Someone explain to me why farmers are experiencing labor shortages while 1 out of 4 black youth are unemployed and a bunch of illegals have high unemployment rates? Well, for a non-newsflash starter, there ain’t no farms in our barrios, ghettos, or suburbia. Also, the new wave does not like living in bunkhouses and trailer parks 15 miles from the nearest pavement. Sure, lots of Latino music on the airwaves, but this be a farm to city crowd. Closer to the services. Maybe they don’t want to work were the drought has dried up the outdoor showers and buying paper plates along with bottled water is expensive, not to mention murdering trees and who knows what they put in those machines that make plastic bottles. Not very green. Not very Eco-friendly.
The real answer is Mexico, Central America, and Latin’ Ametica’s booming economies that make hopping the fence and walking across the endangered desert tortoise’s badlands not so appealing. They are staying home working less for more pay. Or maybe not. :). People are social beings and birds of a feature flock together. The action ain’t in the agricultural zones, but where there are movie houses and bright city lights. And more women. Stay in the trades and you can rent a place with electricity on demand and indoor plumbing. Heck, let the lawn turn brown and let the veggies rot. There are women and Asian women, and all kinds of women in the Urban Rat Cages.LikeLike

From 2012,,
“When pressed, most farmers and their spokespersons could not point to specific instances of California crops that were not harvested for lack of labor. Tulare County Agricultural Commissioner Marilyn Kinoshita said: “I don’t think we have a [labor] crisis on our hands.” Kinoshita emphasized that workers aim to maximize their earnings, and that complaints from tree-fruit growers of too few workers to thin and harvest their crops reflect the fact that workers can earn more harvesting vegetables.”
http://migration.ucdavis.edu/rmn/more.php?id=1692
From this year,,
“Workers could previously earn enough money in the U.S. in a few months to live comfortably the rest of the year in Mexico, he said.
Greater border security has discouraged people from returning to Mexico, prompting them to seek year-round jobs in other fields, Fazio said.”
http://www.capitalpress.com/Nation_World/Nation/20150226/expert-immigration-reform-wont-fix-farm-labor-shortage
Not even the “experts” can find the real “answer”.
As I see it the illegals today feel “we are too good for those jobs we will just take a gringo’s job that pays better.”
Or they just go into the gang business, or grow dope in our forests and outlands.LikeLike

George,
Why work when the government will provide all the support you need to survive? People work when they are hungry. The blacks were raised in the welfare system from birth and they know how to game the system, the illegal get instruction on how the systems works from the Mexican government, plus they are quick learners. Why work if the government keeps you from going hungry?
You may recall he blowback from the $15.00 hour minimum wage, it resulted in people making to much money to stay on the government welfare. Workers preferred the welfare over the additional salary, which they had to WORK for. Recipients wanted their hours cut, so they could stay on the government dole.
We have created a welfare culture, not just the Democrats or the Republican, but politicians of all strips that needed to buy votes to winning the next election. We have created the cultural rot that will doom America. We are on the path to destruction that other great civilizations before us have tread to extinction. History is clear, cultural rot is the poison that destroyed all these great nations. We are next! The food rotting in the fields, when the unemployed refuse to work, is only a symptom pointing to our decline.LikeLike

Now Russ. Your going to receive the wrath of the pharaoh of the foothills for that post.
I posted the same facts, and he calls me a liar. I give him the facts from many a source, but that’s not good enough. Lets see if you fair any better.
Yet not one “fact” to support his claim 15 bucks an hour is boosting employment, and getting welfare cases off the roles.LikeLike

Whether or not it’s true….a circulating email written by a teacher says,” Do you know that we have adult students at the school where I teach who are
NOT U.S. citizens and who get the PELL Grant, which is a federal grant (no payback
required) plus other federal grants to go to school? ….I asked the CARIBE administration about their program and if you ARE a
U.S. citizen, you don’t qualify for their program. And all the while, I
am working a full day, my son-in-law works more than 60 hours a week, and
everyone in my family works and pays for our education.” Can you imagine how many other freebies there are for emigrants paid by taxpayers? But most people don’t realize how important farmers are. They feed everybody.LikeLike

Just got back and I saw theFrisch called me a pri** over on the other sandbox. He is obsessed with me and it looks like he might be a bit fluffy.
Soros stole the possessions of fellow Jews and sold them as he worked for the Nazi’s. Those are the facts. Maybe that gold from the poor unfortunates teeth and their diamond rings were used to start a fortune? Well, Steve Frisch appears to be supporting Soros so my guess is he is in equal business company with the thief.LikeLike

One thing that our dems here don’t get at all are the ongoing shifts in china. The boss came into power in 2012, he is a hardcore son of one of the original gangsters. He has been ruthlessly crushing dissent like the 1000 church crosses demolished. The big thing is he is using a ‘graft and corruption’ campaign to consolidate power by executing corrupt officials. The list of heads rolling is stunning. The vacant RE bubble is what is going to be the big bust when it exposes all the zombie loans propping up GDP. He is getting criticism from the commie official mouth piece newspaper and that is clear there is now a power struggle with the business owned by the army and other state interests. This is the real problem that could cause instability. Instability worse than the North Korea sortieing their subs. May you live in interesting times.

Like the fourth circle of hell, the fifth circle–presented in Inferno 7 and 8–contains two related groups of sinners. But whereas avarice and prodigality are two distinct sins based on the same principle (an immoderate attitude toward material wealth), wrath and sullenness are basically two forms of a single sin: anger that is expressed (wrath) and anger that is repressed (sullenness). This idea that anger takes various forms is common in ancient and medieval thought. Note how the two groups suffer different punishments appropriate to their type of anger–the wrathful ruthlessly attacking one another and the sullen stewing below the surface of the muddy swamp (Inf. 7.109-26)–even though they are all confined to Styx.
I don’t know Todd….the neighborhood might grow on you!

Hey, Walt, I am too scared to look, not! I haven’t bothered to follow Wall Street basically all this year. Nope, I got mine on autopilot. One never loses a penny until he sells. Like gold, it’s for hoarding and not to be shared. :). Like gold, stocks you pull out once in awhile and play with it, rub it in your hands, enjoy its magic glistening, and put it back in the mason jar. Heck, I had the physical stock passed down hanging on the wall in an apt for awhile. If a burglar ever broke in then, he would think it was just a kid thing hanging there among other Disney characters and pay it no mind. A closer examination reveals the old work of art on them ole stocks and the trained eye would see 100 shares of Disney stock bought at the par value of 2.5 cents each. Yep, I be foolishly old school. I don’t even look anymore. I got everything on autopilot.
Warren the Buff was asked if he had any regrets about his transactions. He shot back without missing a beat , “Yes. Every stock I ever sold.”
Every speck of gold I sold a long time ago, but kept a few Chinese artifacts and turn of the century bottles. My favorites are the Hires Root Bitters bottle (machine made but I like it) and the hand blown little Chinese medicine bottles of opium. cute.
Darn it Walt, now I think I am coming down with your gold fever. I want to play with nuggets and pieces by candlelight again.LikeLike

That’s right, we have a shortage of farm workers because blacks and Mexicans are lazy.LikeLike

Maybe we got a shortage of farm labor because we have a shortage of farms. The workers own the factory, right? Every year there is a story of some WA apple grower who had a storage, a coastal farm that can’t find workers to pick his strawberries and just like clockwork, you can bet your bottom dollar that some Asian reporter will be covering the Chinese New Year for the major media outlets. Montana does not seem to find any shortage of huckleberry pickers, though. Odd.
Hey, maybe the farm labors got retrained and are now trimmigrates. Beats sweating under the hot sun bucking bales. Maybe the pickers turned puckers and are on the county fair concert tour or doing the traveling Worldfest gig. Maybe they will only go where they are connected to the worldwide web. It does change the way we communicate. Maybe they went postal. Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?LikeLike

Those unemployed men of all races and cultures should be required to go work in the fields in exchange for that welfare check and all the other “programs” they get from the taxpayers. Streets need sweeping, homeless campers need help. This list is long.

Walt at a quarter til noon.
You got to be pulling my leg, right. Checked the source twice thinking it was something from The Onion or NC Scooper.
Retrieving the tires does bother me in the least. What really set my radar off was how we dispose of reef tires. Send them north to be burned in the hot stack to generate green electricity?? Geez, who came up that brilliant idea. If that is how the game is played, why not burn coal to create green energy, and a lot easier than pulling 30 tires at a time from the Ocean floor. Maybe send the tires to S. Africa where the rioters always run short of good old rubber tires after their “burning necktie” street parties.
What the heck are the dirt worshippers thinking. I can only conclude that the enviromentialist are better at fixing things on dry land and should leave the streams and creeks and oceans to those who have graduated from the 3rd grade. And what is this horse puckey about the shredded bits of tires are good mulch for the garden? Sure, simply certify tires shreds with the organic seal and I might cover the plants with tire ribbon mulch. Yeah, rigghhttt.
Anybody out there like the green idea of putting old tire mulch around your veggies? Yum, yum. Bet the mulch lasts longer than crushed nut shells, pine needles, or that smell ripe stuff in the compost bin. Always a silver lining.LikeLike
