“jon” you are a troll and not smart. Give it up. Jeeze what a ignoramus.
CO2 is a “pollutant” not because thje Congress said it is or isn’t. The courts did. So once again they screwed over thew American people. Next thing we know the EPA will tell everyone to remove every green plant from the planet as it spews that evil CO2.
Lastly, Mt Pinatbo put out almost as much particulates as “jon” the troll and Frisch the “huge” do while yapping.LikeLike

Here is how much the atmosphere weighs for all those “deniers” of the truth that AGW is a hoax.
“The total mass of Earth’s atmosphere is about 5.5 quadrillion tons, or roughly one millionth of Earth’s mass”
So “jon” and Flisch, what is that percentage into the weight?
Here is the link.

Fear, paranoia, no just an understanding of facts a with historical perspective. Not some tired old deflections of an apologist for incompetence in foreign policy such as the ‘jon’ offers. But what should we expect from an alyinsky trained organizer, Chicago ward boss toy? The very same negotiating style that has Rahm Emanuel genuflecting before the teachers union in a bankrupt Chicago. Another executive agreement without congressional oversight instead of a formal treaty?

I do not take by marching orders from Libholes, honkie. You are not allowed to say cracker, white bread. You must follow your bullet points and not stray from the 80 year old script. Administrivia – Folks, I’m getting more than a little bored and bothered with the number of exchanges that involve nothing but Naked Ad Hominems (NAHs). They fill my email inboxes and extend the time that I must take in reading readers’ comments. Since polite requests have not worked, I will henceforth do my best just to cull all NAHs. To qualify as an NAH, a comment must possess precious little in its addition to the discussion of topics at hand. Unfortunately for some, I will be the final judge of what is a NAH. In favor of all mudball chuckers, my record for leniency here is well established.

“It is important to bear in mind that the Republicans have long abandoned the pretense of functioning as a normal parliamentary party. Rather, they have become a “radical insurgency” that scarcely seeks to participate in normal parliamentary politics, as observed by the respected conservative political commentator Norman Ornstein of the right-wing American Enterprise Institute. Since Ronald Reagan, the leadership has plunged so far into the pockets of the very rich and the corporate sector that they can attract votes only by mobilizing sectors of the population that have not previously been an organized political force, among them extremist evangelical Christians, now probably the majority of Republican voters; remnants of the former slave-holding States; nativists who are terrified that “they” are taking our white Christian Anglo-Saxon country away from us; and others who turn the Republican primaries into spectacles remote from the mainstream of modern society—though not the mainstream of the most powerful country in world history.” – Noam Chomsky

Jon @ 11pm.
Just a minor point of clarification. Your post last night is in The Sanbox. Sure, the thread might have veered off the VW thang, but it is in the Sandbox were many topics of interest are introduced at any time by anyone for any reason. The Sandbox serves to keep the non-post stuff out of, say, a Muslim as President or AWG or Common Core or whatever the topic of Dr. Rebane’s posts. Thus, there is plenty of off thread stuff, but not off post as evidenced the two recent comments of Brother Ben. The thread at hand usually is quickly supplanted by another topic that is of someone’s immediate interest. The Sandbox is a good place to interject a topic which has no other place to put it. And it is where the sand kicking is relegated to. Thus, I disagree in principle with your characterization of “great topic, wrong thread” in regards to the Sandbox. Seems you really want to discuss more of this VW thang. That news item really got your dander up, did it not?
This is what is on my mind this morning, fit for the free wheeling Sandbox. More visual aids. A bit of silliness, eh?

Jon 942am – not sure I understand your question. Perhaps we don’t share a common terminology. The taxonomy here goes as follows – the blog is divided into dated and authored commentaries. Each such commentary has an appended COMMENT STREAM, and each such stream may further consist of separate COMMENT THREADS, each thread addressing a different facet of the topical commentary or a different topic altogether in a sandbox.
This is a sandbox, so anyone is welcome to start a new thread or respond to an existing one. However, it does defeat the purpose of a topical commentary if readers post their comments about the topic in a nearby sandbox. But I do realize that different threads may branch out sufficiently to intertwine, and then even take off in a new direction. Such types of divergent incests are best conducted in RR’s sandboxes instead of under topical commentary posts.LikeLike

One thing about Trump you lefties should praise is he has taken on Fox News, the dreaded nemesis to the Left. “Why can’t Fox be more like CNN, MSMBC, ABC, NBC?”, the progressives have wailed aloud for years. Even our current President started in early on Fox in 2009 and returns to that well to draw more water from time to time. I am surprised that Fox was not held 100% responsible AND accountable for that guy who plugged Gabby in her melon.
Now Trump comes along and has fueled the Boycott Fox movement. He has done what no Libby could do, what no lawmaker has achieved, with or without the Fairness Doctrine. I wish I was a fly on the wall when The Donald picked up the phone and called Roger A. Heard Roger was incensed after Trump told him to eat caca and die.
So, the Trump dude has fulfilled the libbie wet dream (almost) and as a direct result of the Donald telling it like is, Fox’s ratings have finally after all these years begin to show some kinks in the amour. But, I suppose that is not good enough for the far left radical extremists cause Fox has not been taken off the air….yet.
Point is: with The Donald around, there are no scared cows, no place to hide. Not bad for a man that isn’t even a true believer nor conservative. An equal opportunity offender. My kind of guy.
As far as Ann Couter, it does seem way out of character for her. I will only say that she would look better if she put alittle more meat on her bones. Not enough to have to wear a designer pants suit to hide the belly and buttocks, but somewhere in between.
Finally, I have made my decision. I am voting for O’Malley. Sounds Irish enough to me. So, I will vote for him solely because he has Irish blood a’flowing in his blue veiners. That is all I need know and it saves time reading up on his first name or what he spouts. If you don’t vote for Whatzhisname O’Malley, then you hate the drunken Irish. Oh boy Walt, a new puppie. I just got one as well, but at 12 weeks old, she is pushing at least 55 lbs already. Gonna be a big one. At least pups sleep most of the day to give us time to save the trash from the dog, as well as shoes and the kitty. She loves goats, though. How odd. She even likes me. Not very spiritually developed as she eats what the cat drags in. :).
Yo Walt, come on and throw Jon a bone, will ya. You don’t have to believe it, just tell him anything he wants to hear to appease his tormented soul. Come on, toss him a pacifier. I am tired of playing the good cop in the good cop-bad cop routine. Here’s a big kitty krunchy for the sandbox, Steven Frisch in another mudpit, regarding the AP styleguide update that deletes “denier” from climate stories:
stevefrisch says:
September 24, 2015 at 9:01 am
I have been reflecting on the new AP standards since they were announce and have come to the conclusion, like the un-named initial comment, that they are entirely too kind.
Before I get to why the standards are too kind, I think it is unlikely that very many journalists are going to replace the one word ‘denier’ with the phrase ‘those who reject mainstream climate science.’ It is too long, unwieldy and profligate in its use of words for journalists to replace one word, whether it be ‘skeptic’ or ‘denier.’
But the larger problem is that they seem to be changing the standard because climate deniers are offended by the implied reference to holocaust denial.
The word ‘denier’ did not come into common usage to describe a mindset as a descriptor of those who deny the existence of the holocaust, it was used by Sigmund Freud to describe a psychological condition and defense mechanism commonly used by drug addicts [which Freud knew a thing or two about] and terminal cancer patients who refuse treatment to avoid acknowledging the depth of their addiction or the terminal nature of their illness.
As used by Freud, and as used by journalists, the word ‘denier’ means nothing more than a person who refuses to accept the existence, truth, or validity of something. It is a neutral term. The word itself does not establish whether the thing being denied actually exists, it identifies the subject as denying its existence.
What those who do not believe climate change exists, or that portions of the problem are human caused, are really rejecting, is that almost every time in human history the word ‘denier’ has been associated in popular language usage with rejecting the existence of something, science and logic prove them wrong.
If climate deniers are uncomfortable with being associated with holocaust deniers, vaccine deniers, moon landing deniers, 911 deniers, round earth deniers, they must deal with the fact that they are on equally shaky ground as the deniers who came before them.
Let’s apply Sigmund Freud and his use of the term ‘denier’ in drug addiction to our modern climate deniers.
The first stage of ‘denial’ is to deny the very existence of the thing that is being identified. This is a simple denial of fact, and we see that in the climate debate every day, as climate deniers look at the preponderance of the facts and cherry pick only the ones that support their belief.
The second stage of denial to Freud was denial of responsibility. We see that every day as well as climate deniers alternately blame some other source for the problem [solar activity, volcanism, natural cycles, etc]; minimize the impact [climate change may be happening but it is less harmful than stated]; justify the impact [it is our economy or our environment]; or regress to name calling, conspiracy theories or ulterior motivation.
The third Freudian stage of is denial of impact: the denier avoids thinking about or understanding the harms of his or her own behavior and its impact on him/herself or others, thus absolving themselves of guilt or responsibility by downplaying consequences and prevent him/her from developing remorse or empathy for others. [more CO2 will lead to enhanced plant growth and less people will go hungry].
The fourth stage is denial of cycle, or avoiding looking at decisions leading up to an impact or considering the decisions that led up to an impact, thus repeating the cycle until death occurs. We see that as the hubristic view that we may know that there is a problem [pollution] but we have no choice but to continue polluting because the perceived benefits of the pollution are so great that we cannot avoid them. [I see this every day as the ridiculous view that because carbon emissions have reduced poverty we have no choice but to continue emitting, never considering the fact that we can reduce poverty and reduce emissions at the same time, which is actually kind of the Pope’s point].
The fifth stage is denial of awareness, which we see as the insistence that there may be a preponderance of evidence but the ‘denier’ simply refuses to see it. [the source of data is flawed, or has ulterior motives, or is seeking grants, or are not really scientists, or I am smarter than them so why should I listen–in short the George Rebane syndrome.]
The final stage is ‘denial of denial’; we see that every day on the blogs wen illogical pontificators stamp their feet like children and say, “I am not a denier.”
In Freud’s world this phenomenon is expressed in the shorthand “DARVO.”
DARVO is an acronym to describe a common strategy of deniers: Deny the abuse, then attack the victim for attempting to make them accountable for their offense, thereby reversing victim and offender. We see this every day when climate deniers claim to be some sort of discriminated against victimized group.
To say that these people are not ‘climate deniers’ and that the term is inaccurate is a mistake by the AP, and I seriously doubt people are going to adopt ‘new language’ to gloss over the real source of the problem, a group within our society that is so addicted to the profit and comfort of bearing no responsibility for their actions that they engage in some sort of Orwellian fantasy to rationalize their behavior.I think it more likely that the NYT is backing off of the “denier” label because they’ve figured out there is more science on the side of the opposition than they were willing to believe when the term crawled out of the neo-Nazi ooze to similarly defame folks based on their understanding of the science that is involved. In journalism and in science, folks who bought into the Warmist story are looking towards the exits and planning on saving face.
There might be value in revisiting the Kubler-Ross stages of loss and grief:

After the glee of the release of the IPCC AR4 and AB32, the momentum has ceased, the hated “deniers” have refused to shut up and continue to gain ground in public opinion. And, as Lovelock stated five years ago,“The great climate science centres around the world are more than well aware how weak their science is. If you talk to them privately they’re scared stiff of the fact that they don’t really know what the clouds and the aerosols are doing. They could be absolutely running the show. We haven’t got the physics worked out yet.”
On top of all that, the gold standard for measuring atmospheric temps, the satellites put in space to get a global view, have shown the air (which by the theory Frisch bought into is leading the warming) really did stop its forecast increase for nearly 19 years now, measurements confirmed by weather balloon soundings. Alarmists claim it’s a pause, others suspect it was a maximum and we’ll be in a cooling (or already are).
I put it to this blog that Steve Frisch is currently in the 2nd stage for California, and the 3rd stage of loss and grief for the world and the nation as a whole. He’ll not move to Depression and Acceptance until our one party state of California moves back towards the center and drops Climate Change as a raison d’etre.LikeLike

Well Walt, let me show you how it’s done: Tired of waiting in eager anticipation myself.
Yo Paul and Steve. Nothing behind my back, no fingers crossed. I dug up a visual aid that I believe you would actually enjoy for once. A token offering for common ground. Yep, I can see why you donate to Them Ladies Not a bad choice. I personally would like to send the one on the far right a donation as well. Not as photogenic as the others, but I can’t resist a woman who holds on to a wee bit of mystic….or any woman in uniform.
Figure the Kurds are like those bastardi red headed step children that get the short end of the stick. Saddam gased them, the Turks bomb them, and ISIS shells them. They are my new favorite underdog. Like, the Kurds are in no man’s land sitting on all that oil and tough as nails. Not Arabs, not Persians, not Turks or Gypies. And nobody claims them as their own. Plus, we all know who wears the pants in their families.
We agree on something besides hating Blavk Velvet Elvis Portraits. Enjoy.

See Walt. Toss a little sexism their way and it soothes The Better Party’s savage beast. A win-win situation and nobody gets butt hurt.
