[The old sandbox again filled more rapidly than I expected. Thought I'd start the new one off with a comment of my own which was motivated by a report from the radio as it announced the start of a new day. BTW, I am noticing the tendency of some commenters to get back into ad hominems. Attack the ideas, not the ideologues. gjr]

I find the jab concerning Todd’s marital history to be below the belt but we are otherwise in agreement.LikeLike

As long as Todd spend his time digging through my 20 year old trash and using it against me I will spotlight his history of irresponsibility.LikeLike

Bill 1:08 – Here is my take on the big picture, if you are interested..or not. I don’t think climate change alone will bring about human extinction, but when combined with pollution, deforestation, and population the long term prospects for humanity (and many other species that are already rapidly dying off) are dim indeed. And, like many people, I squarely put the blame on unbridled greed. If one looks at who/what is polluting, deforesting, and warming the planet it usually comes back to multinational corporations whose stock is mostly owned by already very wealthy people who seem more concerned with accumulating yet more bling than the welfare of the rest of humanity. This combined with the political power and control of information their vast sums of money now provide makes the probability of change difficult at best.
Are these people evil scumbags? No! As I have stated numerous times in the past, most of the current crop of wealthy activists are the product of an elitist self-indulgent self-entitled lifestyle propelled by inherited fortunes. According to shrinks, boarding schools and nannies are not the most nurturing and psychologically stable of backgrounds. These people aren’t like most of us who had to go out and make it on our own. They have little appreciation for anything because they have everything money can buy except perhaps happiness. In other words, I think many of these people are sick puppies who have no sensitivity to the rest of humanity outside their own circle of opulence, yet by virtue of their wealth have vast power over how the lives of the rest of us plays out and will play out in the future. These are not the people who should be in charge when in a crisis as their response will be “let them eat cake.” The only difference between now and 1776 is that royalty is now based on wealth rather than bloodline. The revolution never finished the job, it just changed the players.LikeLike

Todd, to many evangelical interpreters of the Bible (as well as strict Catholics), divorce is as big a sin as same sex relations. Since I’ve recently become born-again, your marital history strongly offends my religious beliefs.

WOW!! I must be one of the “wealthy ones”. I own stocks in multinational corporations.
That’s called retirement planning Joe,, I gave up on the hipster savings plan a LONG time ago. ( the five gallon water bottle one dumps pocket change into)
Thanks to the “G” man I’m not counting on one dime from all the years of paying into SSI.
It’s already been spent on pork, and now promised to illegals.
To the “over populists”,, you can always remove yourselves from the “problem”. Now the good question.. How many “over populists” have kids? ( Gee… Thanks Dad…)LikeLike

Hey, I think your history of commitment to the people you love in your life is relevant to your believability as a source of information and the value of your moral judgements about others behavior. . If anyone disagrees with that, then that’s fine.LikeLike
-
Steve Frisch, I think you think I care about your opinions on anything. I don’t. What is relevant here is you bloviating about morality, business acumen and many other things while being a total scofflaw with your employees tax money and the Passages Restaurant you drove out of business.
I actually get a ton of laughs about you hypocrites on most issues attacking me for a marriage. My goodness, does your mommy know you are on the internet? And what are you looking for? Hmmm.LikeLike

I wonder if the Sierra Business Council was on the favored list of non-profits? Anyone take the Sac Bee?
California officials arranged $28 million in payments to favored non-profits –California lawmakers and other state officials arranged for donors, many with business at the Capitol, to contribute $28 million to nonprofit organizations, local museums and other favored causes during the first half of the year, according to the most recent filings with the Fair Political Practices Commission. Caring about each others opinions? I think the litmus test for such attention and caring is whether or not you respond, no matter how much denial is in the response. As for me, I have yet to encounter a commenter on RR to whose opinion I was indifferent – strong disagreement, yes; indifferent, no. My only regret is that I don’t have the time to respond to all the opinions presented here, especially all the ones with which I disagree.

Thought I’d add this from a correspondent. Hillary seems to be successfully wrapped in the formidable Clinton Kevlar coat. But will Americans really vote for someone who in their heart of hearts gets filed under ‘Sleazebag’?
THINGS AMERICAN VOTERS SHOULD TRUST MORE THAN HILLARY CLINTON:
• Workout advice from Harry Reid
• Mexican tap water
• A loan to the Greek Government
• Vladamir Putin
• A Porcupine with a “pet me” sign
• A psycho pilot alone in the cockpit
• Bill Clinton
• Iran with nukes
• ISIS’ humanitarian decisions
• A fart when I have the stomach flue
• Nancy Pelosi’s word on pending legislation
• An elevator ride with Ray Rice
• Joe Biden making off-the-cuff remarks
• Taking pills offered by Bill Cosby
• A Palestinian on a motorcycle
• A Hillary Clinton war story
• Brian Williams news reports
• Gas station sushi
• Jimmy Carter
• Any pool player that is named after a city
• Any one that wants to shoot dice in an alley on an old Army blanket
• Eric Holder stating that he is “looking into” Lois Lerner and the IRS
• An angry OpossumLikeLike

Under the heading of EGOMANIACS WASTING LOTS OF TIME AND MONEY, the 17th hopeful has joined the race, a man name Jim Gilmore. He’s projected to start off Neck and Neck with George Pataki. Good going Jim!

Jim Webb and O’Malley are wasting their money on the Dem side. Webb’s campaign is as sad as that of Pataki or Gilmore, but they may make it to a TV debate at least!
Todd, what is my ilk? I am not a Democrat, have never been registered as one.LikeLike

That wasn’t what I was saying at all Todd…….any consideration about a Pataki, or Gilmore, or Webb 14 months out is like giving Pat Paulsens campaign a serious look.LikeLike

Dr Rebane, way back yesterday on July 29, on or about 3;15 pm:
Things American voters should trust more than Hillary Clinton is Nancy Pelosi”s word on pending legislation? Boy, Doc, that is a tough one. The chances of me trusting Hillary or Pelosi are slim and slimmer. Boy, that is a real nail biter to decide which of they two fine progressive pant suit wearers is more untrustworthy. Just today another article exposing a 2 month period of e-mails has not turned up after Hillary assured us all that all relative State Department correspondences have be turn over in full. Then another article today saying Hillary’s private server has details on 5 US spy agencies. Drip, drip, drip and she done it all by herself and to herself.
Oh me o my, who to trust more? Ok I will trust Nancy. Did I get it right, did I??

Mugabe the 90 year old commie cannibal has issued extradition papers for the dentist. In April I think, Mugabe had a birthday party and he ate a baby elephant and had a lion shot and stuffed. Where are all those protestors in front of the dentist’s office? Oh yeah, if they protested this in Mugabe’s Zimbabwe he would have them executed. Silly me.
