Ben will not recover… And the Trumpster will be sure to capitalize!
Is that correct? Trump had this to say concerning Carson On ABC’s This Week.
I hope it all works out, because I don’t want to see Ben have problems over this stuff.
I suppose demonstrating concern for being falsely accused could be seen as a way of capitalizing but I doubt that this is what Jon had in mind.

I for one believe Jon Smith is not, I repeat NOT,, “jon” the troll. Mr. Smith has proven that to me in past posts, and has my seal of approval.
Mr. “S”.. You may have noticed that more than a few ‘jons’ of slightly different spellings show up and aim their South end, North at the proverbial fan. As long as ya’ keep “Smith” friendly fire might be kept at a minimum.

Ben Carson got the Herman Cain treatment. What they just tries to do to Carson has backfired, and come back to bite Politico in the ass.
Carson is a good man. But I care for the hellfire of Trump. Carson is a little too passive for the current job at hand. If the world was a little more stable, and the U.S. with a little more respect, Carson would be a better choice.
Today we need a guy like Trump who has what it takes to give a swift kick to the nuts of the likes of Putin, Kin Jon, and terrorists in general.
Trump will hopefully clean house and put the right people in to head the EPA and the Justice dept.
D.C. needs and enima, but I don’t think Dr. Carson has the ability to find a hose big enough for the job. Trump does.

Now about this Trump thang with Saturday Night Live. For weeks I have been reading about the controversy with the Without Papers crowd who were writing letters ( some in ledigible English no less) to Saturday Night Live demanding Trump’s invite be revolved or else all the taco carts in The Big Apple would be pulled from the mean streets and promises of boycotts, mayhem, and the end of civilization as we know it. Even had that gag at the end of Trumpt’s monologue so Larry could pocket a quick 5 Gees.
So, why in the heck would SNL risk having The Donald host, not to mention its steadily declining ratings since Belushi overdosed and Chevy Chase turned grumpy.
Oh, silly me, this is why.

Thanks Walt. At one time I must have entered (auto spellcheck???) “joe” instead of “jon” on either typepad or wordpress (it kept the same ip, email address, and avatar though). From time to time some cookie kicks in and enters joe on the information line. If anyone ever noticed, I’ve yet to be called on it, but it certainly looks shady. I don’t know how to correct it other than double check the name before clicking “post”. Trust me, I am NOT the other Jon much less the Tater Pig!

Mr. Smith. Yes, we have our disagreements on some issues, but I can see your a stand up guy unlike that other “jon”. All he/she/it can do is hurrell insults, and NEVER supply anything to back up his (uh) arguments. Hell. He/she/it has yet to post (again unlike you) one thing about it/she/he’s background. None.Zip. Another example of the FUE’s award winning journalism appeared on his blog this afternoon in the form of an article titled Local: “Global warming hoax” ad in The Union will “inform many”.
The FUE writes “You never run out of material for this blog.” If that were the case then one might think that he would come up more than quoting comments from others’ blogs.

Best quote – ” Furthermore, if we were to charge a fee – oh, we must never call it a tax – on fossil fuels, wind would be way cheaper — way cheaper. And wind is just one example.”
Oh no – never call it a tax!
Just like ObamaCare – never call it a tax. Unless you’re in a court of law. Then call it a tax.
Next best line – “Yeah, you’re leading to my next point. Part of the solution to this problem or this set of problems associated with climate change is getting the deniers out of our discourse.”
That’s science, folks! Just get anybody that doesn’t agree with you out of the picture and you’re good to go.
Not only is govt not what I was told about in school, but science is now about just going with the power structure and getting rid of nay-sayers.
Just to recap – don’t call things what they are and get rid of anyone who disagrees with you.
    That’s modern science!

“I wanted to give all a heads up on a full page ad scheduled to run Monday, November 9 in the Union concerning the Global Warming Hoax.”
That is truly unfortunate; it is BS, but it isn’t a hoax. The majority of the proponents, especially the ‘scientists’, believe what they are telling people is true. Many are afraid to admit how shaky the evidence because they believe, and really think the end is near.

Concerning the facts and theories of science, if you lie and lie and lie again and again, then it becomes a habit. Some habits are hard to break, especially where money, property, and prestige are at stake. A young scientist today may have to go into Global Warming research just to start paying off his/her student loans and get out of DAD’s house. A tragic ending to what once appeared such a bright future of discovery and disproving hypothesizes. Rubber stamping before the results are in would be the death of my soul, but that’s just me.

When your a “climate change” scamitist relying on OPM, fear mongering is what you do.
When you spend YEARS preaching about global warming,, then shift gears and start calling it “climate change” (because those bogus numbers just aint adding up) you know you don’t know what the hell your talking about. So when this third rock from the sun goes into an ice age, you can still blame it on man. That way you can claim to be right no matter what happens.

Jeffie was right on my comment of 7:18PM, with “And Gregory quoting Professor Richard Feynman is like Ben Carson quoting “Joseph and the pyramids” in a desperate attempt to gain some intellectual credibility.”
    What a putz.
Golly, Jeff, in 1975 I spent an exhilarating afternoon in a Mudd physics colloquium open only to upper division physics students and physics department staff when Feynman came to visit, thanks to one of my professors who was a phd student of Feynman’s at CalTech. By then Feynman was fed up with showing up to talk physics only to have the event in a large auditorium filled with Pellines who just wanted to see a famous scientist saying something he can’t understand. The man was capable of incredible clarity regarding incredibly complex concepts and preferred to share his insights with those who are working to understand such things… I remember wishing I’d gone to CalTech but had that happened I might well have been thinking I wish I’d gone to Mudd.
Come to think of it, I had a very nice exchange with Freeman Dyson a year or two ago over that colloquium. Dyson had made some editorial comment (perhaps in the WSJ) about Feynman’s famous lack of patience with lesser scientists but at that very colloquium Feynman very uncharacteristically became almost reverent to ask Dr. Rojansky, a Mudd professor emeritus, what Paul Dirac’s interpretation of some fine point was… I’d never seen Rojansky so happy to be asked a question and he was always delighted to be asked interesting questions. I finally came to the conclusion that Rojansky, who wrote the first quantum mechanics text in modern QM notation when he was at Union College, may have been Feynman’s first guiding light in the subject as he apparently qrew up not far from the campus. Yes, Feynman had a soft side.
Dyson, one of the few to stand close to Einstein and Feynman in the 20th century was gracious and informative. Warmista Naomi “she’s not as nice as she looks” Oreskes should have been pilloried for her claim during her “Merchants of Doubt” dog and pony show that Dyson was what Pelline would call a “denier” only because he was an old man craving attention after a life in the limelight. History books are going to be very unkind to those who turned the scientific method on its head, substituting personal attacks for reason.
I had the Feynman Lectures in physics on or near my desk throughout my college years. Not for window dressing, to use. Ever crack open a real physics book, Jeff?

Oh, and Jeff, you remain all wet regarding a fine point about math at Cal. There is no “engineering calculus”; the name of the class is just Calculus, and its the same class whether they’re a math, physics, chemistry, engineering or economics major and there is but one Calculus class (with an honor section for those who are particularly masochistic or bright).
Note to readers of this, Jeff in a post he titled “Who’s the smartest Ph.D.?”, not realizing Rebane’s denigrating the Drs. Newsom science background in climate science wasn’t at all about who was smarter… it was about a Medical doctorate having nothing to do with the science behind climate and weather study. That’s physics, not medicine, not the law, not theology, the fields of the other The Union columns and letters outside of Michael Mann himself and if one wants to get a good view of how many of Mann’s peers consider his standing in the field, I suggest reading up on Mark Steyn’s latest book. Here’s a link to get some of that in context:
    http://judithcurry.com/2015/08/13/mark-steyns-new-book-on-michael-mann/
My son even gave up on Chemical Biology as a major at Cal when he discovered he didn’t like collegiate biology’s approach to science and turned to the physics side of chemistry as a result. Too bad, it was his exposure to Bill Newsom and his hematological oncology practice partner Dave Campbell during his mother’s illness that led him to Chemical Biology as the absolute hardest path to an MD in the first place but as George perhaps inartfully (damned Other Voices are too short) stated, medicine isn’t the same sort of science and and those other doctorates probably have less physics understanding than a freshman physics major with a decent score on AP Physics and AP Calculus under his or her belt.

Walt 952am – Not to worry, such launches from soCal are very visible from here at sunset. For future reference consider that the line of sight distance D to the horizon of an observer at height H above earth’s surface is approximated by D = sqrt(2RH) where R = 3957 miles, Earth’s average radius. Solving that for H = (D^2)/2R. Since from here to soCal we have D = 400 miles, this gives an H of about 20 miles (it’s actually less because your observation was not at sea level, but probably at 0.4 mile. Anyway, the powered part of a ballistic missiles trajectory easily takes it above 20 miles therefore making it visible from Nevada County.
