[This is the transcript of my regular KVMR commentary broadcast on 21 December 2012.]
You’ve all heard enough about the Newtown killings, and, no doubt, you will hear a lot more. I decided to give you a break on the topic, and take one myself since the debate about the response to that tragedy has been hot and heavy on the web and on my blog. In any case, today’s diatribe has obvious connections, should anyone want to tie things together.
I want to explore the notion that 2013 will be the year of the progressive pandemic. In various forms this topic is being explored around the world after Americans gave a second term to their openly socialist president, and the country seems hell bent on a course of fiscal disaster that will remove the United States as a world hegemon.
In ‘2013: The Year America Dies?’ British journalist Paul Joseph Watson asks, “Will 2013 be remembered by future historians as the year that the United States of America, to all intents and purposes, died as a Republic and was finally seized by authoritarian globalists who have already openly usurped governments all across Europe?”
There are a lot of indicators baked into that question which answer it in the affirmative. I’ll go through a few of them so you can form your own opinion as to how much they support Watson’s and my outlook. It is easy to see that Europe is already in the bag for globalism, with leaders of major banks and investment houses in the EU countries all moving governments and economies in a direction to make the world safe for international finance.
The US is long past the point where it can make a credible case for repaying its debts and unfunded entitlement obligations, let alone stopping the trillion dollar annual deficits in federal spending that continue to balloon this debt. The progressives’ control of government, corporations, and academe will guarantee that there will be no change in the plan to spend and tax ourselves to renewed prosperity. That promise is keeping America mollified and hopeful as we quietly shut down our Republic.
Global strategist and former Jimmy Carter national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski recently delivered a cautionary lament in a speech to fellow globalists. According to Watson, Brzezinski warned fellow elitists that a worldwide “resistance” movement to “external control” driven by “populist activism” is threatening to derail the move towards a new world order.
Our federal government has already taken extraordinary measures to detect, contain, and eliminate such populist activism, no matter where it may raise its stubborn head. The new and improved National Defense Authorization Act lays out the details of how government will squash all resistance. Related documents like the new Army field manual FM 3-39.40 Internment and Resettlement Operations gives specific instruction for the detainment and re-education of dissidents.
To abet this pandemic, accelerating technology has quietly made privacy a thing of the past. The ability for the state to capture, record, analyze, and store our whereabouts, actions, and utterances 24/7 is rapidly becoming complete with the aid of cell phones already in our pockets, microphones and cameras in the streets and public transport vehicles, and drones overhead. Your smart home will be smart enough to tell the feds everything they want to know about you.
Fostered by the Newtown massacre of innocents, President Obama promised that “under the radar” gun control initiatives will get a full airing in 2013. No armed population has ever been compliant to their betters in government, and therefore America must be disarmed for all intents and purposes, even if it takes UN mandates and troops to complete the job.
In the meantime, the same broad path to what now appears as unadorned communism is called for by economist Nancy Folbre writing (here) in the New York Times. Her message to America is that “All Americans willing and able to work have a right to paid employment. If the private sector can’t generate sufficient jobs, the public sector should provide them.” You heard it correctly, full employment in America is a right, just like it was in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Our government now promises to tax and shrink the private sector to any extent required to guarantee that right.
Ben Franklin warned us that “Passion governs. And she never governs wisely.”
My name is Rebane, and I expand on this and related themes on georgerebane.com where the linked transcript of this commentary is posted, and where such issues are debated extensively. However these views are not necessarily shared by KVMR. Thank you for listening.
[23dec12 update] A reader pointed me to a recent interview with polymath George Gilder. The interview was comprehensive in the sense that it covered a lot of the topics RR concerns itself with. I was again pleasantly made aware that Gilder and I share wordviews about the US and what's happening around the world. The differences between us are minor, and I will point them out should any reader care to raise a specific tenet or idea in a comment. (This will, of course, come as a complete surprise to our lightly read leftwingers who continue characterize my views here as the lonely howls of a conservative lost in a rightwing wilderness.) The interview was conducted by The Daily Bell in conjunction with Gilder's forthcoming book Knowledge and Power. It is definitely worth a read.
