to run down to the voting box and gently put in their ballot and the winner is happily going to step up to lead the country?,” said the host of NBC’s “The Apprentice,” whose hallmark line is “You’re fired.”
“C’mon. Two minutes after we leave, there’s going to be a revolution, and the meanest, toughest, smartest, most vicious guy will take over. And he’ll have weapons of mass destruction, which Saddam didn’t have,” Trump said in excerpts of the interview released in advance to Reuters.
“What was the purpose of the whole thing? Hundreds and hundreds of young people killed. And what about the people coming back with no arms and no legs? Not to mention the other side. All those Iraqi kids who’ve been blown to pieces. And it turns out that all of the reasons for the war were blatantly wrong. All this for nothing!,” Trump said. ”

Paul, same thing is happening in Libya. We are good at taking down regimes, not so good at nation building. In fact, lately it’s been an utter failure/disaster. Both Saddam and wacko Kadafi were strongmen who by force and by iron fist kept the various tribes in line, including the ones closest to them. If someone got too much political power, they disappeared into the black hole… Take away the strongman and its Lord of the Flies. Another example of nature abhors a vacumn.
Egypt and Pakistan has its military running things, so a change of leadership there means little. Afghanistan never had a strong central government. As the Soviet Union found out, you can capture and control the Afgan capital and government, but that still leaves 90% of the country in no man’s land. A group of tribes does not a nation make in the traditional sense.LikeLike

Our real mistake in Iraq was that after ousting Saddam, we disbanded the Iraqi Army and Civil Service. We should have removed the Baathists and put the remainder back at their jobs, just as we did in Germany in 1945-47. Who’s to blame?
I assume that decision was made pretty far up the feeding chain, Rumsfeld most likely.LikeLike

You bring up Trump? Uhh,, Paul… Have you missed his plan on ISIS? It’s not apologies
and job training, or blaming their actions on AGW, like “O” and Co. is currently doing.
Trump calls for “bombing the Hell out of them”. Changing the rules of engagement so our fighting men can get the job done.
Nice try our aged hippy friend. Remember. Those lunatics of the Middle East are still pissed about the crusades, and the Knights templar making off with all the Christian and Jewish holy relics.LikeLike
-
Larry, Bill, I tend to agree with you on this one.
Walt, I was talking about the war in Iraq not Isis (the quote was from 2005 before Isis). Trump believes that it was a mistake and directly led to the current situation. Here’s a more recent quote from Fox News:
” Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took a swipe at former President George W. Bush Tuesday night on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier,” saying he had been a “disaster” and entering the Iraq War was “one of the worst decisions ever made.”LikeLike
-
Nothing is scared to The Donald. If he treats Republican politicians this way, wait till he gets his chance to go after Hillary or whomever. :). Actually, Trump just calls them as he sees them. He runs on instinct and so far has a good pulse on the nation. A minority of people like him, but it is a pretty big and steady minority.

How green energy really works…..
“Businesses that cannot possibly survive without subsidies are ipso facto not economically viable. In spite of all the high-minded pronouncements about the “need to save the planet” and how this valiant effort can allegedly be “combined with economic growth”, their existence serves primarily one function: to distribute money looted from taxpayers and consumers to assorted cronies of the political class, who in turn provide the latter with kickbacks. That is all there is to it.”

To a certain degree I get what Paul is saying. The reason that defense firms push subcontract work out to the furthest corners of the country in order to ensure ongoing congressional backing.
You’ll notice also that he doesn’t condemn the practice. He merely establishes an equivalency.LikeLike

I will take the likes of Raytheon and Boeing over the bogus Solyndra types and square miles of over rated solar farms that ain’t worth a shit on a cloudy day.

So George doesn’t the Defense Industry peep out a private cheer when we engage in ever escalating military adventures because it means more necessity for their goods and services and therefore profit for their ventures? Also does not the same apply to the police-incarceration complex when we engage in such endless futile efforts as the so called “war on drugs”?

fish 156pm – In my many years in the defense industry, I noted a much more direct route. Defense firms don’t “push subcontracts” anywhere. Their lobbyists work hand-in-glove with congressional staffs to discover what will garner the votes necessary. And at times the staffs will approach the lobbyists with friendly suggestions as to who in their state/district could profitably fulfill a specific subcontracting requirement. And finally, it hasn’t gone without notice that actual systems (re)design has gone on in congressional offices to split off a fortuitous piece from what formerly was integrated. That, of course, costs more and those added costs are negotiated into the final appropriation. And thus endeth this defense procurement epistle for the day 😉

PaulE 233pm – Yes, I believe you are right on both counts. The Cold War was a godsend to the free world since it allowed us and forced them (USSR, PRC) to keep the big peace while fighting small wars which were a much bigger drain on their economies than on ours. While we were able to develop ever more capable (read deadly) defense systems, they saw their economies tanking and their masses growing ever more restless. The USSR responded wrong and collapsed; the Chinese brought in corporatism on steroids and survived.
Meanwhile the useless idiots on our shores keep chanting and voting to ‘give peace a chance’. We have given peace a chance for over sixty years, and it has worked. But it’s been a big peace with little brushfire wars to maintain and tweak the balance of world power. And that probably is the best peace we will ever get short of global totalitarianism which, if you recall Orwell, still had to be maintained by managed hoaky conflicts to allow Big Brother to extract sacrifices from the loyal citizens. Today our idiots are doing their best to take us to that kind of world peace.LikeLike

Ya Paul,, that Prop 47 has done wonders for making room at the “state” inn.
Now crime rates have gone up. Ain’t it wonderful? Hell! Even ripping off a gun is now a misdemeanor.(as long as it’s under 800 bucks in value.) Many a felony will now get you a ticket. They sure don’t hold an honest job.)LikeLike

In your view was the Vietnam War ande the the war in Iraq “little brush fires”? What useful purpose did the war in Iraq accomplish?LikeLike
-
GeorgeR, I agree that we had to fight against the tyranny of communism. The little wars were fought so the nuclear wars did not have to be fought. Vietnam was fought as a “Treaty Waar” as I recall. I am sure Paul Emery believes America should enforce the Climate Change Treaty if approved so he would be inconsistent if he did not. As I recall in my book on the history of the Marine Corps, many Presidents sent oyr soldiers into arms way over the centuries to enforce alliances and treaties or to protect American interests. War is hell of course but the use of force is sometimes all the bad guys respond to.

-
PaulE 833pm – Your 456pm implied I had written “little brush fires”, which I did not. Quotes are used to denote something specific that was said or written; semi-quotes to highlight or emphasize a word, or include an indirect quote which approximates what someone said or wrote. Quotes are to be treated as the holy of holies in referencing or in citations – not to be trifled with.
Well, Iraq’s defeat most certainly got rid of their WMDs that Saddam had already used against his own people and promised to use against his other enemies. I don’t know if Bush2 et al also wanted to replace Saddam with a more effective regime that could better counter Iran. That is a plausible explanation given the decades of bad blood between us and Iran. Most certainly I don’t argue that the little war was terminated properly; we’ve all made that clear in these pages.LikeLike

Sorry George, my re-writing of “small wars” which you wrote at 2:53 to brush wars should have never been a quote.
George, no one involved with the war at this time believes Saddam had WMD’s. Why do you you cling to that belief and what do you base it on? I can dig up the Rumsfeldt quotes again but it should not be necessary. Even his brother admits there were no WMD’s as do most if not all of the Republican candidates. Marco Rubio is quoted as saying
“Not only would I have not been in favor of it, President Bush would not have been in favor of it,” Rubio told the Council on Foreign Relations.
