Through extreme cynicism (read evil) or utter stupidity, the liberal candidates for mayor in NYC are again attacking the city’s ‘Stop, Question, Frisk’ policy which has been the centerpiece of policing that has dramatically reduced crime rates in that large metropolis. Last year SQF was material in dropping crime another 30% from the previous year. And now the leftwing candidates are all taking turns lambasting SQF as being a bad policy based on “racial profiling”.

The best that can be said about the lot of these politicians is that each of them is profoundly innumerate; the alternative is that they know better and are just being slime bags playing to voter ignorance in order to get elected. For openers, over 70% of NYC perpetrators are black, and only 53% of those stopped are black. And of those stopped, fewer than 9% are frisked.

Blacks make up about one in four or 25% of the city’s population, and constitute several times that percentage in perpetrating crimes and being victims of it by their ‘own hands’. Yet when the carefully trained NYC police practice SQF in a manner that **under represents** the proportion of blacks stopped, the slime bags take advantage of their ignorant constituencies and shout ‘racial profiling’.

The nearby graphic illustrates the situation that confronts the cop on the beat every time he starts a new watch. The blue rectangle denotes the NYC population, the black rectangle is the black population, the tan rectangle is the city’s non-black population. And the red rectangle represents the distribution of crime perpetrators. So the question in the very successful application of SQF is ‘What in hell is a cop supposed to do when he suspects that a person has committed a crime or is in the process of about to commit one?’

The situation about who the criminals are is so lopsided when it comes to race, that even under-applying SQF yields good results in the sense of drastically lowering the city’s crime rate, and in the process saving numerous lives annually. Those lives mean nothing to the sleaze bags who are willing to sacrifice anything to get elected. If they succeed in pulling back SQF, then the lives lost will be countable and directly attributable to their demagoguery. But we can bet the ranch that not one politically correct lamestream outlet will report on that. Why? Because it’s the wrong agenda; it doesn’t count if blacks kill blacks, just like it doesn’t count when Muslim fathers honor kill their daughters.

In times like these, it would be prudent to note that some swarthy yutes wear white tee shirts; the tactic of all wearing the same thing when they go out “wilding”, such as
Polar Bear Hunting, Knock-out Kinging, and
Bash Mobbing, is the latest rage among thugs. The purpose, of course, like that of wearing a hoodie, is to make it harder to identify them.
As an aside, if an area isn’t safe, people won’t go there to shop, dine or create a business. It doesn’t have to be criminal activity so egregious that it makes the man-bites-dog news. Word gets around locally and people stay home.
For an example scenario: a movie theater’s attendance lowers because young folk grab purses from some elderly folk in more
than one incident. The police can’t or won’t deal with it. Then the theater goes out of business.
If people cannot count on the rule of law, they restrict their activities, commerce suffers, productivity goes down, and everyone ends up poorer. In current America, crime causes fiscal and mental poverty more than poverty causes crime.

re BenE’s 557pm – The cited argument of both ‘racism’ and ‘error rate’ are fallacious according to NYC police commissioner Ray Kelly. On the face of it, since SQF is a preventative measure, there is no evidence of how many crimes such “erroneous” stops have prevented. The only evidence of that is the dramatically reduced crime rate. You have to be really stupid not to understand that a crime in preparation is almost always stopped without arrest when the law makes its timely presence felt.
All liberal outlets propagandize it as ‘Stop & Frisk’, leaving out the ‘Question’ part at which stage the overwhelming number of stops terminate. According to police statistics only 9% of stops proceed past questioning to the frisk stage.
However, what will be clear is the increased body count in NYC after progressives achieve their objective of ending “racism”. Innumeracy is a dreadful disability in the social sphere. And demagoguery is even worse.

Learn some history and start thinking of the implications of having segregated schools until the 1950’s? Those literacy tests you guys are so found of who do you think wrote those tests in the past? Segregated restaurants, hotels, drinking fountains, bathrooms, and so on. The entire history of the United States of America and the American Colonies was built on institutionalized racism. From first slave ships coming ashore in Jamestown in 1619 to Frederick Douglass to Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin.

Frederick Douglass, once a slave, became the brilliant and powerful leader of the anti-slavery movement. In 1852, he was asked to speak in celebration of the Fourth of July:

George,
The point of my comments above is to show oppression, suppression, and discrimination is the tradition of the US towards the black population or should I say non white male segment of the population.
It boils down to many on the right like the use the terms liberty and freedom but are really talking about security and stability. To be fair many on the left don’t really understand this concept either, privilege does funny things to people’s ability to observe what is taking place. Security and stability for yourselves and to hell with everybody else. A person can be secure but not free. Stop and Frisk removes fellow human beings liberties and freedoms for the illusion of security for some and discrimination for others.
I have been charged of white guilt many times by other commenters on RR. Nothing can be further from the truth. I am tireless advocate for justice, equality, liberty, and freedom for all people. None of these cannot exist without the other. Being free and having liberty while your brothers and sisters next door are oppressed, suppressed, and discriminated is not liberty or freedom it is a responsibility. I don’t have guilt of being a white male but instead feel the responsibility of being dealt a winning hand of sharing the gender and skin tone of those who have controlled the levers of power in our government from its inception.

BenE 755am – I have never charged you with “white guilt”, it is too broad and serves no purpose. The only ‘sin’ I can charge you with is well-meaning naivete as witnessed by your brandishing the mantle of a “tireless advocate for justice, equality, liberty, and freedom for all people.” I instinctively fear those such as you, for I have seen what they can do and have done in this world. It is appropriate that you sign off with the high-toned Lazarus quote – the one which lands unchallenged on the ear, and then quickly disintegrates upon reflection.

Brother Ben. Glad you are the defender of liberty and justice for all. I see Stop and Frisk as a tool used to fight crime. A nuts and bolts wrench in the toolbox to get the bad guys.
Police use bulletin boards with maps on them. When a series of, say, burglaries occur in a distinct area in a short amount of time, then the cops will will give that area more needed attention. Short of putting a constable on patrol on every street corner 24/7, target areas of crime is the answer.
In some areas 5% of the criminals do 50% of the crime for an entire city. Throw out domestic violence and petty theft like stealing I-Pods and shoplifting, the 5% do even a larger percentage of crime.
If the bad guys reside in a crime ridden area, that is where you go to get them off the streets. This is to protect the community at large.
I understand your opposition to S&F. I, too, have some Constitution issues with S&F if now instituted correctly. Crime robs more than just stuff. Crime robs people of peace of mind, happiness, and their feeling of well being. Even the most ardent liberal of the 60’s who lives in an area now overrun with criminals feels some relief when they see a cop wrestle some punk to the ground. “At least the police are trying to do something” is a often quoted response.
So, if S&F is a racist ploy by the privileged white ruling class, then so be it. Cops frequent crime hotbeds to get the bad guys behind bars. If found unconstitutional, so be it as well.
Reminds me of my younger days when I would fly student standby. One would go to the airport and wait until the plane loaded to see if you should get on due to unsold seats. Thus the “standby”. If you were a student and you could get on , the price was cheap, cheap, cheap. Worked for the airline as well as the young starving students who were notoriously short on greenbacks. Then one day someone sued claiming it was not fair that a student (who had no guarantee for a seat) could fly for cheaper than someone else. Thus student standby went the way of Hughes Airline, the yellow banana of the skies.
Its not fair. Yes, its not fair that a minority of bad folks commit such a large percentage of the crimes against the community. Guess that is why they are called criminals. Criminals knows no skin color. But, you have Frederick Douglass to Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin on your side so I guess no more S&F. At least the cops were trying to do something.

Gentil Ben, U.S. slavery was the Tiger’s Tail, a long-toothed lethargic legacy that grew into a fearful monster as technology, science and empathy advanced.
Fear of armed revolt came from from the likes of Nat Turner and John Brown.
Segregation was practiced between the classes as well as the slaves due to fear of disease, thus the two drinking fountains, et al.
Segregation between said several stations began centuries ago in the pre-germ theory days, thus terms like Malaria (bad air).
Historic people weren’t vile; they were merely ignorant and fearful relative to our time’s elevated state.

Wonder how long it will be until someone finds the term “White House” offensive. Perhaps Presidential Palace would be more accurate and appease the sensibilities of those who have suffered under the white ruling class. Or are still suffering from white guilt.
Wait a minute. Michelle said that the White House was like a prison. Maybe we should change the name “White House” to “National Residential Correctional Facility”. Nay, not enough words.
