It seems that Typepad has been on its last legs for at least a couple of years.  They have shown very little competence and professionalism in how they have been operating their blog service.  I received an email from them yesterday announcing that their service would end on 30 September 2025.  With my son-in-law I’m doing all I can to preserve the 18 years of RR content and transfer it over to WordPress.  Regardless of how my future blogging turns out, I am grateful for the years that readers have continued to visit and comment on RR, and I thank you all for your participation and support of the open policy for expressing our opinions and observations that we have been able to enjoy.  As things progress, I will keep you apprised of what is happening.

    looks doable, found online
Your Typepad content needs to be exported before the service officially shuts down on September 30, 2025. The process involves exporting your blog content into a Movable Type Import Format file, which can then be used to import your content into a new blogging platform.
Step 1: Export your content from Typepad
Log in to your Typepad account.
    Navigate to Blogs > Settings > Import/Export.
Scroll down to the “Export” section and click the Export button.
Typepad will generate an export file. Once complete, a download link will appear.
Download the .txt export file to your computer. Right-click or control-click the link and choose “Save Link As”.
Note: This export file contains your blog posts, pages, and comments but does not include your uploaded images or videos. For a backup of your files, you may need to open a support ticket with Typepad or manually download them from your File Manager.
Step 2: Prepare for your new platform
The next steps depend on where you want to move your content. Most blogging platforms, like WordPress and Blogger, have built-in import tools for Movable Type format.
    Porting to WordPress
Set up your WordPress site: Get a new domain and web hosting, then install WordPress.
Access the importer: In your new WordPress dashboard, go to Tools > Import.
Choose the Movable Type and Typepad option: Click “Install Now” if prompted to install the importer plugin, then run the importer.
Upload the file: Upload the .txt export file you downloaded from Typepad.
Import attachments: If your new platform’s importer does not automatically grab your media files, you may need a third-party plugin to import your images and other media.
Set up redirects: To preserve your search engine ranking, you will need to set up 301 redirects from your old Typepad URLs to your new WordPress URLs.
    Other platforms (Blogger, etc.)
For platforms that do not directly accept the Movable Type format, you may need to use a converter tool.
Export your Typepad file as instructed above.
Use a converter to turn the .txt file into a format the new platform supports. For example, some users have had success converting to Blogger’s XML format.
Import the converted file into your new blog.
After the import, you may need to manually update image links and fix any formatting issues.
