[The tragedies of Paris are many, and the immediate loss of life in that city may well be the least of them.  As readers know, through the years while countering great leftwing vilification, RR has heralded the Islam's scripturally commissioned invasion through colonization (Hijra).  The globalists now are using the raghead attacks in Europe to illustrate the reasons why Syrians and other mideasterners and Africans are fleeing their home countries, and that we in the west should welcome these people into our lands to establish beacheads for their kith and kin, and ultimately their horrific cultures.  To better understand the institutional and organizational details of what really is happening, please take time to watch these two short videos (here and here).  gjr]

Here are some interactive maps using data from the Office of Refugee Resettlement from the US Department of Health and Human Services. You can see the source and destination of the refugees.
    http://patilv.com/USRefugees/
Hover over items for definitive numbers by state. Or, use the pull-down menus to select specific states. This is only data for 2014. Note that California is at the top of most destination lists.

First Amendement and free speech. The younger they are, the more willing they are to ‘fundamentally transform’ America. Pew Research has found that huge percentages of the younger generations are willing to have government “prevent speech offensive to minorities”. Now does that ever open the gates of hell. More here –

Argentina has thrown out the ruling leftist party in a major shift from the post Peron left in the land of gauchos. The real problem is that its reported the outgoing government emptied the treasury for free stuff to influence the election their way. Either way its going to feel odd to think of an Argentinian President as business friendly.;-)

Bessee- If you are going to announce stats, please, at least link to your source. I can PROVE the sun revolves around a flat earth simply by pointing to the bible. You can then look at the source and form an informed opinion. As Mark Twain kind of said, “If you don’t follow the internet you are uninformed. If you do follow the internet, you are misinformed. “

As you did say, “the internet is changing the way we communicate”, and it appears you are demonstrating that by pounding out alphabet soup while pounding down your cheap booze. I THINK you tried to say you can’t back your stats with a legit source and that the position you “are fine with” is one of ignorance and idle tongue flap.

Awakened at 3:00 am by a herd of coyotes wailing outside my window. To kill time read Tater Pig’s blog alleging that his “good friend” Herb Caen (who I’m certain was never darkened by the vast shadow of The Pig) penned the phrase “car strangled spanner” to describe the SF-Oakland Bay Bridge. In fact, Caen plagiarized that phrase from a cop in Florida describing the Howard Frankland Bridge that connects Tampa with St. Petersburg. Small-town blogger clueless about “Ess Eff” media scene.

What makes you think those were coyotes howling outside your humble abode? They have new ways to achieve sleep deprivation and they know where you live and are watching you. They know when you’ve been sleeping, they know when you are awake, they know if you’ve been good or bad, so be good for goodness sake.
PS:, my foreigner friend. In these parts of Nevada County, California, North America and the vast majority of the two hemispheres on Earth, they prefer to be called “a pack”, not a herd. They are easily angered and become aggressive when somebody drops the “flock” bomb on them. May the unaware sleep in blissful slumber…until

I love coyotes. Several years ago while perched in a deer stand I watched a mom teach her pups to catch gophers. In under twenty minutes she had caught 3 gophers and one of her pups caught a fourth. Coyotes are welcome guests at any time in my yard. Even if the herd wakes me up. A flock of deer were out last night jousting with one another and clacking their antlers loud enough to easily be heard above the wind. I have a pack of sand in my yard too. But they are pretty quiet.

Coyotes are easy to love when they are in their own habitat. But in cities, towns, and built up areas they are something else, extremely smart predators who keep pushing in until they are pushed back. In soCal they are a common feature in cities that abut their mountains, regularly taking small pets right in front of their owners. They have also attacked small children (Glendale and Burbank) playing in their own walled back yards. (Yes, they easily jump up on a six-foot cement block wall and then use such popular adjoining walls as their private road network to visit and hunt in any enclosed yard they choose. We lost over 30 cats in 25 years to coyotes living in the Santa Monica Mtns. They are a great species balancing out the rodent populations, but they should not be coddled in human habitats.

No wonder you had so many coyotes at your house. You were feeding them cats. If I were a sheep rancher or cat lover I’d probably not be so welcoming. The coyotes around here get shot at enough that they make themselves pretty scarce in the presence of humans. It’s a healthy balance.

joss 732am – Actually, when you live in the mountains, cats are your best defense against rattlesnakes which are territorial. Cats compete for the same food supply which keeps the snakes away. Yes, we did lose cats (owls took some of the smaller ones also), and the solution to that was to fence the property which kept the deer and coyotes away. But you did have to patrol the fence line because coyotes easily dug under the fence to get at those tasty cats. It was a battle which we finally mastered and won. The only one we did not was against the ground squirrels which kept pressing in from all sides as we trapped and poisoned them.

Looks like another closeted progressive stalwart has been smoked out after being shielded from earned criticism all these years!

“Wilson even wrote a book that served as the foundation for the infamous movie The Birth of a Nation.
Princeton should rescind every honor given to this vile man.
But to be consistent, the university must also make an effort to explain to the Black Lives Matter students that Wilson’s racism was intrinsically linked to his Progressivism. The dangerous political ideology believes all individuals are servants to the state; I don’t expect that correcting this side of the Wilson story will be prioritized over there anytime soon.

Hmm, Dr. Rebane, did you know cats are immune to rattlesnake bites? But, let’s get to the great mystery of losing 30 cats. Did your lost of Morris the Cat coincide with the influx of Koreans and other peoples from Southeast Asia during that time period? I remember well the sign at the Chinese-Thai take out that said “we no have your cat, stop asking.” Blame the coyotes? Shameless. Sure, cop to one owl as a red herring.
    Fish @ 8:45 am
Wilson, the inventor of the Great and Mighty League of Nations, was a progressive and a racist no doubt. Somehow, that seems a bit redundant. Progressive says it all. On a historical note, Wilson lived in an era before White Guilt. So, progressivism has evolved to atone for Wilson’s errant thinking about being cool with living without White Guilt. But, they still worship at the United League of Nations.

I suppose I should be flattered that Jeffy took a break from his vacation half way around the world to take a shot at my latest column in The Union, even though he put words in my mouth.
I never mentioned CNBC when I noted the cable networks are starting to give some love to the Bay Bridge, but he had to mention its new studio to show I know nothing. Of course, that doesn’t explain why CNN, Fox News and other cable outlets are following the trend I noted. Heck, even “Face the Nation” showed a background picture of the Bay Bridge when it interviewed Dianne Feinstein Sunday.
Jeffy’s obsession with The Union, even when on vacation, can create unhealthy amounts of stress. He can relieve some of that stress in Japan by taking up sumo wresting. At least he won’t have to bulk up.

It is an oft repeated urban legend that cats are immune to rattlesnake bites. Herpetologist Raymond Ditmars routinely fed cats to his larger rattlesnakes (these were stray cats destined to be euthanized by animal control). There is a 15% to 20% mortality in cats treated for Western rattlesnake bites. One citation of many: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/vec.12051/abstract?userIsAuthenticated=false&deniedAccessCustomisedMessage= The presumption would be that there is an even higher mortality in non treated cats.

BillT 1002am – Mr Smith’s 135pm is correct. Several of our cats were bit by rattlesnakes. We lost a couple, but the more funny thing happened when one of our kitty’s decided to play with a baby rattler and got nailed on top of the nose (the bony part) that admitted just a bit of venom. Their heads would swell up to twice normal size, and they would hunker down in one place for a couple of days that usually told the difference between recovery or the Pearly Gates. The experienced cats addressed the snake by the other end, but they never lost fascination with those critters.
As a footnote, readers may recall that we also had Annabelle (red tailed boa constrictor) for 23 years. Annabelle was regularly out of her terrarium on ‘walks’ around the house and yard when we could watch her. Somehow no cat ever addressed or messed with Annabelle’s business end, they showed a healthy respect for something that could obviously eat them.

FWIW, coyotes don’t run in packs (or herds for the illiterate), but are usually solitary animals, occasionally teaming up for “ambush” predation. When they howl, collectively, they are usually at different locations, communicating as it were. I see them in our desert yard daily, never packs, always individuals. Our larger dogs get along with them just fine.
In re: snattlerakes, they, like cobras, have the ability to strike without automatically injecting venom. Venom is metabolically expensive, so if a simple, painful bite from rather long fangs will get the job done, no venom is involved. Approximately 25% of rattlesnake bites are “dry;”
Threaten its life, yeah sure, it’ll waste the venom, but the venom is usually reserved for prey it intends to eat.

Larry- Our school of coyotes number usually three to five and we see them probably once a week come spring well into fall. We have large rock outcrops on our property that both coyotes and bobcats use as denning sites. These schools of coyotes are family aggregates that start to disperse about this time of year. Only in the winter do we see them hunting as solitary animals. I’m not saying that your observations are incorrect, they are simply different than ours. Coyote behavior and social structure run the gamut. When I worked in Yellowstone we would watch coyotes and badgers hunt to together in a symbiotic flock. The badger would send the dirt flying as it dug out Richardson ground squirrels and coyotes would stand guard waiting for any errant squirrel that tried to make a break for it over open ground. For a really cool coyote hybrid video google PBS’s “Meet the Coywolf”
Your observations regarding snake envenomation are well accepted.

Howllllling this time of year. Guess they run out of water and prey which brings them closer this time of year, coyotes I mean. Scaly ones aren’t sunning themselves in the back per the calendar. I feel safe steppin’ over logs this time of years. Man and snakes are natural enemies, IMHO.
Ok, you guys win, I lose. Heads you win, tails I lose. I am, besides a lowly worm, grossly inaccurate.
Well, I tell the grown girls that cats are immune to rattlers so I don’t have bring the feline in at night if I don’t have to. They worry about those kinds of things, even from afar. Lost 9 or so in 3 years, thank goodness. The lone survivor of the feral cat’s 3 litters out the back deck is a keeper. Knows how to survive and he was the most skiddish one as well as the runt of the litter with no personality. My cuddle bug. Oh, he is so soft and sweet and only likes me and hates every other human on earth. Just to prove once again that there is a wrench for every nut.
Ok, more cat talk. Saw a video on YouTube. The neighbor kept loosing her cats and started blaming neighbors’ dogs or the neighbors themselves. Bad blood was growing until the next door neighbor videoed a grey fox killing and eating a cat in the neighborhood, you nature lovers you. No, I don’t have your cat, stop asking.

Boy, Princeton students countering with a petition that all students take a course in Western Civ? That studies of minorities do not have to include just certain disenfranchised minorities? That black dorms are segregation?? That removing Wooddrow Wilson’s name is revisionism? What is going on here on today’s campus?. Sounds too extreme to me.
