HeidiHallMs Heidi Hall is our community’s new progressive political wannabe.  She is also a newly assigned columnist for The Union and a KVMR commentator.   She is a well-spoken, handsome looking woman with plenty of education in fields that have ‘government job’ written all over them, and true to form that is her employment record (curriculum vitae here).

I have now read two of her columns, and frankly find them low grade ore.  In today’s (27jan15) Union she writes a piece that contains absolutely nothing but a rearranged list of staid leftwing talking points wrapped around the occasion of Obama’s SOTU.  Somewhat surprisingly, she found the speech an inspirational litany of just what the country needs, and would benefit from if only the obstructionist Republican Congress would come to its senses and abandon its “failing economic ideologies and work with the president to help the middle class.”  Yes, the lady did wordsmith it to echo the president’s talking points.

Her socialist economics are fairly simple in their statement, and, of course, not sustainable in practice (today Greece, Spain, and France come to mind).  Her “Economics 101 truism” is to somehow get money into the pockets of the middle class in one way or another, and then we’ll be off and running.  Actually, being a progressive, her knowledge of how to do that is pretty skimpy, but it’s worthy to point out her approach.

“The question is how to get more money to people like you and me, and who makes that happen.  Ideally, we earn it.  We are paid the true value of our labor.  Since this is no longer happening, we need government to act.”

Got that?  In her world the ‘true value of labor’ is not something that is known to the worker or the employer when they make their agreement to work together.  But not to worry, it is known to the government, which then needs “to act”, to enforce by the gun what it mandates from on high as the true value of labor.  Seriously, from this and her other established talking points, we see the socialist world that Ms Hall has to offer.  While more cleverly packaged, it is no better than what Gus Hall (no presumed relationship) prescribed for us fifty years ago.

With what she today promised for her future columns, there is little or nothing new that we can expect from her output in the coming editions of our local newspaper.  Any one of our RR readers could easily draft such partisan pabula.  As our new prominent voice of the Left, she should be capable of much more that we hope to see sooner than later.  (Hint: As an example, contend the January 2015 CBO analysis of Obamacare that shows the socialist health care program will be nothing like advertized in reducing deficits, lowering costs, and providing health insurance to more people.)

[28jan15 update]  Tonight we attended the NC Tea Party meeting where the program was an excellent presentation on Agenda21 by Ms Debbie Bacigalupi (announced here).  She presented a comprehensive review of the UN’s plan for achieving a “sustainable” world through “smart growth” that would actually shrink the planet’s human population from its current almost 7 billion to about 1 billion.  The means for this would be developed by the new global governance that will come into being through the co-operation of the UN member states.

RR has long covered Agenda21 to the jeers of some extremely ignorant local leftwingers who divide into two groups.  The first denying the existence of the UN plan, and the second denying that any of it is being implemented here in America.  Ms Bacigalupi’s presentation on the published volumes, resolutions, conferences, congressional sessions (including a wonderful C-SPAN video of a much younger Pelosi proposing House acceptance of the Agenda21 resolution under the Bush1 presidency), documents, formations of worldwide ICLEIs (q.v.), on and on down to our local government resolutions adopting Agenda21 objectives.

She also quoted chapter and verse on how and why the Agenda21 worldwide initiative should and would be kept from the public view.  The existence of grass roots leftwing useful idiots in vocal denial of all this demonstrates the success of this subterfuge.  RR readers have been kept apprised of these developments in posts found in the Agenda21 category accessed from the right column.

Why I’m posting this little update here is that in attendance tonight was Ms Heidi Hall, sitting in the back busily taking notes on her pad.  I was heartened by her attendance and eagerly look forward to her report on the proceedings and information presented on Agenda21.  When/if she does post a column or radio commentary on this, we will again see how the leftwing interprets for us the global initiative that is a basis for the promised fundamental transformation of America.

Why do handsome people make higher wages than homely people such as Moi according to a mydrid of documentation? It’s not fair to us Plain Janes. It’s not our fault. We were born that way. There oughta be a law. Oh well, I wish only the best for all the handsome people out there along the coasts of America The Beautiful. “George Rebane–whose blog is filled with misogynistic, extremist and bigoted commentary”………. Oh come on now. This blog has many other posters besides me whom are not misigynistic, extremist, and bigoted in the slightest. Dr. Rebane was been most patient with me, if not longsuffering. One should applaud Dr. Rebane for putting principles above personalities.
Oh, I shudder to think what Dr. Rebane tolerates on a daily basis and what Moi puts the poor soul through. I believe I might have, on occasion, tarnished his impeccable reputation. Except for the Sword thing with the magnum of Champillow. That I had nothing to do with, honest injun.
But, HH is just getting her legs under her and we should all wait and see if she strays off the reservation and comes up with a unique idea. That would be most refreshing. HH to her.

It’s good to see a local columnist who is in favor of helping the middle class. No doubt she would be interested in highly restricting immigration (both legal and illegal) in order to push up wages for both the working and professional classes. Supply and demand doncha know.

Driveby, Ms. Hall has laid out her positions in a clear and concise mannerr on the link provided in Dr. Rebanes post. Under issues, she has much to say about immigration, jobs, resources, conservation, protecting farmers, and unlike so many, she will reach across the aisle and work hard with Republicans. Sounds too good to be true. Truly amazing.
I was impressed to see she was a founding board member of Citizens Concerned about Mining, a topic close to Mr. Walt’s heart. . I am pretty sure her experience at the EPA, the Water Resoures Board, and other fine bureaucracies may have influenced her greatly and help formulate her great ideas, ranging from Campaign Finance Reform to the Dream Act to Federal jobs programs to this:
“Climate Change The greatest threat to our national security, public health and long-term economic growth is climate change. Our country has to take immediate steps to reduce its impact on our lives and land. In Congress, Heidi will support market-based solutions to reduce greenhouse emissions, tax benefits for companies that work to limit their emissions, and investing in a clean energy infrastructure, including new funding for alternative fuels and renewable power generation”. – See more at: http://heidihallforcongress.com/issues/conservation/#sthash.jTCKXDml.dpuf

Well George, one can only assume that Mr. Emery thought he could get in a dig about the costs of the wars based on my “spending other people’s money” comment directed at Ms. Hall. As I have been fairly vocal regarding my opposition to them, his comment not only missed the mark but demonstrates his ignorance regarding the positions of the various posters!

Well – she could do better by laying out specifics as to what Congress should enact to achieve her stated goal of: “how to get more money to people like you and me…”.
Just what in heck is ‘people like you and me?’ Hmmm – let’s see, she’s Euro descent and so am I! Could that be it? Maybe she has a couple of ears just as my wife and I do. Could that be it?
Yep – she could do better, but I wouldn’t bet any more than a toroid of dough floated in hot lard that she will.

How can Hall “lay out specifics” for anything in a republican controlled Congress? No idea any Democrat comes up with will get any traction with Boner and the boys calling the shots about what Congress is going to do or not do. So there is no real point in her laying out anything other than trying to appeal to the same middle class folk that Mitt is pandering to. It is those folks who decide elections, after all. Mitt should also lay out some specifics of his own since he is now the champion of the middle class and the climate. What a joke. The right just keeps getting funnier and funnier every day. Then there is Jeb.. if he gets elected will he change his name to George III? Or will it be William II?

Well, she is 74 or so I think. She definitely could ditch the haircut and the outfit in that picture though.
Honestly, I think that Ms. Hall is not a bad choice for a local political figure. In the long run, the Republicans are doomed unless they morph into Democrat lites, just due to demographic pressure if nothing else. A nation made up of worker bees for larger companies, the government, and the dole will share a common thinking that will drive political memes. The now-dead nation of small shopkeepers and farmers can be safely ignored.
In terms of the local area, you can pretty much bet that the local tech sector will continue to decline, and there’s really not much reason to move any kind of light industrial business here. Resource extraction will be verboten through some sort of regulation and/or public outrage. What’s left is a consortium of a fairly moribund tourist biz and the growth of a Bay Area retiree contingent. This last group is so interested in .gov pensions (not a few are retirees of same), Medicare/SS and the like, and any gifts of funds for things like hospitals, that they will tend to vote their own interests like any sane group of individuals.
What the area needs then is to be represented by someone who can keep the iron rice bowl filled up. A lifelong bureaucrat from the future majority party is probably just the ticket. Seriously. We’re at one of those stages in history where all that’s left is a system of spoils.

More people voted for LaMalfa in Shasta and Butte than voted for Hall and LaMalfa combined in Nevada County. That said, Nevada County was won by LaMalfa by only a three point margin…a lot closer than the rest of the counties.

Real libertarians like Rand Paul, who actually has some ideas (despite getting his facts wrong: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/28/rand-paul-tax-credit-fraud-_n_6563232.html), get shoved aside as being too radical for the corporatists agenda (http://www.politico.com/story/2015/01/koch-donors-marco-rubio-2016-114673.html). Hell, add property taxes, fire taxes, state local and federal and we middle class people don’t have a chance of keening our own money. Robin Hood needs a re-emergence in the 21st century. The only people running for office in America that say we middle class folks should be left alone are the Republicans and Libertarians. The democrats and liberals want to envelope us in their arms and never let us go.
Hall simply is ignorant of what the middle class is all about as are her fellow liberals. Thanks goodness we have a passel of people on the right that know the true needs and desires of the American people.

Unfortunately under the operative lexicon, “we (as a country) need to to something” is a direct translation for “we need government to act”. Ms. Halls language is more honest given the times even though I disagree with her position.

Memo to Ms Hall – As reported by the National Bureau of Economic Research, a “natural experiment” occurred recently when transfer payments were cut off for a certain class of unemployed. Leftwing embrace of Keynesian economics predicted dire consequences for both the economy and the nation’s unemployment rate. Exactly the opposite happened as predicted by the ‘Chicago school’ of economics founded by the likes of Mises, Hayek, Friedman, … (‘pay a man not to work, and he won’t’). Ms Hall’s ideology quietly rejects these results (as do the lamestream outlets) because they belong to the class of actions which diminish dependence on government. It would be most interesting and helpful for her to address this latest report in light of her worldview so that readers can compare and contrast the economics of socialism and capitalism.
