[Economic development season is rolling around again in Nevada County.  What directions should it take and how do we do it in this small mountain county off the beaten path?  Our ERC will kick things off this year with a confab on the topic this Thursday in the GV vets hall.  They do welcome ideas, so sally forth! – gjr]

JoeK 347pm – the hundreds of thousands of recent deaths of Muslims and non-Muslims at the hands of Muslims for the simple reason of incorrect faith (a cultural artifact) is testimony to your crock of shit. However, your hopeful characterization of progressives as co-defenders of an America we would all still recognize is noted.

George it appears JoeK will never understand what it means to be a American. He is truly a “citizen of the world” and as he says, patriotism is a terrible thing. What he and his fellow liberals fail to get is in the view of American conservatives, we want t protect his rights to be a jerk, not toss his sorry ass in jail or on to the gallows. He makes no difference in his simple brain between American patriots and a Jihadist terrorist. Since he use the time worn cliche’ of a “freedom fighter” his cognitive skills are truly exposed. A “freedom fighter blowing up himself and little babies is the same as the American Sniper apparently in his brain. My goodness, I am so ashamed that the education system has failed JoeK so substantiallyt.

JoeK, re you last line. Where to start, say with Bengazi or perhaps Iran? Interesting the muslim brotherhood meets with 0’s state dept in DC this week and comes out the next day calling for endless jihad in Egypt. It certainly shows that the most senior progressives fit the profile.

Don’t spend that $7.63 all in one place, Brad. The story also states the projected taxes are way short. Just because they have some funky tax law, doesn’t make it all that great.
Never mind the fact that even the Gov. said legalization was a BIG mistake.
Non of that tax money goes to fill the gap all the deadbeat dope smokers have created.

Maybe JoeK would like to go talk to them, and make all sorts of apologies, or how he respects their views. ( Like Hillary loves to push) Yup,, Go try and shake their Hand Joe,, Vegas odds say you draw back an empty sleeve. 75 to 1 says your the guest of honor for next beheading video. If “newcomers” are undesirable, what about carpet baggers like McClintock who hails from SoCal but represents a NorCal district? I don’t here the righties complaining about him.

I don’t hear McClintock constantly whining that “we’re purple”, and that “we need Than Franthisco valuths”. I’m sure that if he did he would be on the receiving end of the same kind of vitriol.

Also the Constitution has no requirement for a person to live in the district they represent. I recall a babe from Colorado running a couple of times against Wally Herger. I bet JoeK was all for that.

Walt, do you mean this Governor?
“By Valerie Richardson – The Washington Times – Thursday, October 9, 2014
DENVER — He still thinks Colorado voters made a mistake when they legalized marijuana two years ago, but Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper is not above taking the pot industry’s campaign money as he faces a tough re-election battle next month.
Allen St. Pierre, executive director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, was quick to point out the discrepancy, saying that Mr. Hickenlooper was “hypocritical” and behaving like “a politician in full election mode.”
“I just think it’s craven,” Mr. St. Pierre told The Washington Times. “Considering what he had told us in private in this fundraising effort, I was definitely surprised to see him [revert] back to this notion that the citizens of Colorado have done something untoward or illogical. And now that blowback is certainly happening.”
“This is why most politicians hold such low esteem in American politics: Because they say one thing publicly, and they do another thing privately,” Mr. St. Pierre said. “It’s entirely the case here.”

Walt, most of your comments get a big, “so, what?” from me.
Is this the first time you have heard that welfare recipients have tried to scam the system to buy smokes, booze, drugs, etc.?
Regarding the volcanos – no doubt all your excavations have been creating these disasters.

BradC- It is illegal to buy cigs and beer with ebt cards. It is currently legal for them to use ebt in pot shops in CO. Big diff. Why not go back to 2011-12 time frame look at the rosy picture that was painted in the push for legalization and how different that is from the reality. As the Sheriff noted on KNCO yesterday, the pot industry rep got in front of the national conference in CO and plain lied his ass off about the real net costs of legalization. He was so caught up in his propaganda that a member of the audience finally stood up and pointed out they had that same day been given the official numbers from the state of CO and they were a disaster financially and totally blew up the selective focus of the pot industry. There is not one monolithic pot industry in CO but rather 3, recreational business, medical dispensaries and the black market. The med and recreation stores are not on the same page at all. The recreation stores want to hammer the med pot industry in the pursuit of profit and against the interests of patients. Of course the mmj stores are going to donate to a GOV. who is not a big fan of recreational pot.
