[NYC’s Mamdani is a communist in socialist’s clothing. He is now polling at the 40+% level and sure to be the city’s next mayor. On his current Hate Trump tour he is telling his double dummies that he’s willing to work with Trump as long as the president is ready to federally subsidize his ‘affordability’ projects like free city transit rides and cheap food from city-owned grocery stores. Gerald Baker in the 12aug25 WSJ (here) posits that Mamdani may herald a new kind of class struggle – “It’s the overeducated elites, not laborers or the masses, who are getting behind socialism today.” gjr]

The answer to Punchy is no, it isn’t valid.

Who do you think authorized Ghislaine Maxwell to go to a minimum security prison ? She is a horrible and dangerous person. why is it that there are those who are sent to wire cages in the Everglades who have not been convicted of anything and she goes out of nowhere to a minimum security country club prison where she may have work privileges to leave during the day? Who do you think authorized that?

Don’t correct Dear Leader’s bullshit numbers.
Powell fact checks Trump on extra building he add to list recently.
Powell needs to go.
“During a tour of the renovation site in July 2025, Trump claimed that the project’s costs had risen to $3.1 billion. Powell disputed this figure, stating that Trump was including a third building, the Martin Building, which had been renovated and completed in 2021, into the current renovation’s costs.”

Another rhetorical and actual loss for the criminal coddles –
A CNN commentator and frequent critic of President Donald Trump ripped Democrats over their response to his federalization of D.C.’s police force in order to combat crime.
“That doesn’t mean it’s a bad political strategy,” Cupp said. “I think it’s a very good one. And the numbers can be what they are. But also people don’t feel that way. And when it comes to two things, crime and the economy, feelings don’t really care about your facts.”
She then critcized Democrats for their response to Trump’s crackdown on crime.
“And I can’t tell you how profoundly stupid it is for Democrats to get up with their facts and their figures and their charts and their graphs and say, ‘Look, you’re safe. Can’t you read this chart, idiots? Why are you complaining? I’m showing you right here how safe you are. So shut up and move along,’” Cupp said.
She also said that Democrats don’t have the best track record for telling the truth.
“I don’t have to tell you how profoundly stupid that is, because voters told you how profoundly stupid that was in 2024, when Democrats said, ‘See these economic numbers? The economy is great. What are you complaining about? See these crime numbers? Crime’s down. You’re safe. See these immigration numbers? Obama deported way more. There’s no migrant crisis,’” Cupp said.

Here’s one ready to explode. Just developing:
“President Donald Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen revealed in a new interview that he handled a rape complaint against him and the late financier Jeffrey Epstein just weeks before the 2016 election.
Cohen mentioned the Jane Doe complaint almost in passing during an interview with journalist Tara Palmieri, who wrote on her “Red Letter” website that the details revealed by the former attorney resembled allegations made at that time by a woman known as Katie Johnson.
“She was a Jane Doe who accused President Trump in three different lawsuits of raping her in Jeffrey Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse in 1994, when she was a 13-year-old aspiring model,” Palmieri wrote. “She was planning to hold a press conference in Los Angeles days before the 2016 election, but instead, she dropped her suit and vanished. Her attorney Lisa Bloom cited death threats. Her lead lawyer, Thomas Meagher, filed a one-page dismissal in Manhattan federal court.”

“For folks like Mamdani, communism always works.”
I’d be surprised if he had any sort of philosophy.
From here, he just looks like the average US politician, particularly one in an urban area.
You basically say whatever it takes to get the gig on the ‘issues’ of the day and hopefully belong to the same ethnicity as a large chunk of voters (with the exception of mature white wimmen, who typically vote the swarthy party anymore). Hold hands, shake babies, smile, read speeches from a teleprompter.
It never was that uncommon, it’s just that now gubmint has metastasized into every corner of your life in order to do Good Deeds. It inevitably became a spoils system some time ago, so that’s baked into the cake.
I expect that he’ll get the job and immediately appoint a black or lesbian (or both) Police Commissioner and Police Chief, although some other ethnic group might have their eye on the department.
NYC is a funny case since, like London, it looks to be barely part of the host country.

Re PaulE and Mamdani – My assessment is that Paul is quite sanguine about Mamdani’s public policy proposals for NYC (and the country). He’s had plenty of chance to comment on the socialist cum communist, and the result has been the sound of silence. According to his own standards revealed over the years, if you don’t oppose someone/something then you are automatically in favor of what you don’t oppose.
