[Am on travel and daily connectivity is iffy. Am very interested in hearing readers' take on what is the definitive yet plausible disclosure about Hillary's emails that would start other Dems coming out of the woodwork to throw their hats into the ring for 2016. So far everything looks like the email thing may become yesterday's newspaper if nothing more is revealed – which to me would be outrageous.]

BradC, 8:02 AM, that is too funny!
Yes thank goodness all this back and forth was in the cat box along with the tootsie rolls. Pelline is really odd and that is the jist of it all. No credibility. What a hoot!LikeLike

In case someone didn’t explore Bruce’s link, this is an excerpt from it. It helps me to find compassion.
January 2012 article in the Journal Live Science also cites the Hodsdon-Busseri study,
“There’s no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb…Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice.”
Indeed. Of course it begs the question why so many of the progressive lions choose to live in your Sierra Foothills “Whitetopia”! Plenty of nice places near Oakland Alameda coliseum for a couple of lefty/SJW stalwarts like Bruce and Greg to live……close to public transportation too!LikeLike

Maybe Bruce Levy can explain the “caste” system in India. Is that racism because some Indians are darker than others? Or simply economics? Maybe he could explain that to all us dolts here in the USA? I bet not.

This crude personal attack crosses the line. There’s more than enough hypocrisy and intellectual dishonestly in Jeffy’s work to keep his critics busy without getting down and dirty.
Now, please excuse me while I find the smelling salts and put some perfume on my hanky. I must lay down.LikeLike

Why won’t the people who comment on Todd Juvinall’s blog as “anonymous” identify themselves? I suspect it’s because they will be held accountable for their comments. And Todd happily complies with the anonymity. Po-dunk.

Windy etal on Pellines catbox don’t use their full names. He is simply a hypocrite. We have seen what he does to those who use their names and it is not pretty. He is just a huge bully and it matters not who he picks on. Little gals and helpless wimpass men mostly. Those that stand up tp his bullying get the treatment. He calls the Sheriff and their lawyers. What a guy! What a troll!

I’d like to thank Jeffie for posting as one of his hated RR pages, the one that has my analysis how how badly many Nevada County schools suck. The bad news continued into the last STAR/API data of 2013, but since CCSS were adopted we’ve been flying blind, and the State school board has recently voted not to generate a new Academic Performance Index until 2016, to give the Common Core machinations more time to appear to be working.
They won’t, at least in math. There’s fresh incontrovertable evidence that links California’s Whole Math meltdown of the ’90’s to our brand spanking new Common Core math. It is the same crap, different decade. Stay tuned.
I find it interesting that Jeff is still raw about how unfair that 2011 piece was, and that his wife also disagrees with it, but that they’d still rather have their child in a private school than in one of those great public schools in the Grass Valley/Nevada City areas.
For other readers, no, I’m not a conservative, have never been registered GOP, proudly never voted for Reagan (though I did respect many of the qualities he brought to office) nor have I ever supported a “tea party” group, nor have I ever attended a “tea party” rally. I don’t mind associating with Tea Party Conservatives for the purposes of discussion because they aren’t as relentlessly tribal as the Progressives who do a version of clasping hands against ears while saying “na na na na I can’t hear you” when someone disagrees.LikeLike

“All I asked Pelline for was his IQ.”
Todd, please stop it. While I do believe there is a thing called IQ that does, in effect, represent an overall intelligence of an individual, it’s as gauche to pester someone for what they think their IQ is as it is to pester them for their net worth or for when they stopped beating their wife.
UC Berkeley’s Rhetoric degree is a solid degree in how to argue, is not easy, and is favored by many with a pre-law focus. Jeff’s problem is not intelligence, it’s knowledge. He has the toolkit to argue but not to understand.LikeLike

-
Gregory, are you trying to take all my fun away? Jeeze, the only reason I persisted in asking the fella his IQ is he was relentlessly pestering me for mine. Anyway, he came here to the sandbox to get in a fight and we all agreed to do it. That is what this was created for anyway by the master.
Pelline is an easy target since he has a very high opinion of himself and as usual he tries to always get the last word. You are correct about the snootiness of Pelline since he does not apparently place his progeny into public schools yet tells everyone else to do so. His degree in rhetoric has enabled him to argue with just about every human and he obliges. Please don’t take my fun! LOL!LikeLike

Here’s a scoop… there may be two local grads at Harvard studying towards their PhD’s in Chemistry next year. While they both graduated from our very weak local high school district they did both attend excellent elementary schools, not the ones identified as below average by STAR/API rankings. One is at Harvard already, the other has been given an offer (it’s as much a job as it is a school you are attending), was there visiting (grad schools in the sciences generally pay for the travel) and can be expected to have been admitted to other good grad programs that they will also be checking out… It was a bit of unrelated serendipity that led them to the discovery of their common roots.
There are local schools that don’t suck, but it takes some research to discover which ones they are.LikeLike

Sorry I missed out on all the drama:
Gregory,
You missed the point. This page was posted to show yet another indiscretion: “This blog has hit a new low: Permitting the disclosure of where a child goes to school on the Internet. Jeff and I have gone to public schools our whole lives, and we support them fully, but we are also interested in the religious element of education. Please remove the reference to the preceding post for privacy reasons.

Jeff, I can’t remember how many times The Union disclosed where my kid went to school WITHOUT MY PERMISSION (not that anyone besides you minds that anyone knows where their kid attends school) you were just looking for something to get huffy about to evade the issue that was being discussed.
There’s also no reason to think it was Shannon Pelline who wrote those words, since (IIRC) you had just been tossed off the island for being, well, yourself and claiming to be an aggrieved Mom would be a convenient fiction. Not a problem for a documented liar like yourself.
It’s OK, Jeff… getting your kids out of some lousy elementary school is a good enough reason to go private. Personally, I’d have rather bought a BMW than pour money into Mount St. Mary’s for seven years, but at least my kid got a good start to high school. Does anyone know if MSM is using Common Core texts or do they remain a haven from Whole Math?LikeLike

“Of course it was Shannon who wrote those words.”
And we have the word of Jeff Pelline standing behind that claim. Let me guess… the same computer, the same IP address, just the Honor System at work? Did she also get a BA in Rhetoric from Cal? Her writing style in those posts seem remarkably similar to yours.
BTW, an obvious error… “Jeff and I have gone to public schools our whole lives”… Was Northwestern public in those days? Ever chow down at Skokie’s lamented Barnum and Bagels on Dumpster Drive? Great kosher food, near the NW campus.LikeLike

Nope. She wrote it. In fact, she’s standing here reading your words and just shaking her head. BTW, “Barnum and Bagels” is about as yesterday’s lettuce as “Frisco.” Your are one out of touch dude.LikeLike

“Frisco, that once-verboten term for the city by the bay, is making a comeback among the young and hip. Herb Caen is spinning at warp speed.”
… perhaps some green energy can be harnessed by tapping into Caen’s rotation?
From The Chronicle’s Pop Culture editor, no less:
“But the great columnist might have actually signaled the beginning of the Frisco thaw in 1995, when he noted the arrest of two loiterers in Berkeley who told police they were “from Frisco,” thus betraying their status as interlopers.
“Balderdash,” Caen wrote. “The toughest guys on the old S.F. waterfront, neither rubes nor tourists, called it Frisco, and no effete journalist would have tried to correct them.””
Turns out I was chatting with some younger Bay area friends yesterday and ‘Frisco came up. Their take was that it was mostly the newcomers (like some effete ex Journalists from SoCal and Chicago refugees that now live in Nevada County that we know, who spent some time trying to fit in Baghdad By the Bay) who are all over anyone who dares use the F word. In other words, newcomers posing as long time Friscoids.
For some very old news, my favorite Frisco reference is in the classic “M” by Fritz Lange, with Peter Lorre as the kindermorderer, one of the few movies to rate a 5 star 100% at Rotten Tomatoes. … at about 31:40, the German word “Frisco” translates to San Francisco.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM0w1dTNAH0
Perhaps the best recent article on Frisco is this one from 2014 in a rag with impeccable lefty credentials, which makes the comment, “Just as R. Crumb’s intentionally edgy caricatures of black people solely drew criticism from white liberals, the only people driven to complain about “Frisco” appear to be aging Caucasians.”

Walt, I expect Jeff can deduct the cost of the good stuff (a cork and everything!) as a business expense; his glossy advertiser even has Wine in the title, and I doubt Jeff would risk me or one of my minions going through his trash and finding a box of the cheap stuff from the Safeway or CVS. Horrors!
I’m the one drinking boxed wine tonight… a tasty old vine california zinfandel from 2012. On my second and probably last glass for the night.

SPD carries the brand.
It’s just wine, and for the life of me I can’t imagine why anyone would drink Chardonnay. Two of the better Sideways banters:
Miles: “I like all varietals. I just don’t generally like the way they manipulate chardonnay in California. Too much oak and secondary malolactic fermentation.”
Jack: “Huh?”
Jack: “If they want to drink Merlot, we’re drinking Merlot.”
Miles: “No, if anyone orders Merlot, I’m leaving. I am NOT drinking any fucking Merlot!”
Personally, if the women we were chasing looked like Virginia Madsen and Sandra Oh, I’m with Jack on this one.LikeLike

“where did I say anything about a roundabout?”
Don’t you read your own newsletters? In the bio on your blog you take proud ownership of CABPRO; therefore, you must then take proud ownership of the lunatic Agenda 21 claims your organization makes. As a member of Rotary and past Boy Scouts of America leader, I have been somewhat chagrined to learn that according to you Agenda 21 conspiracy clowns, my NGOs are a subversive threat to the USA. Your right of right kind both amuse and appall me (almost as much as the fringe left).LikeLike
-
Jpe Smith, review the newsletter of CABPRO and tell me where my name comes up. I have not been there for three years and have nothing to do with the running of it. So, you know what they say about assuming. Anyway, you have shown me and the readers the lack of research you do.
Since you are a self proclaimed “boy scout” you should no better than to make things up. Shame on you.LikeLike

Oh and Joe Smith, tell us, are you responsible for what is in the Rotary Newsletter? Now do you get it? Probably not. What a hoot!
