According to the most recent Gallup poll on governance for America, conducted August 1–20, 2025, 66% of Democrats express a positive (favorable) view of socialism. This figure represents a continuation of a trend observed in Gallup surveys since around 2016, during which a majority of Democrats have held more positive views of socialism than of capitalism.

The beauty of something like ‘socialism’ is that selling it is incredibly well-tuned to motte and bailey arguments.
Everyone is in favor of poor disabled children getting basic healthcare from the government, right? Oopsie, we just slammed in a million rules for living and guaranteed outcomes for all.
In the end, no matter how good the intentions, people simply see an opportunity to scrabble to the top of what is basically the biggest corporation of all. The road of bones from useless county gubmint girl-job to running a camp at Kolyma is a fairly proven route. Failing some super high-functioning culture, a broken thing in the age of unlimited immigration, that always seems to be the end game.

Huh. Never heard of him. A quick gander at his history on the ever-correct Wikipedia site shows yet another crazy German social scientist weaving some sort of construct that makes my head hurt. At least his Hitler Youth ties kind of throw a stick in the spoke of Kevin MacDonald’s thinking that the Frankfurt School was essentially an exercise in Jewish in-group attempts to collapse the West.
The 20th C. was an odd time, with Marxism making it to a lot of corners of the tenured class of humanity. Perhaps removal from the problems of real life leads to the takeover of symbols in (even) sciences, from string theory to Stephen Gould.
The fact that it all, at least temporarily, lead to George Floyd’s gold coffin, Drag Queen Story Hour, post-menopausal women waving signs for wetfoot-dryfoot abortion laws in other states, large company DEI, xenophilia, and the ascendancy of men-in-dresses, is still something of a mystery to me.
Maybe the point is just to give a person something to laugh at in their dotage.

He was responding to your post about Trump’s low poll numbers to remind you that Trump will be POTUS until his term is up and he will continue to lead as he wishes without regard to what any poll says.

Judging from the local area, the ‘economy’ consists of county gubmint administrative girl-jobs, Chinesium gift stores, grossly overpriced and underqualitied restaurants, and cover band concert promotion.
That, and medical care for the elderly.
Until people do useful things for a living, I can’t say that any President will have much effect.
Of course, the fun bit will come from the inevitable AI recession and winter. Everyone will watch their stock market savings, based on artificial money, take a hit. No doubt it will all turn into something eventually, but the collapse will have to happen in the meantime I think. One funny angle will be watching the gigantic hardware build-out turn obsolete.

Keir Starmer is the right man for the job I think. A dead-man walking personification of the UK (and Republic of Ireland for that matter…funny how they spent 1000 years bitching about the English and then were happy mass-importing the Third World without a peep).
Hopefully there is someone in State Department or DoW planning thinking about removing the UK’s nuclear capability and evacuating the really good antiquities before the whole thing slides into the abyss.
