[As a heads up, the transcript of my KVMR commentary this week is entitled 'Those Left Behind' and will post around 6pm.  Its focus is Obama's budget and the wage/wealth gap, so if you want to hold your fire on that until you can post comments under a relevant topic.  Thanks. gjr]

We have all heard the Lefty rant that ” FOX news LIES!!!”,, yet nothing to back up that claim.
Well the proof is out there (all over the place) that NBC sure does. Just add the latest
“fib” to NBC’s list of “not really the way it happened”. From exploding pickup truck gas tanks, to doctored 911 tapes. Now Brian Williams eats crow.

And how about Hillary Clinton claiming to be shot at as she landed in Iraq! These libs are so bereft of heroism they have to steal it from others or lie that it happened.

Scott Pelley, CBS News, lost all my confidence when he claimed to be in Antarctica to demonstrate global warming, when he was 2,000 miles North of the South Pole on an island off the coast of Antarctica. The BBC pulled the same trick, using a Canadian research ship. Antarctica is not warming, regardless of the CBS and BBC lies.

I think the Hillary story was Bosnia. She claimed that she and Chelsea had to run for cover when exiting the plane. Video showed that to be a complete lie. She later claimed it was just a mistake. She has never been shot at – she just made it up. This was the woman that was fired by fellow Dems for ‘unethical behavior’. When lawyers fire one of their own for that, you can believe the reality is that she is just plain immoral.

Fox news successfully appealed whistle blowing charges against it by arguing that FCC policy against falsification was not a “law, rule, or regulation”. I’m not trusting of anyone’s reporting of “news”. They all lie, distort, and fabricate and Fox proved in court that it is legal to do so. Brian Williams’ lie was so blatant and outrageous that it might be excused as a fairy tale rather than a serious attempt to deceive. The fact that he still has a job speaks volumes.

You find one burp, yet NBC has a long history of made up stories.

It’s noble cause corruption… they think they know for a fact the underlying truth they believe in, and so the little white lies are just production shortcuts to get the truth out. I’d bet that Rather, to this day, believes there is documentation somewhere that says the same thing as the forgery he fell for. There may be, and somewhere, pigs may be flying.

Joe is just amazing – Williams stuck by that story for years. Of course he just made it up out of thin air and yes, he was trying to deceive.
Joe again repeats the line about Fox news being untruthful but has no examples. Funny that no one seems to have any.
Everyone should always filter everything they hear and read through a process of:
1 Common sense – is what is being reported even possible?
2 Double check with other sources.
3 Is there a contrary story or another side of the story with facts.
4 If a speech or article is quoted, try to read the full text.
5 Is audio or video available?
By following the above as much as possible I’ve found all sorts of stories to be either false or completely twisted from the truth.
As always – the biggest frauds are the left wing publications. Mainly by not reporting or even mentioning big news stories that are embarrassing to the Dems.
No wonder the Dems want more govt control over the internet. Too much of the wrong kind of info goes out to the people.

The article you reference, Walt, begins thus:
After his pet pig ate all of his marijuana, a furious Ohio man went on a drinking binge that resulted in his bust Saturday for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, police report.
It is unlikely that this person’s conduct would have been sufficiently disorderly to lead to the arrest he resisted if he had smoked marijuana rather than drinking alcohol. Similarly, I have never heard of anybody who got so stoned that he started a fight.
Alcohol is an ugly drug (Yes, it is a drug!) that often brings out the worst of its users and marijuana tends to mellow its users yet drinking is legal while mere possession of marijuana can lead to imprisonment. Nobody capable of rational thought should find this appropriate, right, or just.

There are plenty of examples, Scott. One that seems fair and doesn’t pick only on Fox News is the Tampa Bay Times’ “PunditFact”. Check it out here. Note that the TV tab leads to television’s “Big 5” outlets but the Radio tab only to conservative programs. Oh, that’s right! The liberals have proven that they cannot maintain radio audiences!

That’s no technicality, Joe. It’s inherent in free speech and freedom of the press. Besides, if it were illegal for a news outlet to lie the courts would be overrun with cases that result when just about anybody disagrees with reported stories.
The rights of a truly free society always include negative consequences. This is one reason why one must reside in a “home of the brave” in order to live in “the land of the free.” Another reason is that one must allow others’ freedom in order to be oneself free.

If getting “REAL upset when he doesn’t have his MJ” is reason to criminalize then alcohol should be criminalized, too, for there are many people with alcohol addiction issues who get REAL upset when they don’t have their drink!

Unfortunately, it is a technicality. There is no first amendment protection when broadcasting under FCC regulations. Try showing full frontal sex scene on NBC or saying fuck during FOX news at 6:00pm. Worse yet, allow a nipple slip at half time. When the internet becomes a utility under federal guidelines, I can only wonder when the censorship begins.

It is interesting that the feds have been considering detailed content control( review is likely in full effect now) before they grab the throat of internet freedom. Then failing to follow the party line will be hate speech. A pox on pc. Sounds like france. Given recent events and 0’s prayer breakfast talk it feels like france or iran are setting policy. We don’t want to bomb too much or give too many weapons, it will make things worse in Ukraine and the middle east. The current average of 7 air sorties a day right now is less than we used to have over football games on any sunday for decades before 0. It takes hundreds and hundreds of sustained sorties a day to actually degrade such a dispersed force. How about selling some A-10’s to our friends to engage in offensive tac air as it is meant to be?

Hell. Comcast still refuses to give The Blaze ( Glenn Beck’s baby) a slot.
LIBS love that kind of control. Anything to keep another Conservative news and programming network from reaching the masses, the better. No point in crying foul to the FCC,, that also LIB land.

You frequently decry liberals and their policies, Walt, but you so often express liberal opinions. Here is yet another example. You complain that Comcast will not carry The Blaze and that there is no point in bringing the issue to the FCC.
Why shouldn’t Comcast be free to decide which networks they carry? And if they are to not be allowed to make those decisions then who will? You seem to be suggesting that it should be the government that decides.
Is this, as are your opinions concerning drugs, another example of your duplicity?

Joe needs to read the articles he posts links to. The Wiki article contains only an accusation by 2 people that got huffy about Fox not letting them run their story. There is no proof presented of any kind that Fox ran misleading stories. Why not post a link to the actual story that the Fox affiliate ran and then post links to a reasoned rebuttal.
And I’m not concerned about the FCC trying to censor obscenity. Free speech is about the freedom to hold and express opinions about the govt and our leaders. I realize content control by the govt is a slippery slope, but the looming control of the internet by the feds is all I worry about.
The FCC controls objectionable images and language largely to the favor of the broadcast corps. Without their controls a large number of viewers would be ex-viewers and the ad revenues would decline.
Bottom line is that if you want to hate Monsanto, there are plenty of ways to get your story out there without govt or Fox interference.

There is a documentary video called “Outfoxed” by Brave New Films that documents numerous Fox news lies, distortions, exaggerations, and memos from Roger Ailes telling reporters what spin they will use on stories, and what stories Fox will and won’t cover. The information comes from former and current (disguised to protect their jobs) employees. The suggestion that Fox is clean and other networks are crooked liars is absurd. They are all conglomerate owned and produce “news” to the satisfaction of their owners; conservative white billionaires. Fox is just the worst of the bunch.

Well, everybody makes mistakes. Been thinking about Obama blowing kisses at Fidel and his brother Amos. If we we put out the welcome mat, do you really expect to be legally huffing on a fine Cuban cigar? Nope cause the good cigar makers saw what Communism has doing to them and their business and snuck out with the best seeds and expertise to the Dominican Republic. They use bat guano to fertilize. Not just any bat guano, but only guano from a specific bat that eats only a specific fruit. Fidel and his brother Amos are stuck with the floor sweeping from the socialist cigar plantations. They lost their craftsmen.
However, there is more Cuba has to offer than a few once primero cigars. Cuba brought us “One ton of metal, my Chevy is one ton of metal.” And the Cuban hombre wrote it in 1895. Amazing, ahead of his time. One Ton of Metal is a classic, like an old Chevy.

How could it be anything but made worse……..
President Obama’s plan marks a monumental shift toward government control of the Internet. It gives the FCC the power to micromanage virtually every aspect of how the Internet works,” Pai said. “The plan explicitly opens the door to billions of dollars in new taxes on broadband… These new taxes will mean higher prices for consumers and more hidden fees that they have to pay.”
and in keeping with President Bunny’s “Mostest Transparentest Administration” eveh!
In a statement released Friday, Pai lamented the fact that the 332-page plan, which he tweeted a picture of himself holding next to a picture of Obama, won’t be released to the public until after the commission votes on its implementation later this month.
