As we have seen, Jeffy has taken the same steps as The Bee. Comment by invitation ONLY.
LIB rags loath open commenting. One by one they have either ended comments altogether, or
have “moderated” to the point of “why bother?”.
It was local LIBS that were the demise of comments in our own (now)LIB rag.
They hounded Ackerman endlessly about it. The second Lefy’s lost the battle, their “deletion crew” went to work. ( three flags kicked in the auto delete)
If The Union folds, you can thanks our local LIBS for that. They are now getting the “content” they whined for.

Give the consumer what he/she wants. Customers are reliable employment. I remember Fat Asshole (before he was shown the door at the Union with Ackerman’s footprint on his backside just under Bubba’s Wide Load sign)…..I remember well Jeffie writing about the national decline in newspaper readership, but local papers that cover little specks on the map are in the “sweet spot”. Jeffie for once did not get up in his high highchair and pound his spoon or throw his food. First time for everything. El Fattis Maximus was quite pleased with itself for discovering this common knowledge no brainer plain as the nose on one’s face. The sweet spot. Small town tiny papers that publish the police blotter and print local letters to the editor. Life was grand and Bubba took his bib and wiped his face in glee, full of confidence.
Unfortunately it’s twinkling eyes turned to grimace when the sound of champagne corks popping filled the air when The Fat One was sent home that day.
Sure as day follows night, the Impaired One is back in his high chair pounding his spoon and throwing his food. Quite unladylike like.
The problem is simple and all see it clearly except the one in the highchair having another temper tantrum. The said problem is no matter where Little Big Man goes, he takes Jeffie with him.

    From a correspondent –
Does anyone remember Detective Melvin Santiago? He was a Jersey City police officer who was shot to death on July 13th. Santiago was white. His killer, Lawrence Campbell, was black. Does anyone recall Obama appearing before national television and calling for justice for Officer Santiagos family? Does anyone recall Eric Holder rushing to Jersey City to see that justice was done?
    http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/news/2014/07/13/rookie-police-officer-melvin-santiago-allegedly-killed-by-man-who-wanted-to/
    http://online.wsj.com/articles/jersey-city-officer-mourned-at-funeral-1405735316
How about Officer Jeffrey Westerfield. He was a Gary, Indiana police officer who was shot to death last month on July 6th. Westerfield was white. His killer, Carl LeEllis Blount, Jr. was black. Where was Obama? Where was Holder?
    http://abc7chicago.com/news/man-charged-in-gary-cop-jeffrey-westerfield-killing/216557/
Or Officer Perry Renn? He was an Indianapolis, Indiana police officer who was shot to death just last month on July 5th, the day before Officer Westerfield was killed. Officer Renn was white. His killer, Major Davis, was black. I don’t recall any mention by Obama about the untimely death of Officer Renn. And, I doubt that Eric Holder rushed to Indianapolis to make sure justice was done. Or, maybe I just missed it.
    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/death-penalty-sought-for-accused-cop-killer-in-indianapolis/
Vermillion Parish Deputy Sheriff Allen Bares was gunned down by two men just last June 23rd in Louisiana. Deputy Bares was white. His two killers, Quintlan Richard and Baylon Taylor, were black. Was Obama outraged? Did Eric Holder rush to Louisiana to make sure that the family of Deputy Bares found justice?
Detective Charles Dinwiddie of the Killeen (Texas) Police Department was murdered by Marvin Lewis Guy, a black male. Officer Dinwiddie was white. This happened on May 11th, just over two months ago. I don’t even recall seeing anything about that on the news. Certainly, the white citizens in Killeen didn’t take to the streets to loot and burn businesses. Again, I don’t recall any mention by Obama or Holder.
Then, there is Officer Kevin Jordan of the Griffin, Georgia Police Department. He was gunned down just two months ago on May 31st. Officer Jordan was black. His killer, Michael Bowman, was white. This was a white man murdering a black police officer. Where was Jesse Jackson? Where was “The Reverend” Al Sharpton? Was there looting and burning on the streets of Griffin, Georgia? No. In fact, I don’t recall hearing about this one in the news, as well. Why? You can draw your own conclusions.
Over the past 60 days, there have been five reported deaths of police officers by gunshot in the US. Of those, four were white officers who were murdered by black men. Blacks complain that white officers treat black men more aggressively on the street. You can draw your own conclusions on that one, as well.

I’m afraid the problem is that you don’t understand their definition of racism has been out in the open for years.
The first time I heard it was listening to Rep. Shirley Chisolm addressing a Democratic National Convention, might have been 1980. To be truly racist, one has to be discriminating against another due to race AND be doing so from a position of power; therefore, whites can be racist but blacks can’t. That apparently even holds true if the black person is a President or an Attorney General.

A sheriff deputy back in Minn. and shot with his own weapon.( the first ever in that dept.)
They caught the bastard in short order, and the excuse he gave was ” He let me get too close, and I took his gun.” He cheated the executioner when he hung himself.
This was a LONG time ago. ( late 30’s) But we have never forgot.

If it weren’t for this blog, Todd Juvinall, George Rebane, Russ Steele (the voice of the “good old boys”) and their commenters would not have much to write about. Commenters don’t sign their name either. My voting record stands on its own merit: A “decline to state” voter since 18 who has voted for “D”s and “R”s over the years. I am not endorsing anyone in the GV Council race, including Jim Firth, but the hard right is scared to death of him — in this case, republishing his press release. His campaign platform is pro-business, pro-growth, pro-“shop local” and pro-tolerance. He is a local consumer too.

We talk about plenty that doesn’t involve you jeffy. Since you self publish “Scoopys Sierra Foothills Pennysaver and Gasping Indignance Journal – A Periodical Devoted to Things That jeffy Doesn’t Like!”, you are a topic of discussion. I only comment on him when he is outrages. Other than that he is a bore. Regarding Firth. No one is “afraid” of him, we just don’t want the people voting to fall for his phony crapola platforms and planks. I remember when Izzy Martin was able to do that in District Four and she lasted one term when the people got wind of her BS stands on property rights. Robin Sutherland beat her easily. But in Izzy’s case, no one but a dew of us let the people try to know and the “fawning” press just let her fibs become reality. Never again will we let that happen if we can stop their lies.

Any literate person who compares RR to scooplets realizes that the involvement of the FUE in these comment threads is literally cheap entertainment, and most certainly the least significant topic brought up here. However, I do think that RR readers are over exercising themselves on too easy of a buffoon. As to who benefits most from these exchanges there is no doubt. One only needs to tally FUE’s posts about RR and the number of visits he and his make here, compared to what has been posted on RR about his attempts at relevant blogging (recent sandbox repartees notwithstanding). As many RR readers have pointed out, he is desperate for traffic, and RR readers are kind enough to provide him that service. The local hard-right political blogs largely have become a “mudpit” of anonymous comments, thanks to a lack of moderation. But hardly a nanosecond goes by without mentioning this blog — often laced with insults and personal attacks. One anonymous fellow named “fish” — with much too much time on his hands — constantly “cuts and pastes” the comments from here over there.
I “cut and paste” from your site so issues you post publicly can be discussed without censorship. I have recommended that in order for you to feel safer in your sandbox that you make your blog private with credentials issued to your three followers (Your various sock puppets shouldn’t need any special access) so as to ensure that decorum suitable to your high standards can be maintained.
Now, our host has hinted that the transferring of comments from your site to his that lead to the unpleasantness that upsets you so should be curtailed and following this comment I will honor his request. I think that even those who know you well are beginning to pity your absolute inability to defend either your gossip masquerading as political positions or your laughable public persona. You think she just walked onto the range and asked to try it out without her parents consent? Maybe she should have tried firing a .22 rifle, or a pellet gun first – not a submachine gun. I wonder how her parent or guardian feels about their decision? I wonder how the kid feels? She is not going to forget that anytime soon. But, I guess that was the point – to create a memorable occasion at the full-auto gun range.

Regarding the Uzi accident, the instructor erred and paid the price. Very sad, he’s dead and the girl (not to mention everyone else there) has a memory that will haunt her forever.
Ranges that feature National Firearms Act (NFA) automatic weapons abound in both Nevada and Arizona which are NFA friendly states. These are tourist traps, popular with tourists both domestic and international. One busy indoor range in Las Vegas includes a T-shirt for you to shoot up as a memento in their package.
I expect that entire industry is revamping their operating guidelines, as are their insurers.

As a former military and current civilian range safety officer, after viewing the video I conclude that the ‘instructor’ supervising the child about to fire an Uzi submachine gun on full auto for the first time was somewhere between inexperienced and incompetent.
All such weapons have a strong tendency to ‘climb’ or ‘walk’ (the unbalanced recoil moment moves the muzzle usually up and to the left) when fired in full auto. A strong, experienced adult can control the weapon for the short bursts for it was designed. But even then a first firing is recommended to be within a muzzle frame or the gun tethered by a line so it cannot swing uncontrollably. The little girl was totally freaked out by what happened when she ‘pulled’ instead of lightly squeezing the trigger. Her clenched finger froze and the over-powering Uzi did the rest.
The instructor, as a minimum should have had his hand on top of the receiver forward of the ejector port to control its direction and ascent. He paid with his life for his oversight, and the little girl now lives with a lifelong trauma.

“Dumb shit like this, and the idiots who think they are showing off their 2nd amendment rights by waltzing around malls with automatic weapons are the reason people want to change the constitution.”
Bob, not a single automatic Uzi or M16 has ever been sold in California, and I can’t remember ANYONE ever waltzing around malls with automatic weapons except for cops. In states that allow NFA weapons, I believe it is still true that none of them have been found to have been used criminally.
This was a sad case of parents wishing to buy their child a legal machine gun experience (why, I’ve not a clue unless it’s because they are from a state with onerous firearms laws that made the experience a forbidden fruit they wanted to taste) and a range selling the experience was willing to take their money.
Asian tourists love the machine gun ranges… it may be the only experience they ever have actually touching a gun.
I’ve no doubt existing civil law and the willingness of insurers to cover the situation will make all the adjustments needed.

There is a gun shop/range in Reno where said “experience” can be had.
It’s an indoor range as well. I stopped in there a while back to see what they had.
Yup, an Uzi was there. So was a Thomson Chicago fountain pen. And others too numerous to mention.
Maybe Brad and Boardman should pay them a visit and see how their safety program is rife with flaws, then come back and give his opinion of possible gross negligence.
This was the instructor’s screw-up. There was probably many things he could have done differently. And every one of us has “been there”. There is something in everyone’s past that seemed just fine at the time, until everything went South. Or ” done it a hundred times” at 101, it blew up in your face. ( I’m no exception)
Hind sight is 20/20. Don’t blame the kid, or the parents and the 2ND had nothing to do with it.
BTW, Now that pot is legal in Colorado, how many deaths of kids and others have been racked up in direct relation? That’s just as big a tragedy, if not more.
That pot was just as “legal” as that gun. Someone “supervised” the overdose toking, or way too much ganja in the brownie mix.

Moved up to a .22 when I was about 13. Handing an UZI to a nine-year old is asking for disaster, even under the best of circumstances. And I’ve seen plenty of photos of morons brandishing weapons in public places, just not California. That range has since increased the age requirement to 12 with a height and weight minimum. Expect every tourist range to do the same.
It’s a non issue. A sad chapter that will now be a civil suit between the estate of the deceased and the business. Probably also a civil suit between the girl’s parents and the business for the distress she underwent. The insurer is ruing the day they got into that line of business.

People with guns will save a lot of people’s lives in our country and others. When we look to rescue the 300 girls we don’t send troops with hula hoops. There will always be people that do stupid things and harm themselves and others. Robin Williams used his belt. The dead instructor was at fault and ended up the same way. The death had nothing to do with a legitimate law abiding person owning a gun. To say otherwise is quite a stretch.

RL, I agree with you that you don’t hand a grownups tools to a kid. But as we have seen grownups in Africa kidnapped little boys and handed them AK-47’s and put them into the “conflict diamond” wars and others. Same in Asia. The little girl should never have been given an Uzi. But in many households across America kids are taught as I was to respect the tools we use. I was taught that the “skilsaw” could cut my fingers off is used improperly and I know men who in fact lost their digits because they did not pay attention.
Regarding a “chainsaw”. They are used by millions of people and I bet there are many kids being taight to use them. As far as the appropriate, I have no idea what that should be.

Not a single documented image of “people waltzing around malls with machine guns”, Bob. That was in the mind of the cartoonist.
The open carry people were making a point… it’s legal and not in itself unsafe. I remember living in Tucson for a time in the late ’70’s and being shocked (as a California kid) seeing open carry of holstered sidearms in South Tucson, where it was legal. A shock but I got over it.
Those aren’t machine guns; virtually all AK-pattern rifles in the US fire once per trigger pull, certainly all AK’s that have ever been sold to civilians in California and all AK’s that have been sold since new machine guns were banned during the Clinton years.
Back to the tragedy at the range… I was watching the MacNeil and Lehrer-less News Hour last night and in a related segment, the owner of The Gun Store, an indoor range and gun store in Las Vegas that I’ve been to, mentioned his business has been providing the machine gun demos for 40 years without incident.
No, we weren’t there for machine guns, the person I was with was thinking of buying a gun but didn’t that day. I’ve never bothered myself, it doesn’t cost more than a jolly nice organic meal on a street in Nevada City but it also doesn’t cost less. I got better things to do with $100.

As I’ve pointed out before, the concept of overthrowing the USA armed forces is ludicrous. You can take every member of the NRA and the Sportmans’ Club, let them take up whatever positions they want at the Sportmans’ Club, tell them exactly when and where an A10 Warthog will appear, (in effect, let them yell, “PULL!), for pass after pass, and they will all be dead, and the Warthog will still be flying.
As for the argument that the military will never fire on American citizens, it seems that LE has no problems doing so. Add in armed mini drones and it becomes a cake/death walk for those who have and control them.
As for hunting survivalists skills, that’s another crock. There are 37,000,000 Californians. There are only 1,500,000 deer. They will be hunted to extinction within a year. The only way to make a survival scenario possible, would be to kill off as many of your fellow Californians as you can, as quick as you can. Better to work to preserve civilization as we know it, and work to improve it.

…and work to improve it he will indeed! Yes Dougie work to improve it by concocting ever more insidious Rube Goldbergesque Antarctic (among others) punishment schemes like you are so fond of doing over at your site!

Fish, what is sad is that almost the same exact thing happened back in 2008 in Westfield, Mass. to an 8-year-old boy with an out-of-control Uzi. Not much changed since then, I guess.
Walt, of course, is cool with 8-year-olds, and I suppose, 6-year-olds, and maybe even 4-year-olds playing with Uzis because “sh*t happens!
Don’t want that nanny state telling parents they are endangering their children letting them play with automatic weapons while supervised by “weekend warrior” range instructors.
What’s more American than Bullets and Burgers? Sounds like heaven for an 8-year-old.
