People don’t like the BBB that’s now law.  Latest WSJ poll shows 42% support, 52% oppose the law. “At least half of poll respondents said the legislation would harm poor people, the working class, Social Security beneficiaries, the US economy, Medicaid recipients nutrition-assistance recipients and the federal budget deficit.”  Every one of these claims is reported by the lamestream and is dead wrong.  The truth is that illegals and ineligibles will no longer receive benefits they’re not entitled to, and every working class will benefit from the new tax law which avoided the biggest US tax increase in history.  But the Dem sleazebags know that their constituents are not capable of refuting any of their claims. (more here)

Epstein files – Trump’s request to unseal and release the grand jury transcripts is a matter of record.  It’s a federal district judge who has ruled against their release, and none of that is reported by the lamestream media  Dumb Dem voters continue believing their lying politicians and leftwing reporters that it is Trump who is  trying to hide the dirt in the Epstein files.  I guess stupid is forever.

[update] The Gonnas – The Democrat lying machine is in fine fettle telling their double dummies that the BBB law is gonna starve the children, gonna decimate Medicare and Medicaid, gonna take away Social Security from the retirees, gonna separate children from parents, gonna cause inflation, gonna take money from the poor, gonna enrich the rich, gonna kill democracy, and on and on.  None of it has happened or is true as a simple reading of the law will inform the literate of which there seem to be a diminishing number among the country’s leftwingers – RR is also testimony to this.  The Democrats have NO POLICIES OF THEIR OWN to offer – save from their embarrassing communist in NYC – so all they can do is concoct a dire picture of the future for America under Republicans.  Their ludicrous litany should be evaluated on the basis of all the gonnas they have predicted over the last 20 years – e.g. no party and administration has so mistreated children as have Bumblebrain and his Democrats letting in hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied illegal minors, and then without any accounting allowing them to disappear into the countryside to suffer from unimaginable ordeals as human trafficked child laborers, sex workers, street criminals, homeless waifs, … .

[1aug25 update] $100M, poof gone. The celebrity filled FireAid concert raised this amount for the benefit of last January’s thousands of LA area wildfire victims who lost their homes.  To date the money is all gone with none of it to help the intended victims.  Congressman Kevin Kiley is launching an investigation of how these monies were stolen by TBD LA politicians who spirited the funds into the coffers of leftwing 501c3 outfits that promote California’s ongoing disastrous public policies and progressive politicians.  Government fraud, waste, and abuse for all to see.

So George the BBB says they are going to cut Medicaid almost $1 trillion over the next 10 years. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that this means that 11.8 million Americans may lose their health insurance.
How do they know that they will all for illegals and ineligiblesas you put it? what studies and research was done to come up with that figure?

PaulE 208pm – People who continue to qualify for the programs’ benefits will have the documentation that the law requires. The ones who don’t won’t. And you may want to do your own research instead of asking people to do it for you. Re CBO – given the abysmal record of that bureaucracy in doing any calculations that turn out true, you may want to consider other sources.

This is a definition of the CBO. Are you saying this is not a reliable source? Is this not the job of the CBO to come up with this information for the Legislature to aid in their decision process?
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is a federal agency within the legislative branch of the U.S. government that provides objective, nonpartisan analysis and information to support the congressional budget process. It was established in 1974 to offer Congress an alternative source of information to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which is part of the executive branch. The CBO’s primary role is to provide Congress with information on the budgetary and economic effects of proposed legislation, as well as to produce baseline budget projections.

PaulE 536am – Years of news reports, articles, and commentaries on the ongoing series of CBO failures. For openers, one of their fundamental deficits is their use of static economic models which take no account of the dynamism of the economy’s growth – butt stupid, but mandated by Congress. The CBO is a congressional propaganda tool, worthless for supporting legislative decisions. You are a CBO consumer.

‘Largest ever cuts’ wouldn’t be hard considering they’ve never actually been cut in the past.
And there are no tax cuts for for the ‘ULTRA’ wealthy. Used to be just ‘the wealthy’ until Bernie Sanders became wealthy. I guess the next step will be the UBER-ULTRA wealthy. I’m so old I remember when it was just the ‘well-off’. Then folks on welfare became well-off so the boogie-man scare terms have to inflate along with the dollar.

The organizers of FireAid offered to make their records available to Kiley, but he chose to showboat by writing a letter to Bondi requesting an investigation. (Doesn’t he know she has more important things to do, like uncovering voter fraud in 2020 and 2024?)
Kiley based his complaint on gripes that appeared on the internet. The Los Angeles Times actually contacted more than 100 nonprofits listed as recipients of FireAid. Each reported it received the money promised for use in feeding survivors, clothing fire victims, providing mental health services, and saving animals’ lives.
But Kiley got what he wanted: Exposure in California’s largest media market.
Dr. R, you write: “$100M poof gone.” What’s your evidence? Kiley’s online gripes?

And this is over six months later. Only funds distributed so far are to “wildfire relief organizations”, all which to date have stated plainly that it is not in their charter to distribute money directly to individual victims. So where the hell is the money going??

Your shared cohort numbers less than 250,000 (digital and print) while Fox News enjoys a daily viewership in excess of 1.5M, over six times that of LAT. And Fox Business beats EVERY other business news broadcaster on the air today. The viewerships of FN and FB include a large share of liberals, those who know the bullshit factor on daily display in the NYT, WaPo, LAT, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, … . Regrettably you are not among them.

    Yeah – ignorance is bliss!
If no one tells us about corruption, then everyone will be happier!
    It’s not just Kiley –
“Sue Pascoe, an investigative journalist and victim of the Palisades fire, said she received a query from a concerned reader that led her to question where the funds went. Pascoe emailed the Annenberg Foundation to find out where individuals could apply for funding. Pascoe spoke with Chris Wallace, the organizations Chief Communications Officer. She says Wallace informed her that the funds would not go to residents affected by the fires, but rather to non-profits affiliated with the Annenberg Foundation.”

Dr. R, your desire for less BS in the news media rings hollow from somebody who embraces a president who is generally allergic to hard evidence. You have remained silent about Trump’s firing of the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics because she rigged the numbers to make him look bad.
Now that Trump’s tariffs are apparently set (subject, of course, to change without notice), I can’t wait to see how the administration handles the resulting inflation. If I was one of the economists who has to come up with that number, I’d start circulating my resume now. I’ve been told for decades that we can’t trust statistics from the Russians and Chinese because they rig them to make their leaders look good. Now you can add the U.S. to that list.
You apparently also embrace Kennedy’s fact-based medical decisions. In science, hypotheses are tested against evidence; Kennedy starts with conclusions and cherry-picks data that fits. His invocation of science is purely rhetorical–he follows it only when it leads where he already wants to go. As a man of science, you should be offended. Instead, you remain silence. Spare me the lectures about my delusions.

And Trump was right and had every reason to fire his statistician given her methodology and the results she published. This was well covered by my other commenters – no need for me to pile on. Re Kennedy’s decisions on vaccines, the science there is not settled and he has plenty of peer reviewed citations to bolster his opinions. Yours are simply allegations that side with the ongoing anti-Kennedy campaign, and not any definitive refutation. Not having read the contending literature, as a scientist I will let the dust settle a bit before coming to any conclusions. You don’t have to do that.

Ah yes – when the Dems cook the books it’s OK. But not if we think the R’s are doing it!
Folks that aren’t led around by the nose well remember all the blather from Yellen and company about how inflation didn’t exist, and then it was ‘transitory’ and then finally how it was good for us!
Then of course there were the job numbers that looked rosy for a bit and later very quietly ‘revised’.
But now Boardman is awaken by stupid press releases by the Dems masquerading as hard news in the press that Trump has ‘shot the messenger’.
It remains to be seen if we will get any more accurate financial data from the Trump crowd, but until then let’s not hear any more hair-pulling BS about how NOW we join China and Russia as purveyors of false financial data.

You never did provide factual examples verifying Trumps reasons for firing Erika McEntarfer only the opinions of commentators. She was the collector of data that came from hundreds of sources. Could you follow up on that?
Here;s info on the roll of the BLS:
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) releases reports that can shift global markets and influence Federal Reserve interest rate decisions, impacting personal finances across the U.S. The numbers in the BLS reports have a direct impact on retirement accounts, home values, and Social Security payments.
On the first Friday of each month, the BLS publishes a jobs report, compiled by surveying tens of thousands of businesses and households. In states like South Carolina and New Mexico, participation for large businesses is required, while in most states, it is voluntary. The first release of the jobs report is described by the BLS as a “quick, but lower resolution snapshot” of the labor market. As more data becomes available, the BLS updates these figures, a process known as “revisions.”
