For years my conservative friends and I have shared a common experience when talking to a leftwinger about current events.  They all have massive blind spots in what they know of what’s going on.  The explanation is simple.  They only get their news from leftwing lamestream media which simply omits, minimizes, or hides happenings that do not conform to the Left’s worldview.

I was reminded of this again when waking up to National Propaganda Radio this morning (yes, like most conservatives, I’m interested in what my liberal neighbors see and hear).  In their weekend news coverage NPR extensively described, among other items, one 600-person anti-Trump demonstration in a remote little town in upper New York state.  This was illustrated as an example of broad grass roots participation in hundreds of such well-organized demonstrations across the country.

However, another very significant and historical large-scale event was totally ignored, and that was the once-in-a-lifetime, massive military parade down Constitution Avenue in Washington DC celebrating our Army’s 250th birthday – not a word or even a whisper.  To our leftwing friends and neighbors it never happened.  This serves as an example of lamestream’s normal β€˜unbiased coverage’ of the news and explains away the ignorance of RR’s leftwing readers as expressed in their contributed comments.  They get a wholly different picture of the country and world from the NYT, WaPo, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, … .

And as such, as I have often reminded readers, leftwingers not only have their own opinions, but also their own facts, history, science, logic, … which are markedly (sometimes totally) different from what those of us on the Right have learned and experience.  The country’s schism is complete simply for the lack of a productive common ground, and to that is added their totally different method of reasoning, even if some vestiges of common beliefs were to be found.

Then we come to the overall intellectual deficit from which today’s journalism suffers; and here I include the right-leaning outlets like Fox News and Fox Business.  While they do a very good job covering the waterfront of the world’s happenings, their correspondents (and/or news scribes) more often than not omit the critical follow-on questions (to interviewees) or inclusion of crucial points that are fundamental to their reports.  And with these omissions they surrender the field to the country’s socialist cadres and their interpretations which these outlets air lavishly.

Here's a timely example from reporting on today’s grossly misnamed β€˜immigration’ issue  involving the ongoing deportation of illegal aliens.  The Left points out how our agriculture industry would be massively crippled if its current workforce of 40% illegals were to be deported.  In covering this no correspondent of the Right is smart enough to include in their report that, were it to be undertaken, it would take a considerable period of time to deport the thousands of illegals who make up the 40%.  Over this period there would be a natural process (of replacement workers and technology) accompanied by policy changes (e.g. reinitiation of the bracero program) that would minimally affect the industry, if at all.  But by not including this important reality leaves the Left’s misleading point of an instantaneous removal of thousands by ICE agents in the minds of our already lightly read audiences.  Other similar examples abound daily.

And when it comes to the aired interviews which produce either outlandish assertions or questions totally unanswered, the journalist has two revealing remedies.  First, ask the interviewee on what evidence they base their assertion which will quickly expose their (biased?) basis or shows that they don’t have any for their public stance.  Second, never ignore a by-passed question; the reporter must always tell his audience that the question went unanswered and/or provide an opportunity to fill the exposed void.

Finally, we should all know that outlets like the NPR should not be provided public funding to support spewing their grossly politically-biased views.  They should appeal to their like-minded audiences and sponsors for the means to exercise their First Amendment rights.

I am a firm believer our public school system has failed to foster a sense of deep investigation into news stories and current affairs. Ready access to information via portable electronic devices and social media venues (and very short attention spans) have led to most folks on both sides getting their “information” in the form of headlines and “sound bites.” Few, if any, do a deep dive into the stories and just assume they’ve been appropriately “informed.” I’ve even had a like minded conservative/libertarian friend say we should abolish the electoral college, until I set him straight regarding the vital importance of said institution…sigh. Many friends and relatives rely on TikTok and other mind melting venues as their sources for finding out what is happening in the world.

A good, not hyperbiased deconstruction of the recent presser whose commandeering was foiled by the Secret Service providing security:

The saddest part of all of this are the people (looking at BeerBelly and Paul) that still believe the lies even after some of their fellow leftists start recanting the nonsense that was spewed out for years.
It’s human nature to begrudge that people you don’t like were correct about a topic of disagreement.
But the Dems and the left seem to be prone to a complete breakdown at this point as they have an entire world view built on lies, fantasy, and magical thinking.
Once a person becomes convinced they are on the side of good (or God) without a system of checks or the ability to be open to hard questioning, they will go off the reality rails and head for the weeds.
It certainly exists on the right (Minnesota shooter) and the left (countless examples) but right now our system of education and most of our mainline info streams are in thrall to a leftist and collectivist creed that countenances no real debate or soul-searching about issues beyond how closely they are hewing to the party line.

A person’s preferred version of reality dictates what media he or she pays attention to. I have relatives who use Fox News as their main source of news and information, and they are woefully ignorant about a lot things Fox apparently doesn’t cover.
I ignore all of the talking head networks and make sure I read the Wall Street Journal every day.

GeorgeB 1054am – Your providing even a short list of “a lot of things” that FN omitted which were covered by the leftwing media would be most helpful in supporting your observation. And in all my years of having serious conversations with leftwingers, I have yet to hear of a single thing that they introduced to me of which I was not informed by FN/FB and/or the WSJ (whom you know to be connected at the hip). But I have heard from them many things that were flat out false which were easy to debunk, and for which they had no reasonable response.
Do not confuse someone’s ignorance from not having attended their reliable news source(s) with the ignorance resulting from having attended and not being informed.

“…and they are woefully ignorant about a lot things Fox apparently doesn’t cover.”
Yeah – those fools didn’t know Biden was ‘Sharp As A Tack’!
Ignoring the major news sources deprives you of understanding just how wacked out millions of Americans are. Joy Reid, Maddow, and web sites like DK are a fount of lefty and Dem lies, insanity, and hatred that explains how we end up with elected officials such as those that have arisen from CA.
And of course in Nevada County you have that crew that run Indivisible Nevada County. From their web site:
“They’ve defied our courts, deported American citizens, disappeared people off the streets, and slashed our services…”
    Really? Examples?
There’s BS on both sides but the Left and the Dems have pushed the ratio waaaaay over to their side of the aisle.
And I don’t see it ever coming back to an even keel.

They’re counting as “deported American citizens” minor children who got a plane ride out of the country when one or both parents, who were to be deported, asked they come along.
It’s contrary to the mantra that La Migra doesn’t separate children from their parents.

Gregory 12:54 – Must be tough to be a Lefty. They’re always confused about what stories they tell. Nancy complains Trump wouldn’t send in the Guard and when he does he becomes a tyrant. He’s accused of “tearing families apart” and then he allows some of the deported illegals to take their children with them and now he’s “deporting citizens”.
The “king” of No Kings Day didn’t bother a single solitary peaceful protester.
Some king ya got there. Woo Hoo! Booga Booga! Last I heard Trump had “dismantled” the federal govt and all elections had been eliminated forever!
And – just like the Hitler he is, he’s going after the Ivies that tolerate anti-semitic violence. Boy!
Honestly – If I were a lefty these days, I’d collapse from exhaustion at trying to keep all my BS straight.
True leftys don’t have that problem I guess – they just go from one BS story to the next without a clue.

Here is something you wont see on the walking dead so-called news channels like cnn, msnbc etc. –
Over the five polling days between June 8-12, Rasmussen surveyed 1,772 likely voters and found that Trump enjoys an overall 53 percent job approval rating. This includes 54 percent approval from black voters and 53 percent support from Hispanic voters. White voters come in at 53 percent. I don’t think I ever remember a Republican president enjoying a higher job approval rating from black voters compared to white voters.
A total of 59 percent of men approve of the job Trump is doing, compared to 49 percent of women.
What must be especially demoralizing about these polling results for Democrats is that it was during this same time (June 9-12) that the corporate media launched a jihad against Trump for deporting illegal immigrants out of Los Angeles. The media and Democrats even attempted to blame the two-term president for the violent, left-wing riots in Los Angeles that were encouraged by elected Democrats and only brought under control when Trump sent in the U.S. Marines after federalizing the National Guard.

Here’s an example from your current post: In discussing the farm labor issue, you seem to be unaware thar Trump has told ICE to give farmers, hotels and restaurants a pass on grabbing arresting illegal workers. A quick scan of Fox News online shows no mention of this. I wonder why.

GeorgeB 345pm – Your scan was faulty. This was covered on both FN and FB several days ago. Here’s a 12jun25 online example. Perhaps your sources are just now picking up this old news – good for them.

re: George Boardman with the typical amount of cutting edge research sez: ” A quick scan of Fox News online shows no mention of this”
    also from Foxnews.com
“The Trump administration called for a halt on deportation raids on agricultural sites, hotels and restaurants, and not to arrest “noncriminal collaterals” the New York Times reported. The move came out of fears that the sweeping raids were hurting key industries in the U.S.””
I mean, seriously, aren’t you guys even slightly embarrassed?
