[Well, that was quite an episode in the last sandbox that I hope has run its course, or at least not let that thread of ad hominem exchanges leak out. I see that Sen Ted Cruz will throw his hat in the ring tomorrow, NATO's chief sees continued expansion from Putin that may get out of hand, and Bibi is keeping his powder dry re the farcical negotiations going on with Iran. And our own Bob Crabb is celebrating that Spring has sprung with a change in the business climate hereabouts. gjr]

Already covered up thread Brad….apparently if Americans are on board with a Kenyan national as chief executive a Canadian is no great stretch.LikeLike

I guess it takes a foreign born Rebub candidate to calm the Obama birthers.

Yeah…now the left can go nutz over the issue! You guys are due your “fair share” of outrage over this topic!LikeLike
-
“Ted Cruz was born in Canada!
….waiting for the outrage….”
If ‘natural born’ means ‘a US citizen at time of birth’ (an arguable point in these fringe cases), it all boils down to the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952. There’s plenty of websites that spell out the gory details.
Ann Dunham sounds like a piece of work, so at this point I’d say that the details of Obama’s early life could be just about anything.
Hopefully Cruz (and any other candidate) doesn’t have top secret school records and test scores. The ability of the powerful to scrub the backgrounds of people running for office would do the photo retouchers of the USSR proud.LikeLike
-
The Dems are not going to raise a fuss about Cruz for any reason. He is a dream come true for them and would be easy pickings in a general election.

Agreed Paul. The more entertainment value guys like this provide with their wacked out discussions at the debates, the better! Everyone will be trying to prove who can cut the most social benefits, at the same time kissing up to evangelicals to show who has the most cred as a True Christian.
Most of America will be entertained and cringing in equal parts.LikeLike

Just why in Hell should the American people elect another Progressive for President, or any other elected office? ( Reminder.. LIBS have had the butt handed to them in the last three)
The damage that the Left has done to this nation has been astronomical. From job decimation , record numbers on food stamps, record debt, illegals get free run of the place, now allowing Iran to have nukes. Yup,, great job in foreign affairs.
This administration has allowed more secrets to fall into enemy hands since Bill Clinton gave missile tech to China. ( Recall that stealth drone that got snagged?)
Furthermore,, Glen Beck sure called it when he predicted the burning of the Middle East.
He was so damned right.
I do believe the American people are done with LIBS for a LONG time to come.LikeLike
-
“Everyone will be trying to prove who can cut the most social benefits,…”
And have the citizens working at jobs! The very idea! An outrage!
So jon is all in with Obama since he has more Americans on the dole than ever. Strange idea of policy success.LikeLike
-
OK “jon”,, DO list what you feel your “entitled” to. ( That would be social benefits)
Is WORK a “four letter word”?LikeLike
-
Man, a little commentary about the Republican candidates predictable behavior in the debates provoked quite a firestorm of rants and topics far afield of what we were talking about.
Oh and Walt, I do believe Dems did pretty well in the 2012 General, then Repubs won 2014 midterms in Congress. What 3 in a row are you talking about?LikeLike

Hillary is in more trouble today. The left is going to lose big no matter which candidate the R’s put up.

Really? the last election LIBS had any traction on was when “O” got elected. It’s been down hill ever since. Remember? You clowns had a super majority. By the next election the Right will have it.
Taking a page from Paul’s playbook? ( Question dodging, and change the subject)
Well.. Since “Dirty” Harry Reid is waiving the white flag and cashing in his huge stack of chips, the next top lunatic may take his place.
Yes, many a LIB is throwing in the towel this next time around. ( They have seen the writing on the wall. Unlike jon)

What Cruz will be able to do is split the vote and likely come out on top in the race against Libertarian light candidate Rand Paul who is unlikely to maintain his fathers devoted base.

Rubio is a twerp that won’t wear well with repeated exposure. That clears the field for Bush and to a lesser extent Walker leaving TV preacher Mike Huckabee and fallen boy wonder Rick Santorum to fight over the Bible Thumper scraps. Christie is already down for the count because of his abrasive personality and questionable associates.
Lindsay Graham is an intriguing possibility but that’s about it.LikeLike

Walt, I guess my advice to stick to the topic at hand isn’t sinking in with you.
To correct your election statements, in 2012 the Dems WON more 1.5 MILLION more votes in House election and widened their Senate majority by 2 seats. Obama received 5 MILLION more votes than Mr. Romney. Maybe you can explain these facts vs. your proposition. Or do you really care that you just spout gibberish?LikeLike
-
Paul, agree with almost all of that. Wonder when conservatives are going to realize you cannot win by cowtowing 100% to the religious right. Rubio has flipped and flopped all over the board. Not ready for prime time..is being kind. Also, the Bushies are going to pound hard with money and elbows on young Marco, who they feel has betrayed his mentor, the Bush Boy Who Would Be President (ie Jeb). Would love to see a Hawkish Wing take flight in the primary and see if anyone has the honesty to propose a national draft.

Just where are you getting that BS from? Last time I checked, the LIBS have lost BOTH houses. Funny.. LIBS save a seat here and there, and since it wasn’t a clean sweep, that’s considered a victory.
Some hard numbers for jon…
2010 election
Senate
Seats contested 34 seats of Class III and 3 special elections
Net change Republican +6
House
Net change Republican +63
Governors
Seats contested 38
Net change Republican +6
2012 not much of a change. Just moved the deck chairs around.
“The Democrats had 21 seats up for election, plus two independents who caucused with the Democrats, while the Republicans had only ten seats up for election. The Democrats gained a net of two seats, leaving them with a total of 53 seats. The Republicans lost a net of two seats, ending with a total of 45 seats. The remaining two senators, both independents, caucused with the Democrats, leaving the majority party with a combined total of 55 seats.”
Then 2014 roles around. How did ya’ do?LikeLike

One more note for jon. jon, fails to add the fact that the 2012 election was tampered with.
The same election that the Tea Party was targeted.(well in advance of the election)
Recall the IRS/Tea Party scandal jon?
So toot your horn again. A “win” by any means necessary. If that hadn’t have happened the chances of “O” getting re elected would have been a LOT slimmer.LikeLike

Funny you don’t recall the 4 million Karl Rove emails that “disappeared” during a federal investigation of political wrongdoing.
“A lawyer for the Republican National Committee told congressional staff members yesterday that the RNC is missing at least four years’ worth of e-mail from White House senior adviser Karl Rove that is being sought as part of investigations into the Bush administration, according to the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. ”

Walt, did they ever recover Rove’s lost emails or not? If they didn’t wouldn’t you consider that “something to hide”?
One thing the Clintons have proven through the years is that they can sure take a punch. If Slick Willey were able to run for Pres in ’16 he would win in a walk. I’m sure glad I’m not going to vote for either party. My conscience is clear.LikeLike

What’s up “fish”? Why do you hide behind the name “fish” rather than writing your real name: David Larsen of Carmichael? What are you afraid of?
Posted by: fish | 20 March 2015 at 10:48 AM
One would think that with a resume in the tech industry as extensive as yours that you would have run into the concept of “blog handles” before. I may be incorrect in my assumption and that because you probably spent as much or more time fetching coffee for the CNet guys as you did for Herb Caen that that kept you away from exposure to the real world and you missed it.
You “outed” me…what over a year ago…..and yet here we are. I post as ‘fish’ because it’s what I’m used to at this point.
I find the above exchange funnier still given the number of times porcine has been busted posting under a fake name……Gloria Zane, Bruiser, Annie Fox……I think this threads “jon” is likely the “Flabby Conscience of the Sierras” as well.
There was also some concern that given your neighbors inclination to threaten lawsuits, waddle off to the sheriff to tell on people, or call Homeland Security because certain people don’t seem patriotic enough that using my real name might potentially cause some blowback at work. Given todays revelations about the DEA hooker scandal I needn’t have worried. In fact I’m beginning to think that I could sacrifice a newborn baby on my supervisors desk and as long as all the paperwork was in order there wouldn’t be any repercussions.LikeLike
-
Yes Fish, the same DEA that for years feasted on our domestic hippies on the
Ridge were using taxpayer dollars supplemented by cartel provided hookers to live it up in the countries of origin of illegal drugs. More reason to end the war on drugs now and layoff all the DEA cops. With any luck they might get work doing parking lot security for Walmart or become bouncers at McGee’s .LikeLike

Walt, I think you are missing the point about MJ. It is a buisness that is legal in more and more areas. Snoop Dogg is also getting in on the act.

Purest professional cowardice.
When you work for large multinationals (like me), even defense contractors (like me), the ability to commit job suicide is a real risk in this era. It would be easy to exude a phrase on a political website that would present ideal catnip for a zealous HR department, regardless of how provably true the opinion might be.
If you stick to center-left ideas, or are retired/self employed/chronically unemployed, the world is a different place. For the foreseeable future, everyone else should lay a little low. Identities are a matter for the writer and Bluffdale.LikeLike

Todd, do you think corporate polluters ought to be executed as well? They poison way more people than drug dealers.

Americans consumed far less sugar before FEDGOV promulgated the nonsensical food pyramid that said that the majority of the calories consumed should be carbohydrates.

Fish-I don’t know. Ask Todd. It’s his idea.
Executing drug dealers who hawked drugs to children was his idea. When you brought “sugar dealers and promoters” into it you made it yours as well.
Do you believe that we should go back a find those who “promoted” selling a dangerous white powder to children under the guise of a government health initiative (food pyramid) and execute them?
Simple question…..LikeLike

Runs on fat, both consumed and accumulated just fine. Obesity wasn’t nearly the epidemic it currently is prior to the endorsement of sugars/carbohydrates as the largest percentage of ones daily calorie intake.LikeLike

I suggest watching the film “Fed Up” about the influence of the sugar industry on the government. It is not kind to Michele Obama. Here is the trailer.

MY take on “epidemic” of “fat kids”, is the fact that they are glued to the boob tube, and no exercise. Thumbs on a PlayStation controller most of the day has plenty to do with it.
Now we can’t pry their digital life support system from their paws. (smart phone)
Seems some don’t even want to take responsibility for their own kids. They want government to do the work. If you don’t want them to eat or drink “X”,, don’t let’m. Instead, demand government “ban” or “outlaw” said product of food.
OK Adults,, what’s YOUR excuse for your extra tonnage? You are supposed to have the smarts to know what to eat.. But use the excuse of a “medical condition”.. That always works.LikeLike

Execution by the overdose of the drug the dealers are pushing on kids. Great idea. I actually would rather see it done by firing squad. That is how the Chinese kill theirs. The list of drugs is not that long. Heroin, cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, and similar ones. Paul Emery can shoot the “sugar pushers”
