[Latest news on new home building.  It seems that today more and more houses are built without separate dining rooms.  This allows the house to be smaller and cheaper.  But eliminating the dining room also indicates a culture shift in the young buyers.  Fewer people today require a room in which the entire entourage of guests can gather for a meal and conversation that involves everyone.  Such conversations require the participants’ shared knowledge bases, real time critical thinking, and the art of expressing oneself in a civil and sensitive manner that does not put people off and feeds their interest in what you have to say – social skills on the wane among the young.  gjr]

“What we need is effective gun control”
That’s what has been sold after every big massacre… starting with the St. Valentine’s Day shindig in Chicago.
    Not buying it.

psul: “What we need is effective gun control.”
The key word is ‘effective’ of course.
A tricky matter unless you can somehow get rid of guns, legal or illegal, owned by insane men-in-dresses and black ‘teens’.
Huh. Black market issues aside (and the 2nd Amendment of course), I wonder if you couldn’t tie gun ownership to property ownership somehow. Add in voting and you’ve changed the world.

It’s the icky guns at fault…
No, it isn’t. In this case it was a young person of confused sexuality who had their body carved up by so-called “Doctors” who shot up their former school where their mom worked for a time.

    “No, you can’t.”
If you had quoted my entire statement, the answer is of course ‘sure you could’. It’s no more ridiculous a law than most.
A problem with property ownership as a prerequisite for full citizenship is the inevitable gaming of the system. 1 square inch lots would abound.
It’s interesting to think about how a voting body made up purely of males, over 21, property owners, some sort of minimum military service, would affect policy. Our current system is rather a new thing in any country, and as usual there’ll be evolutionary pressure on what works and what doesn’t. I suppose that in the final analysis success will be measured purely by birth rate, particularly with cultures on either side of the replacement ratio.

Johnson is an idiot and you’re too stupid to see what a maroon he is.
He claims Kiley doesn’t listen to the voters in his district – a safe district because the majority of voters in his district like him.
It’s a safe district BECAUSE he listens to his voters.

Re:Golden Dome (sounds like that might be the next thing that Trump wants to gold plate at the Capitol)
“This administration, and MAGA world, thinks about itself as being victimized by immigrants, government waste, leftist professors, and so on,” says Edward Tabor Linenthal, a historian who examined public narratives about SDI in his 1989 book Symbolic Defense: The Cultural Significance of the Strategic Defense Initiative. “It’s not much of a jump to be victimized by too many nations getting nuclear weapons.”

I can’t imagine anyone would waste their time going after Vice President Fellatrix…..

President cancels Kamala’s Secret Service detail…

….unless it’s someone from the hood whom she jailed for their kids truancy issues or for smoking a little weed during a period when she was pretending to be “a tough on crime prosecutor”!
Anyway….hardly a federal responsibility in this era of extremely tight budgets! Maybe decamp to the old country…..Africa….India….Ladies choice! Either would be fine if the Boxed Wine supplies are reliable!
I’m sure Hillary Clinton has that research squirreled away somewhere! She should call…..

If johnson is smart he will stay away from pritzker as he is binge eating. –
“Six people were killed, and 24 people were shot, in Chicago last weekend, and JB Pritzker, the weak and pathetic Governor of Illinois, just said that he doesn’t need help in preventing CRIME. He is CRAZY!!! He better straighten it out, FAST, or we’re coming! MAGA. President DJT,” Trump wrote.

    ScottO Re: Johnson’s letter…
“Since he was elected, the Congressman has enjoyed a level of job security that has allowed him to do only the bare minimum. He prefers hosting telephone town halls to attending in-person town halls, and he spends more time talking to the personalities on Newsmax than to the people in his district.
If the Congressman wants to save his job, he will have to change his tactics. It is time for him to get out of his Rocklin office and start talking with his constituents, even people he doesn’t agree with. As the disastrous town halls hosted by Congressman Doug LaMalfa demonstrate, this experience may not be pleasant, but it will be necessary if Kiley hopes to hold onto his seat
    ScottO says…
“He claims Kiley doesn’t listen to the voters in his district – a safe district because the majority of voters in his district like him.
It’s a safe district BECAUSE he listens to his voters.”
Kiley is afraid to show his face in Nevada County.
ScottO is the only one who thinks Kiley listens to his constituents. It is a “safe” district because there were more votes for him. That doesn’t mean he listens to anyone.
And Abbott doesn’t care if Blue Reps are listened to by their constituents. He wants to erase them.

Unbelievable quote from Trump lauding a person who was directly involved in the smashing in of doors to the Capitol during the Jan 6 rebellion calling her a patriot. She was shot by police trying to defend the Capitol.
““Who is the person that shot an innocent, wonderful, incredible woman, a military woman, right in the head?” Trump said. “There is no repercussion — that were on the other side, it would be the biggest story in this country. Who shot Ashli Babbitt? People want to know and why.”

Do you believe Ashli Babbitt should be heralded as a hero as Trump does?
“The U.S. government is offering military funeral honors for Ashli Babbitt, the rioter who was killed at 35 by an officer in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.”

Wow. Check this out from Ty Cobb, Trumps former attorney!

Former White House attorney Ty Cobb, who served in Donald Trump’s first administration, on Sunday issued a chilling warning to fellow Americans.

“I think we should be scared to death,” Cobb told MSNBC’s Alex Witt, during a discussion on the indictment of former FBI director James Comey.

Cobb noted how the Justice Department “in the ordinary course of traditional processes” had concluded there was “insufficient evidence” to prosecute Comey and that he was only now being targeted because he was “an enemy of the president.”

“This is really authoritarianism,” and “should scare everybody,” Cobb cautioned.

Cobb also suggested that Trump’s deployment of troops to cities was possibly “practice exercises” of something more sinister to come and that the president’s focus on targeting his perceived domestic enemies is “just narcissistic vengeance at its core.”

What “scares me the most,” Cobb said, is how few Americans seem to realize the dangers of the moment they are living in, and the need for them to stand up to Trump and the GOP.

    0Quick0….to the fainting couch….,.

“We the People are going about our lives — food, music, community, work — just trying to get by in peace. This government’s “leaders” — the president, Hegseth, Miller, Bannon, Patel, etc. — spew baseless hate-filled declarations of “war on the left.” Given her recently proclaimed “war on hate speech,” AG Bondi should be rounding them all up, including the entire complacent Republican mob in Congress..

Considering events of just the past two weeks (murder at sea, Epstein evasions, attempts at censorship, etc.), it’s a shock to see how many still stand behind this convicted felon, this charlatan, swindler, conniving opportunist, this traitor, backstabber, racist, infidel, misogynist and molester, this cheat, LIAR, and deal-breaker who doesn’t pay his debts, this illiterate braggart, draft dodger and war criminal, this vindictive man who openly displays his capacity for hate and retribution as well as his complete disregard for our Constitution, the nation’s laws, and fundamental decency.

We the People are NOT at war. We ARE in resistance. The “war” belongs to the louts who just go along. These complicit republicans betray our trust, and what’s worse is … they know it!

Resistance is what the Declaration of Independence is all about. That inspired piece of work has meaning in our moment. Refresh your memory, then “declare the causes which impel (you) to the separation” from, and the abolishment of, this gang of mean-spirited, ego-driven, anti-American barkers.
