Fish,
We have forms of Sharia Law right here in the United States already, with one exception, it is Christian.
Teen Challenge is a Pray the Gay Away rehab organization.
In Religious Arbitration, Scripture is the Rule of Law
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/03/business/dealbook/in-religious-arbitration-scripture-is-the-rule-of-law.html?_r=0
“But when his family sued Teen Challenge in 2012 hoping to uncover what had happened, they quickly hit a wall. When he was admitted to the program, at age 20, Mr. Ellison signed a contract that prevented him and his family from taking the Christian group to court.
Instead, his claim had to be resolved through a mediation or arbitration process that would be bound not by state or federal law, but by the Bible. “The Holy Scripture shall be the supreme authority,” the rules of the proceedings state.”LikeLike

Hey…you don’t like the dispute resolution process don’t sign the contract. I’m pretty sure Sharia doesn’t give you that option once it manages to entrench itself.LikeLike

BenE 839am – Mr Emery, you miss the point of my 806am response to Jon’s 727am. It’s not about who thinks who is a war criminal, but Jon’s report that Bush1 in his new book calls members of Bush2’s cabinet war criminals, which he does not. The point is about the narrow ideology driven sources you guys get your news and then blindly believe.
I and many on the Right assiduously comb the progressive and socialist media to inform ourselves of what are their latest initiatives and worldview, and also what is never mentioned there. Apparently such an undertaking is decidedly one-sided.
So you and Jon have again illustrated two aspects of the liberal mind – consuming erroneous input, and losing the logical thread of an argument. While such proclivities continue to serve useful illustration, they do not and cannot advance any discussion of an issue.LikeLike
-
George, of course the term “War Criminal” when applied to Rumsfeld and Cheney is perfectly accurate when objectively assessing their Iraqi decisions. Yes, its my terminology, universally accepted by progressives.
Fish, what would be your objection to young middle eastern refugees families becoming an economic engine in the current economic wasteland called rural Europe? They’re not going back and Europe will have to settle them. What would you do? In the US, same thing- they could potentially fill massive gaps in our heartland in our abandoned areas.LikeLike

My world views are pretty eclectic and bound to piss everybody off. My views are fact based rather than faith based. . . but often I don’t have much faith in the facts. I am not religious in a secular sense. I believe that concealed carry is a right until a person abuses that right or proves he is incapable of making responsible decisions. I believe in a woman’s right to abortion. When there is choice between growth and environmental protection, I usually sway toward protecting our natural resources. I am of the belief we are borrowing this planet from our children and we should give it to them in better shape than we inherited it. Climate change is real, I’m pretty sure humans have had in impact on that change, but am not so presumptuous as to claim to know how much impact we’ve had. I don’t believe in black and white and that’s why I tilt at both the far right and far left bloggers who claim to know what is best for the rest of us. I take it as the highest badge of honor to have some dork like Pelline tell me to “pack sand.” When he asks for examples of far left wing nut cases and I provide them (Senum, Pelline, and 30% of the people who shop at Briar Patch) he shows his true colors by censoring my response. He doesn’t want debate, we wants minions.LikeLike

GeorgeR, 9:07 AM, very accurate explanation. The new book on Bush the Elder is not a autobiography. It never says a think about “war criminals” in the Bush 2 admin. But the libnuts like Bene Emery and “jon”, as all libnuts do, tries to change the truth and put words in the mouths of others. Sharia law is a terrible thing Ben Emery. Just look at what those wonders of the Islamic world do to their women. And if you swipe something your hands are chopped off. Worse, if you change religions they chop off your noggin. So, if you think it is here you are truly nuts.
I think it will be very interesting to see what Europe does with all these Islamic” folks invading them. Many countries are putting up walls. Germany is now rethinking their invitation. Here, we will be asking the illegals to go back to their country of origon.LikeLike
-
Who is contesting that Sharia Law is not a bad thing for an advanced society?
No one I know. My Muslim friends mock the concept every time I see them.LikeLike

Always arguing facts not in evidence aren’t you! If you’ve been following the reports the bulk of these people are the young indolent male spawn of the middle east. You have no evidence that they have any interest in working…in fact the reason so many are insisting upon Germany and Sweden is for the lavish welfare benefits. I’ve been arguing for a couple of years now that Europe is finished…..I see no reason to doubt my conclusion now.
You go right on believing your “I’d like to buy the world a Coke” nonsense….we’ll talk again in 5 years and compare notes as to how everything turned outLikeLike

Awfully big of you dealing with your progressive guilt issues by the desire to inflict an alien culture on an already struggling Europe.
These people would probably do far better by remaining within their cultural milieu and remaining in the middle east. After all….if they’re such an economic bonanza the Saudis, Qatarians, Yemenis, etc. should be glad to take them!
Why do you suppose their brother muslims don’t want to extend a little middle eastern hospitality?LikeLike

fish | 05 November 2015 at 10:13 AM
Great points fish. I have always been curious why the “peaceful” Arab and Muslim countries won’t allow these “refugees” into their countries. Jordan has more Palestinians than Jordanians. But Jordan keeps them in “camps” and has since 1948.
Turkey is now escorting the “refugees” over the Dardanelles on their way to Europe. Of course the Ottoman Turks owned the Balkans and Greece for five hundred years until the Serbs booted them after WW1. Now they just sit back and let their fellow Muslims flood the countries they could not conquer with arms.
“jon” what has a “god fearing Christian” have to do with this?LikeLike

Um, lets see- could be they are oil-dominated, totalitarian, closed societies.
Much of Europe is clearly in need of young, productive immigrants. Should the rotting European nations reject young, productive immigrants in order to maintain purity of their races, while their economies whither and die?LikeLike

Yes exactly….these people are coming from “oil-dominated, totalitarian, closed societies”.
They’ll be right at home staying in the middle east.LikeLike

fish, would seeking a better life and opportunities for their family not be a natural human desire? Funny, I always heard that’s what brought the original settlers to America. You would deny this to the displaced innocents of today?
Of course, perhaps you think most or all of them are current or potential terrorists. Do you have indication that these innocent people fleeing from terrorists and oppression are also terrorists?LikeLike
-
Posted by: Jon | 05 November 2015 at 10:38 AM
Again jon….and I notice you neatly avoided the issue with another trite notion….” would seeking a better life and opportunities for their family not be a natural human desire” is that these people would be better off in an environment that they understand. Tribal Islam is their culture and they can transition with far less effort and impact to the traditional European cultures by remaining in the middle east.
You are correct though they are going to Europe and we wait with bated breath to watch them turn into the economic juggernaut that you predict.
As I said…..we can compare notes again on the issue in a few years!LikeLike
-
“jon” who says I am a “good” Christian? My understanding is Christians try to teach people to “fish” rather than giving them one all the time. So it appears that is what the West has done. But, if these people want peace, they have to either accept their fate in their own countries or take up arms and get rid of the thugs. In Syria, they tried to boot Assad but your Obama erased his “redline” and sent them into endless war. You should be very proud. Your hero Obama sold those “revolutionary’s” to their death. What a awful President you love.

In my view Rumsfeld and Cheney are indeed war criminals because they knowingly led us to war under false pretenses causing the death of thousands of Americans and innocent civilians in Iraq. They claimed war was justified for our national defense which was not true. The real reason for the war was for strategic resources. Yes,they and others involved in the selling of the war are war criminals.

jon, you really have to broaden your reading. You continually express the narrow uninformed progressive stereotypical perspective regardless of what’s happening in the world.
The Islamic migrants forcing their way into Europe are not running for their lives; they are seeking to make a new life in an economically rich environment – they are illegal economic migrants the same as are our Hispanics coming across our border.
And they do not seek to legally enter another peoples land and assimilate. No, they demand to be let in and then be given the wherewithal to establish their own expanding cultural enclaves. This is called colonization, just like the Europeans achieved in the Americas.
EU’s welcoming spirit lasted a few short months until the dolts in government realized what kind of tsunami they were in for. The latest to tell their European neighbors ‘Enough!’ is the prime minister of Sweden (one of the two ‘sweet spots’ for the illegal Muslims). No European country today is either lauding or celebrating their entrenched Muslim cohorts.
Christians have no imperative to commit cultural and economic suicide, especially at the hands of people who despise their faith and seek to import a culture that is foreign to every western value.LikeLike
-
PaulE 204pm – Paul, in your view what are the allowable reasons for going to war (I remove self-defense when attacked from the list)?
So you know that I’m not sandbagging you, I believe that assuring or gaining a reliable supply of strategic resources is and has always been a valid reason for war, especially if alternative means are not possible. That is one reason why proponents of world trade are so adamant in their efforts to expand it. Their mantra is ‘When goods don’t cross borders, armies will.’
Hope I get more than crickets this time.LikeLike

One time honored reason for resuming hostilities is one party violating the terms of a cease fire. Regime change in Iraq was the approved policy of the USA starting in the Clinton Administration and the Ba’athist rulers flouted all (ALL) demands of the UN as the supervisors of the cease fire and had actively bribed officials they were relying on to thwart US pushes in the Security Council to bring Iraq in line.
We should never have waded in the mess for Desert Shield/Storm, and once we did, “HW” punted to the UN rather than finish the job. Clinton let it fester, and “W” didn’t have that luxury. Iraq was fomenting terrorism and the world (and the US) was better off without him, but Bush II blew the endgame and Obama did even worse.
Paul, it’s time to give the Bush Derangement Syndrome a rest.
Europe is now in deep; it’s anyone’s guess how many of the “refugees” are actually refugees. We live in interesting times.LikeLike
-
George, in regard to your last point- much of developed central Europe is majority Secular these days- these nations as a whole are as from Christian dominant as it can get. I don’t think you or anyone else has very comprehensive data on the motivations or intentions of these refugees. I believe from reading the dispatches, they ARE running for their lives at this point. They are not terrorists, at least the vast, vast majority, they are fleeing from terror. Some have the future potential to be radicalized. But places like the rural hills of Italy and Greece could be very viable places to settle to start filling in vast economic gaps in those places. Large numbers crowding into ghettos within cities would of course be troublesome, as we have seen in France- of course I would agree.

Interesting that you’re such a proponent of banking crony capitalism jon….well maybe not really.
it’s early June in Washington, D.C. Barack Obama, a popular young politician whose leading private campaign donor was an investment bank called Goldman Sachs – its employees paid some $981,000 to his campaign – sits in the White House. Having seamlessly navigated the political minefield of the bailout era, Goldman is once again back to its old business, scouting out loopholes in a new government-created market with the aid of a new set of alumni occupying key government jobs.Gone are HankPaulson and Neel Kashkari; in their place are Treasury chief of staff Mark Patterson and CFTC chief Gary Gensler, both former Goldmanites. (Gensler was the firm’s co-head of finance.) And instead of credit derivatives or oil futures or mortgage-backed CDOs, the new game in town, the next bubble, is in carbon credits – a booming trillion dollar market that barely even exists yet, but will if the Democratic Party that it gave $4,452,585 to in the last election manages to push into existence a groundbreaking new commodities bubble, disguised as an “environmental plan,” called cap-and-trade.
The new carbon-credit market is a virtual repeat of the commodities-market casino that’s been kind to Goldman, except it has one delicious new wrinkle: If the plan goes forward as expected, the rise in prices will be government-mandated. Goldman won’t even have to rig the game. It will be rigged in advance.
Here’s how it works: If the bill passes, there will be limits for coal plants, utilities, natural-gas distributors and numerous other industries on the amount of carbon emissions (a.k.a. greenhouse gases) they can produce per year. If the companies go over their allotment, they will be able to buy “allocations” or credits from other companies that have managed to produce fewer emissions: President Obama conservatively estimates that about $646 billion worth of carbon credits will be auctioned in the first seven years; one of his top economic aides speculates that the real number might be twice or even three times that amount.
The feature of this plan that has special appeal to speculators is that the “cap” on carbon will be continually lowered by the government, which means that carbon credits will become more and more scarce with each passing year. Which means that this is a brand-new commodities market where the main commodity to be traded is guaranteed to rise in price over time. The volume of this new market will be upwards of a trillion dollars annually; for comparison’s sake, the annual combined revenues of all’ electricity suppliers in the U.S. total $320 billion.
Goldman wants this bill. The plan is (1) to get in on the ground floor of paradigm-shifting legislation, (2) make sure that they’re the profit-making slice of that paradigm and (3) make sure the slice is a big slice. Goldman started pushing hard for cap-and-trade long ago, but things really ramped up last year when the firm spent $3.5 million to lobby climate issues. (One of their lobbyists at the time was none other than Patterson, now Treasury chief ofstaff.) Back in 2005, when Hank Paulson was chief of Goldman, he personally helped author the bank’s environmental policy, a document that contains some surprising elements for a firm that in all other areas has been consistently opposed to any sort of government regulation. Paulson’s report argued that “voluntary action alone cannot solve the climate-change problem.” A few years later, the bank’s carbon chief, Ken Newcombe, insisted that cap-and-trade alone won’t be enough to fix the climate problem and called for further public investments in research and development. Which is convenient, considering that Goldman made early investments in wind power (it bought a subsidiary called Horizon Wind Energy), renewable diesel (it is an investor in a firm called Changing World Technologies) and solar power (it partnered with BP Solar), exactly the kind of deals that will prosper if the government forces energy producers to use cleaner energy. As Paulson said at the time, “We’re not making those investments to lose money.”Goldman Sachs…president Bunny (who has been a fabulous investment for the banking community)…Hank Paulson….the usual suspects are all here!
And, best of all, Goldman’s next, and potentially biggest, massive revenue stream has the cover of doing what is “socially right”, and is, according to the NY AG, backed by science.
That, in a nutshell, are the two sides of the “climate change” debate, and without taking either side, we show whose financial interests are most at stake.LikeLike

When there is choice between growth and environmental protection, I usually sway toward destroying our natural resources. I am of the belief that when it comes to natural resources it’s “use ’em or lose ’em. Why risk giving the next generation a choice? Climate change is not real and there is no conceivable way 7 billion humans and their activities can influence the environment. The minute a migrant leaves Syria or a rapacious African country and enters a land in which he is not pursued to be killed or maimed, his further migration is motivated by economics, not personal safety. And I would honor the assessments of Europeans re Muslim migration more than local American liberals who haven’t seen an illegal border crossing they didn’t like. For the record, tonight Wash Post is reporting that European leaders believe that the current migration promises to “destabilize Europe”.
Tonight Quinnipiac also reports its latest poll. It seems that 2 out of 3 Dems want to go to war in Syria and have Obama send in more troops. Less half GOP are similarly motivated.

What’s wrong “jon”? Truth comes back to bite? Moonbat and crew do everything to stick it to the people in the name of “ECO” then Moonbat goes and uses Ca. money and people to see if there is exploitable goods on his property? OHHH yes INDEED ” BASTARD” fit’s the crime!
There there are the lying bastards of AGW. Facts say otherwise, like more ice growing at the poles and Greenland than is melting, then doctor the records thinking they won’t get caught. ( YUP,, Bastards…ONE and all.)
Then there is the guy from the EPA who fled the U.S. because he did’t want to fess up about monkey business within the EPA about the Pebble Mine in Alaska. (yup,, that’s back in the news.)LikeLike

So the attacker with a knife at Merced Collage turns out to be Muslim.
The same style attack that Israel is dealing with. So now it comes here.LikeLike

What people like “jon” don’t understand is regardless if someone is “religious” and practicing or now “secular” most will agree they hold “Christian values”. How many times have we heard from the “secularists” that they can be good people but not have to go to church? I hear that from numerous folks. So, the country may be a “secular” country but they are totally influenced by biblical morality and ethics. So the mass migration/invasion of Muslims will be a huge problem for those countries. They are now waking up to that.
Bush and Cheney are not “war criminals”. Hey Paul Emery, what if the Hague said all those reservists during the Vietnam War were war criminals because the Hague says they were complicit. Maybe the World Court with a Judges from Zimbabwe, Libya and Vietnam would like to indict you.LikeLike
