Corporatism – when government has less to sell, there are fewer buyers.

[Boehner's swansong highlights the problems conservatives have had with the man for some time now.  There doesn't seem to be a hill worth dying on in his political geography.  Can some cleverer minds remind us what now the congressional Republicans have to bargain with a rogue hard left Executive branch once they have forfeited the power of the purse which the Constitution specifically reserved for them and them alone?  gjr]

A total compromise budget is “hard left”? lol. Could it be that the 4 leaders of Congress didn’t look at the annual budget process in military terms of killing and destroying, but rather a way to come together and do something bi-partisan for once? Split country, split philosophies- seems like a compromise budget is about right. And the full faith and credit of the US is fairly important I would think.
On another note, re: the big NYT piece today on the melting of Greenland. Would like comments from the denialist types here always talking about a new ice age and building up of ice in polar/cold regions. Is this piece about Greenland a lie? Why is Greenland’s ice pack now largely a series of rivers draining to the ocean?

If you look at the Acc. SMB (Gt) chart about 2/3rds down, you’ll see that Greenland is currently adding ice mass at a rate above the 2 sigma level variations for the date. The scary articles that are keeping you up at night are projections assuming IPCC predictions are correct.

Good thing Greenland is melting. Manna from Heaven for Europe. Now the EU has a place to send their unwanted Muslim communities full of rapists and shaby abusers of all women, be they Muslim or normal ladies. Greenland is the perfect place for refugees from the Stone Age. There they can hump their goats without resistance until the sheep come home. Lots of elbow room as well. Only drawback for the them is there may not be enough native white women in Greenland to satisfy their bloodlust. But, all in all, melt Greenland, melt!! The sooner the better.

OK, Jon which of these paper indicating the current melting is not unusual, would you like to discuss first? I can create a dedicate page at http://sierrafoothillcommentary.com for the discussion and I will block all the troll. We can have a nice examination of the facts.
    Abstract – 20 April 2012
An aerial view of 80 years of climate-related glacier fluctuations in southeast Greenland
…the recent retreat was matched in its vigour during a period of warming in the 1930s with comparable increases in air temperature. We show that many land-terminating glaciers underwent a more rapid retreat in the 1930s than in the 2000s, whereas marine-terminating glaciers retreated more rapidly during the recent warming….

    Abstract – 10 Nov 2011
High variability of Greenland surface temperature over the past 4000 years estimated from trapped air in an ice core
….The record indicates that warmer temperatures were the norm in the earlier part of the past 4000 years, including century-long intervals nearly 1°C warmer than the present decade (2001–2010). Therefore, we conclude that the current decadal mean temperature in Greenland has not exceeded the envelope of natural variability over the past 4000 years, a period that seems to include part of the Holocene…..

    Abstract – 14 July 2009
Greenland Ice Sheet Surface Air Temperature Variability: 1840–2007
…The annual whole ice sheet 1919–32 warming trend is 33% greater in magnitude than the 1994–2007 warming. The recent warming was, however, stronger along western Greenland in autumn and southern Greenland in winter….

    Abstract – 20 June 2006
Greenland warming of 1920–1930 and 1995–2005
We provide an analysis of Greenland temperature records to compare the current (1995–2005) warming period with the previous (1920–1930) Greenland warming. We find that the current Greenland warming is not unprecedented in recent Greenland history. Temperature increases in the two warming periods are of a similar magnitude, however, the rate of warming in 1920–1930 was about 50% higher than that in 1995–2005.

Now NOAA joins the IRS, State Dept, EPA, DoJ, … in their refusal to cooperate with Congress. And the usual progressive chorus again launches into their rendition of the Witch Hunt Chorus. (You are sure to find additional editions of Exhibit A in the sequel.)

It’s a sideshow but a sideshow the Congress has a right to pursue.
Regarding Jon’s Greenland sideshow, the NYT article was about a few scientists doing fieldwork to gather information in an attempt to validate their computer models which remain unvalidated, meaning they got grants to produce models with scary output and now they’re trying to validate the results. In the meantime we have the DMI pages showing Greenland ice gaining mass in October at a rate larger than the 2 sigma range of the past…, and all the recent seasonal mass changes being within recent natural variations (summer melt, winter freeze), but that’s just weather.
