Can some cleverer minds remind us what now the congressional Republicans have to bargain with a rogue hard left Executive branch once they have forfeited the power of the purse which the Constitution specifically reserved for them and them alone? gjr]
Have no interest in hack Congressional investigations of anyone. I’d rather see legislation moving on the hundreds of serious issues that need attending to in this nation.

Jon it turns out that the Arctic is far less ice free than many thought or expected just some years ago. So how wrong can the models be!

The study finds that in 2014 “more ice survived the summer as MYI than in the nine most recent years” and it was only “slightly less than during 1968–2015 on average (Figure S5)“.
Also “between November 2014 and April 2015, winter air temperatures were between −0.5°C and −1.5°C colder than during 1980–2010.”
Moreover the study also has climate experts profoundly postponing yet another prediction: The Northwest passage will not be navigable for another 40 years…let alone the Arctic becoming ice free!
Again the real world data trumps your climate models. It seems to me if you are a logical human being, the facts that the models are more wrong than right, you would begin to question the validity of the models. However, you seem to be locked into closed mind mode that only the NYT can access with it’s hysterical science.

Comes out today that the Russians have been flying Iranian arms into Syria twice a day for the last 10 days, that’s 20 aircraft loads of violations of the UN arms embargo on Iran. Some good news coming out of Syria regarding the Russians ability to keep their aircraft in the air. Satellites showing they are breaking down at high levels and the number of aircraft in the air has been severely degraded. They sent their best and the mission availability rate is dismal. Up tempo air ops are not easy and even the best wrench turner can not make up for poor manufacturing quality. Just ask the Indians about their joint venture for a 5th gen that has the Indian’s saying the russian plane is junk and they are not going to pay for it.

I’m a little out of touch right now due to travel but the salient point made by the article, confirmed by the house committee and that I made was that all of the ‘science’ meaning the studies have been handed over. I think NOAA made its point about the email. If private sector scientists and academics can’t protect their discussions they will be subject to attack and discrimination from ideologues.

Jon is back and still hasn’t learned enough to read the Danish Meteorological Institute ice pages, nor has he owned up the the NY Times article he was citing as his gospel didn’t actually state that the recent Greenland summer melting was out of the ordinary range as indicated by the DMI page I linked.
The problem for Jon is that the NY Times is not a primary scientific source; the DMI is.

If they want to be free from Congressional oversight they should steer clear of Federal grants and Federal agencies. NOAA is clearly subject to Congressional oversight and if you send email to NOAA servers, expect it to be part of the Federal record.

Stevenfrisch 336pm – So that there is no misunderstanding, “all of the ‘science’” does NOT mean the only “the studies”, but also the relevant data and its inevitable production pathway. One of the very sore points of the PGW controversy is that its adherents have played politics with their reports of disclosing the work behind their much publicized conclusions. The politics is that they convince lay people like yourself that submitting a published report with either no data or only processed data included is a scientific disclosure. Such pronouncements only convince the great unwashed similar to Hillary or the IRS citing the number of pages of emails that they have turned over to investigators – these are meaningless figures intended only to impress the gruberized.
To be clear, there is no necessity for the research staffs to turn over their work communications, given that there was no perfidy involved. The data used and the normal detailed reports of methodology and substantive reasoning will suffice. However, the reports that I have seen of NOAA’s disclosures fits nicely into the above described bag of tricks. And why not, any complaints of insufficiency, no matter how valid, will be labeled again as a politicized witch hunt that then buys time, fades memories, and gives opportunity for spinning more yarns to confuse the issue. Obama’s administration has well demonstrated that even Congress has a short attention span and low threshold for political pain and principle.

Now, I and the President of The Navajo Nation asks, “If the toxins are so harmless, why did the EPA take over 10 days to even admit the poison was released by Steve’s EPA into the river and dire warnings were issued?? If the heavy metals are so harmless, why even bother to clean up the site? Why, if a private company could be found to hold responsible for polluting the earth, the EPA would go after the company with everything they had, including prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law and seeking untold millions in fines and beating the guilty with the ugly stick from now to eternity.
But, when government commits the crime, the water is safe. Guess the EPA and government scientists were just kidding around when they declared the toxins cause cancer. Oh, they are bunch of jokers, I can assure you. Funny guys our protectors of drinking water. Another one of those “do as I say, not as I do.” We just don’t have a need to know.
