[Well, it all finally hit the fan yesterday.  The video of Khamenei’s compound being destroyed by multiple missile impacts is quite terrific and impressive.  That was, of course, the first target destroyed, else every raghead at the planning meeting would have high-tailed it out of there.  Now we have to hope that we do put some surreptitious boots on the ground and help the Iranians get organized to take care of regime change.  Rallying around Prince Reza Pahlavi is not a bad starting point for forming a temporary government before elections can be held.  gjr]

“The wealthy are not leaving. They are changing their permanent resident status to avoid taxes.”

Well from the perspective of the California State Legislature this is a distinction without difference.

“Tax the Rich. They’re Not Going Anywhere”

    https://time.com/7377597/tax-the-rich-millionaires-wont-flee/

Maybe do some research – talk to real estate agents in Florida. That Times article was riddled with false parallels, weasel words, and it ends with a question that clearly has nothing to do with the very wealthiest:

“The last time you moved to a new state or country, the decision was probably quite complex, not a mechanistic reaction to one specific event.”

I imagine enough is being divested that California residency will no longer be an issue for tax purposes. Why are you so wet eyed about this?

Now we know why Iran had to happen…

“So far we’ve heard that although we killed the whole Iranian regime, this was not a regime change war. And although we obliterated their nuclear program, we had to do this because of their nuclear program. And although Iran was not planning any attacks on the US, they also might have been, depending on who you ask. And although we are not fighting this war to free the Iranian people, they are now free, or might be, depending on who seizes power, and we have no idea who that will be.”

We all know which First Lady and which President should be called to testify…welcome to the Trump/Epstein Oligarchy…

“Conservative commentator Bill O’Reilly said Monday he was “appalled” that the House Oversight Committee deposed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as part of an ongoing probe into disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.

“Hillary Clinton never should have been called. And that makes a farce of our federal government to call the woman…whether you like her or not, she was secretary of state, First Lady…to put her in a position to try to embarrass her over nothing,” O’Reilly told NewsNation’s Leland Vittert on “On Balance.”

One more time … The wealthy may be moving their ‘primary’ residence but that doesn’t mean they physically moved all their belongings and sold their property in the state they previously had designated as their primary residence. They are wealthy enough to maintain multiple residences in multiple states.

RH – not only do they take their taxable wealth with them (leaving less than the $1B taxable at 5% in California), they also take their contribution to the registered voter rolls to their new primary residence. This is reflected in California’s declining representation in Congress. Have no idea why you think that Dems should feel smug about the butt-stupid asset tax they are trying to push through. But it does bolster the fundamental truth that Dems know zero about economics and tax policy.

    Noem was not lying:

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin: “Sae Joon Park’s extensive criminal history includes convictions for possessing, manufacturing, or selling a dangerous weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, assault, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

“In 2010 an immigration judge issued him an order of removal. Park’s appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals that same month was dismissed by the Board in April 2011. With no legal basis to remain in the U.S. and a final order of removal, Park was allowed to self-deport to Korea.”

    Further:

“Park said for a long time, citizenship was not a priority because he did not fully grasp the consequences of remaining a noncitizen. Although the U.S. offers expedited naturalization for those who serve honorably in the U.S. military for at least one year, or a single day during wartime, Park was discharged before he had served 12 months and the invasion of Panama was not classified as a period of hostility.”

Mr Park had years to get this cleared up and did nothing. He ended up leaving on his own.

Are all y’all referring to something like this,

The Net Investment Income Tax (NIIT) is a 3.8% IRS surtax on investment income (interest, dividends, capital gains, rentals) for individuals, estates, and trusts with Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) over certain thresholds—$200,000 (single/head of household) or $250,000 (married filing jointly). It targets high earners to fund Medicare, applied to the lesser of net investment income or the amount exceeding the thresholds.

As to the type of tax we’re talking about that is driving the super wealthy folks out of California – no – that’s not it.

The well-to-do already pay far more than they are morally obliged to in this nation and the idea that the current socialist financial disaster we face can be solved by loading more financial obligations on them is just idiotic. You can take all of their wealth and it won’t do any good beyond buying more votes for politicians from morons like you.

“Ted Lieu CATCHES Kash Patel’s Signature on the Order That CLOSED the Epstein Investigation

In the ritualized arena of congressional oversight, the most consequential moments often revolve around a single sheet of paper. During a tense exchange on Capitol Hill, Representative Ted Lieu zeroed in on what he described as a bureaucratic anomaly buried deep inside the FBI’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein financial network investigation. For nearly three years, the case had moved through the slow machinery of federal inquiry—subpoenas, forensic accounting, and inter-agency coordination designed to trace the funding architecture surrounding Epstein’s operations. Then, according to the document Lieu displayed during the hearing, the investigation ended abruptly. The authorization carried a single signature at the bottom: Kash Patel. The timing raised eyebrows across the committee room. The case closure reportedly occurred just eleven weeks after Patel assumed office, and the standard procedural markers—no final investigative summary, no public explanation entered into the oversight record—appeared absent. In Washington’s opaque world of national-security bureaucracy, those gaps are rarely ignored. And by holding the page up to the cameras, Lieu effectively turned an internal administrative action into a public political question.”
