Oh my….manboobs is on a rant about poor Mr. Crabb again…. evidently jeffy thinks that there are plotters, wreckers and agents everywhere…..all out to foil his peaceful life in the sierra foothills….. miffed that he has been cast in a less than flattering light yet again.
Evidently R.L. is some sort of “agent” from an organization referred to in hushed tones as “The Union” that has been dispatched to torment him because is wasn’t born in your hallowed hills and is little more than a flatlander infidel.
I too have been outed as a paid agent of the Koch Brothers (by both the spherical Former editor himself during a Chardonnay and self pity fueled Sunday night rant and rabblerousing local canine JoKe) those shadowiest of fascistic industrialists trying to recreate early 1900’s Austro-Hungary right here in “Murica”. I can only assume that George Rebane is some sort of sleeper double agent from behind the former Iron Curtain who was activated and instructed to form a “Hard Right” cadre to both monitor and suppress all the good works the a former editor might perform for the simple hill people while simultaneously deflecting attention from his nefarious plans by any curious locals. Greg Goodknight is a covert NSA agent who uses his computer acumen to sow dissent among the local gentry and their affiliated sock puppets! He was the agent who finally discovered the connection between jeffy and the mysterious “Annie Fox”…..ironically the connection did indeed turn out to be jeffys wrist after all! Poor Greg was scarred for life after witnessing things utterly unspeakable! Todd very clearly is fronting Military Intelligence! Ben Emery seems to do reconnaissance work for the Peace Corps….I assume he is here merely as an observer and wasn’t sent to annoy jeffy intentionally….he does on occasion but only inadvertantly. Frisch… it’s obvious isn’t it….he is a control agent working on behalf of “The Junior League” using innocent highway median beautification projects to distribute non-subversive literature and plant non listening devices. Paul Emery is of course the spy who didn’t know enough to come in when it got cold!
Carefully jeffy…..remember….you need to keep your friends close and…..wait…..never mind!
And don’t get me started about our evil plot to spoil this years bumper chili fries crop!
Alas…….perhaps I’ve said too much!
He’s right you know…you just can’t make this stuff up!

OK,, I’m hiking my leg over in this corner of the sand box and mark my territory.
To pick up where I left off,, first I need to bury the steaming pile of crap Ben left
in the other SB. ( He sure knows how to smell up the joint.)
Those with money hire those who need it. Those who have a good idea to better themselves barrow money they don’t have from those who do, in the hopes of making a better life for themselves, and hire other people to make that dream come true. Welcome to capitalism.
The Constitution (have you read it yet?) guarantees equal opportunity. (did you get that far into it?) Do point out where it guarantees equal outcome.( hint… It don’t.)
It was the risk taking rich guys who built this country. More than many lost all in the process. There as no government guy to give them a hanky and a check to make their losses magically come back.( unlike today if they have friends in D.C.)
America has been the land of risk and reward.( That’s real capitalism)
Government didn’t get or fund the Wright Brothers to build the first airplanes. Yes, Those guys built that. ( they had a dream and a desire.) Government didn’t put them in the bicycle business. But later one pushed regulations on them and all to follow.
Sam Colt? Smith and Wesson? What grants or subsidies did the “G” man give them?
In today’s world,,, look what government overstep did. State governments ( Colorado, Virginia and N.Y.) regulated gun business right out of the states. Those guys pulled up stakes and went to other states.
Yup, someone with money just gave ME a job. Not the bum on the corner with a cardboard sign.

Someone made the glib comment that Zinn would write about “poor” Germans. Once again talking out of ones arse seems to be par for the course.
Howard Zinn was a bomber in WWII and it was experiences that gave him a different perspective on war. He experienced the evils of war, bombing campaigns to settle past grudges with allies, and having to test out new weaponry for future combat missions. Those who “lost” in WWII and every conflict are the innocent people who lost their lives for acts or deeds of people much higher in the power circles and economic classes.
Excerpts from a review of his last book “The Bomb”
“Delivered to the publisher one month before his death, The Bomb falls into the latter category. In it, Zinn puts two essays side by side, one entitled “Hiroshima, breaking the silence”, the other “The bombing of Royan”. As a young man eager to be demobbed, Zinn recalls celebrating the dropping of the atomic bomb; it meant the end of a war he did not wish to return to. He had taken part in the bombing of the French town of Royan just three months earlier. The essays revisit that unthinking celebration and desire to follow orders of those months in 1945. Using historical evidence, it also argues that neither mission was necessary and asks what prompted military action that would transcended military logic and moral sensibilities.
Like Zinn, I have changed my mind over the need and glory of war. Leaving Quaker school at 17, I wanted to be a fighter pilot. But travelling the world on my bicycle, I came to the same realisation as Zinn – that there is no “them”, but only a global “us”. I will gladly say that changing one’s mind is not and should not be seen as a sign of weakness, as it so often is for politicians, but of creative reflection.”
“In these particular cases – especially the destruction of Royan, which was actually inhabited by allies rather than enemies, Zinn argues that motives of military pride, experimentation of new technology (napalm was used for the first time at Royan) and the desire for revenge outweighed the facts that none of it was strategically necessary – the port was a sideshow which posed no threat to the rapid advance of the allies towards Berlin in June 1945.”
“That said, the very “evils” that the war was meant to defeat was implicit in the actions of the allies. All of the allied powers had records of colonisation and all had previously invaded other countries for their own good, as they then complained of Germany or Japan doing. All defended their empires against independence movements in the years following 1945. All ultimately carried out military action that killed thousands and thousands of civilians. Blanket bombing in Dresden was described by Churchill as a “heavy raid”. At the time, racism in the US underpinned the social system as much as it fuelled the rhetoric to go to war against Japan and Germany. In this sense too, less happily, “they” were actually just like “us”. Yet, the rhetoric of war relies on “them” being seen as lesser.
The Bomb is not an easy book to read in places, given the accounts of the suffering inflicted by the bombings. It is one that will infuriate many…”

BB, Tanks a rock for the chuckles. You are on a roll. Global, global, global. Children are being abandoned in Rio, becoming orphans to fend for themselves at the landfills. People are begging for two grains of rice in Calcutta. Women are having their lips cut off for wearing lipstick in the former Persian Empire, known today as Iran. Murders of black people by black people in Chicago and New Orleans is a national scandal with no end in sight. Let us know how your fight against global injustice is going when you return from those places. After all, they are all your constituents, each and every one of them. Glad your fighting for them was produced fruit and you have relieved some of their suffering. Not all, but some as you have got down and dirty in the stink and fought for them, for us, for global justice. Thank you! Thank you and a big thanks for sharing. Tanks, tanks a rocket.

Ben, why not post something about a book you have read and have a cogent, original and relevant thought to share, rather than wholesale quotes from an obscure (authored by one Ben Pink Dandilion) review The Guardian printed a few years ago?
Like Zinn, I have changed my mind over the need and glory of war. Leaving Quaker school at 17, I wanted to be a fighter pilot. But travelling the world on my bicycle, I came to the same realisation as Zinn – that there is no “them”, but only a global “us”.
Looks like Zinn and the reviewer were both reality challenged at a young age; “glory of war”? I thought most outgrew that by puberty. I’m also a bit puzzled by the only global “us”, claim; I would think a Pole witnessing the blitzkrieg in ’39 would have a different view. In any case, worldwide, there are about as many Quakers as there are registered Libertarians in the US and I can’t say I’ve ever been infuriated by one.
Now, when do you go away as promised?

It’s “us or them” since the dawn of time. Progressiveness and peacnickville will never change that. Even Dear old Russia is back on the war path will continental domination in mind. N Korea would flood over the boarder if our troops were not there.
Nope,, war is a nasty deal, and a necessary evil. Good thing you live in the U.S. with all it’s protections. Only here can you be a pacifist without becoming a slave or mass grave filler.

Apparently Ben just now got around to reading about WWII instead of watching John Wayne war movies. The only folks that ‘glorify’ war are the same ones that glorify gore, murder, incest, adulterous behavior and all sorts of anti-social activities.
Some of us ‘glorify’ the bravery of those who put their lives on the line to protect the safety of our nation.
Putin is now marching his army into a neighboring sovereign nation.
He apparently thinks war does have a purpose. Funny how folks don’t all think the same.

Both sides put out their joint statement, the U.S. issuing it via the White House and China releasing it through the official Xinhua News Agency. But whereas one side gave it a high gloss, the other seemed to be trying to bury it under the rug. The top story on the website affiliated with the Communist Party flagship paper The People’s Daily was about Xi and Obama meeting the press – but the article made no reference to the climate agreement. Other stories on the homepage touched on the climate statement but tended to relegate it to the latter half of the article, and omitted the American-style superlatives. The popular Beijing News, a state-run paper known for gently testing the editorial boundaries, also didn’t mention the climate deal in its Nov. 12 cover story on the APEC meeting that brought Obama to China. It focused instead on the meeting’s anti-corruption accord and progress on plans for a pan-Asian free trade zone spearheaded by China.
Here is one reason why:
Beijing is under fire domestically for its unsuccessful efforts to curb local air pollution, noting that people were furious that authorities managed to clear the air for the visiting APEC dignitaries but can’t do it on a daily basis for their own citizens. ” There may be worries that focusing on climate change rather than air pollution doesn’t meet the public’s main concerns,” Seligsohn said via email.

Gregory at 11:10 – Now, now. That train is needed ‘infrastructure’.
Think how much faster we could have had powered flight if the Wright Bros had been able to zoom to the dunes of Kitty Hawk from Ohio in a Bullet Train. Course they would have been waiting a coupla’ of decades to get the thing built. Once the California Pork Barrel Special is chugging along, you’ll be able to get from Fresno to Bakersfield in 10 minutes less than if you were so stupid as to take your car that you needed to have to get to Fresno in the first place. And the cost will be greater, but it won’t matter, since you’ll be spending a lot more in Bakersfield for a taxi ride or car rental, since the train station in Bakersfield wasn’t where you wanted to go in the first place. And DiFi’s husband needs the millions anyway. And anyone who’s against Brown’s folly is just jealous cause they didn’t get the Lionel train they wanted for Christmas when they were a kid.

During that same time period the stock market rose 190% under Reagan and 220% under Obama. Under Reagan the deficit rose.. under Obama the deficit shrunk. In January 1981 the Civilian Labor Participation Rate was 63.9% in climbed steadily throughout both Reagans terms. Unemployment peaked at about 10% a year after he took office and then fell steadily to 5.4% at the end of his second term. Sugar Frosted Barry O’s inherited an unemployment rate resulting from the banking/real estate debacle of 7.8% that very quickly rose to 10% (This was largely out of his control.) and has been falling slowly and ended at just under 6% according to the last available FRED numbers. His unemployment rate has benefitted significantly from a steadily dropping labor force participation rate. You see after you’ve been out of the work for a while Uncle Barry figures that you really prefer it that way and kicks you off the labor force rolls to make the numbers look better!
Reagan also didn’t have 8 to 17 trillion of freshly minted money desperately chasing return in the only place money can go when bond yields turn to shit….Wall Street!
I had no idea you were such a booster for the 1% JoKe!

What percentage of the American population is now on food stamps now vs Reagan? How much did the natl debt go up with Obama vs Reagan? What was the GINI index under Reagan vs now?

Thanks guys for setting Joe straight. Let me add a little. More people are on the dole than ever before. ( that would be food stamps Joe) Now do a little homework on what’s called the “U” index. ( U-4,U-6,8 etc.) It’s the numbers used to calculate just how to play the unemployment percentage. In realville unemployment is well over 13%. Not the “look at what I did” feel good sucker numbers.
You didn’t get the tag JoKe for nutt’n. BTW how do you like being branded “stupid” by your own kind? ( Mr. Obummercare, MIT, idiot genius.)
Funny thing about the academia book worms. What looks good on paper, NEVER works in the real world. Just because someone wrote a book, and it “says so” somewhere in it. doesn’t make it so.
Kind of like what today’s Progressive has done. Nice job of revisionism trying to brand Republicans as the slave owners of the South, and the party of the KKK.

Of course Frisch failed to pay the employee taxes on his restaurant to the tune of $250,000 or so and the place was shuttered and liened by every level of government. Today re-education centers have been installed in America by our cadres of politically correct socialists, centers to which ideologically errant citizens, corporate employees, public service workers, etc are routinely remanded to attend in order to have their brains made more ‘sensitive’ to recognize and follow today’s newly emergent party line. Pray where is there an equivalent establishment or program that has ever been set up by anyone hewing to any form of conservative/libertarian values or ideology?
We need not ask where you and yours generate such questions out of whole cloth. Saul Alinsky, the ideological mentor of your messiah, laid it all down in his Rules for Radicals where a paramount dictum is to always volubly accuse the other of your own methods and misdeeds.

The left…your side…. generally harries the opposition unto death! Can’t let any lingering “wrongthink” remain and put reactionary notions in the heads of the less enlightened.
I don’t know how you concluded that Ben, “putting a human face on his political beliefs” left anyone convinced. Ben was wished well when he announced his winter departure with most eagerly awaiting the next engagement.

Thanks for pointing that out, Todd. I made a point to treat Ben’s writing based on its own lack of merit irrespective of his health status; does that mean I’m not in what Michael Anderson (aka Clientworks, a tiny computer services company in Nevada City) called the “circle of stupid” (i.e. this blog) in that post?
Gruber is inner circle elite, PhD, MIT prof; Frisch, Koyote, Anderson, Pelline and especially Ben E. are merely useful idiot voter wannabee elites on the fringe.
