George Rebane

Today the Rebanes landed on these shores 76 years ago (here).  It was the most fortuitous and wisest move by my parents to accept America’s 1948 invitation to the Balts then ensconced in displaced persons camps all over West Germany.  It has been documented many times since by historians and journalists that the then racially biased US considered northern European refugees from USSR-invaded countries as the most desirable immigrants to fill the country’s needs for educated and skilled workers.  My father was an electrician and mom was an accomplished seamstress.

The leftwing (aka ‘mainstream’, lamestream) media confirms its continuing distortions of the news it chooses to cover.  The most recent example, now ongoing, is the arrest of Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan.  According to the ultra-leftwing AP (here), Judge Dugan simply “helped a man evade immigration authorities”.  Nowhere in the report is it disclosed that “the man” was a criminal illegal alien on trial for whom ICE agents had a warrant and were waiting to arrest him outside Judge Dugan’s courtroom door.  Knowing this, Dugan took it upon herself to spirit the criminal alien and his lawyer out a courthouse side door.  The man was later caught by ICE and arrested.  Judge Dugan was suspended pending an investigation, and the usual leftwing mob quickly assembled to protest the arrest.  It was led by a Democratic politician Rep Ryan Clancy who blamed Trump for the whole thing – “The judiciary acts as a check to unchecked executive power.  And functioning democracies do not lock up judges.”  Presumably because liberal judges are above the law as the last four years have demonstrated.

[7may25 update] ‘California’s green new scam could cost your $20,000.’ (here)  The clowns in Sacramento are determined to do all they can to economically sink the state’s middle class, leaving the rich and those on the government tit the only ones who can afford to stay here.  Every statement about the benefits of their new green mandates is turning out to be a lie, and more on the way.  “Aside from higher costs, these mandates will also soon bring major energy shortfalls – the state will be 21.2% short of the power needed to fuel the grid each day – when the state’s 100% renewable energy and electric vehicle mandates are in effect. And this doesn’t include huge looming power demands for artificial intelligence, or for green appliances and HVAC mandates on homes and businesses that will take effect in the coming years.”

The benefits of the anti-parasite drug Ivermectin have been extensively covered in these pages during the Covid pandemic.  Since then big pharmas opposition to its manifold benefits have been exposed and waning.  Now Louisiana follows Tennessee, Idaho, and Arkansas to pass a bill allowing over-counter Ivermectin to be sold (here).  “Making Ivermectin over the counter will ensure access to the human form of the medication in safe dosing from a pharmacy for its varied uses, …‘Off-label’ use is a well-established practice. It is understood that many drugs, once FDA-approved, will be used to treat other conditions and diseases that were not tested for in the trial.”

Colorado’s collapse under one-party rule allows the state to join California, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois as the next double-dummy Democratic fiefdom in the tank for the lowest economic performance and freedoms available to its citizens. (here)  The Denver Gazette summarizes the results –

  • 39th in the nation for personal income growth.
  • Sixth worst regulatory burden in the nation.
  • In March, we had the second-highest unemployment rate (not an atypical month).
  • Job-growth rate of 0.17% (March 2024-March 2025), 43rd in the nation.
  • A bottom-10 destination for people moving in from other states.

Beginning in 2019 “Colorado has obstructed energy production — a major Colorado export — at an expense of the state’s economy and high-wage blue-collar jobs.” The paper added, “In all, multiple new regulations since 2018 have Colorado producing less oil and gas in 2025 than in 2019, as the country’s production has increased.”

    George,
Just released today – Biden’s Presidential Library and Museum put out a news release that paraphrased your writing. (I think they actually stole it).
“It has been documented many times since, by historians and journalists, that the racially biased US considered southern American refugees from Marxist-invaded countries as the most desirable immigrants to fill the country’s needs for non-educated and less-skilled workers.”
The Library pointed out that one of the most cherished of these desirables was Kamala Harris herself – epitomizing the non-educated part perfectly. “These new arrivals have made a significant difference in how America is perceived by the world” the release concluded.

Efox 505am – It looks to me as the work of an AI writer/editor that continually scans the web for relevant word sequences that can be modified to fit the purpose of the piece being composed. I think we’re going to be seeing a lot such word sequences lifted from pre-published pieces, and no one will know. Your having picked up the striking similarity was no doubt a very rare event. Thanks.

Here’s an interesting article by the Cato institute about the fact that illegal immigrants have a lower crime rate in the country than
american citizens. Check this out and let me know what you think.
“Why Do Illegal Immigrants Have a Low Crime Rate? 12 Possible Explanations”
The evidence is overwhelming that immigrants in the United States have had a lower crime rate than native-born Americans since at least the 19th century. When people learn that fact, they aren’t surprised that legal immigrants have a lower crime rate than native-born Americans, but they are surprised that it’s also true for illegal immigrants. The follow-up question people ask is, “Why do illegal immigrants have low crime rates?” It’s a good question.
After all, illegal immigrants broke immigration laws when they entered or overstayed, and they tend to be younger, male, less educated, have lower wages, and are members of ethnic or racial groups that tend to have higher crime rates among native-born Americans. Thus, it’s understandable why people are perplexed about why illegal immigrants have a lower crime rate in the United States. That’s where theories of crime come in.”
    the explaination is here:

PaulE 911am – Stipulate that Cato’s reasoning is correct. The point we should all focus on is that the illegal aliens do contribute to the number of annual crimes that Americans are exposed to, crimes that should not have happened in our borders had the illegals not broken the law upon their entry. As long as they commit crimes while here, their relative crime rate does not matter.

    More winning –
Thanks to the Department of Government Efficiency and new tariff revenue, deficit spending dropped by 92 percent during President Donald Trump’s first approximately 100 days in office, compared to the same period last year under then-President Joe Biden.
The Washington Examiner reported that from Inauguration Day to May 5, debt held by the public rose by approximately $38 billion.
Last year, under Biden, the total was about $478 billion.
“[T]hat means that the growth in our outstanding national debt fell by an astounding 92 percent,” according to the Examiner.
The outlet primarily credited the work of DOGE in slashing federal spending, as well as the increase in tariff revenue.

    Looks like rebellion to me.
Seriously, the misuse and continuing redefinition of ‘due process’ is not one I expected to see. It shows how good the Democrats are at the long game, in this case placing activist judges. The federal court system was definitely a weak spot that the Founders didn’t foresee.
For the West generally, I’d say that ‘whatever it takes’ is probably the right answer for the problem of invasion by the 3rd world. It really is existential at this point. Realistically, given the weakness and gracile nature of the founding population leadership, I’d say the most likely long term result is turning the US and Europe into a giant Beirut…ethnic enclaves, checkpoints, and local warlords.

The socialist dem death spiral is in full effect, all your dei racist bullshit did was make your simpletons into self-loathing losers. Not a base just a pile of shit as a foundation for a party –
A national poll of 2,098 adults ages 18 to 29, conducted by the Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics from March 14 to 25, found that 76 percent of young Republicans said they are proud to be American, compared to 24 percent of Democrats. Just 8 percent of Republicans said they are embarrassed to be American, while 54 percent of Democrats expressed the same sentiment. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.21 percentage points.
After citing the polling data, Maher acknowledged, “Is America perfect? No, of course not.” He went on to say that the United States is “leagues ahead of the rest of the world on most of the progressive issues that are important to young people,” citing statistics on women-owned businesses, same-sex marriage rights and more.
He stated that the “dilemma” for Democrats, is that young members are backingthe “wrong ones” citing support for Hamas and the Houthis. He added that they are “looking for love in all the wrong countries,” rather than appreciating the U.S. His comments are largelyin reference to various pro-Palestinian protests across the country that have happened since the Israel-Hamas war broke out in October 2023.
“If the thoughtleaders in the Democratic Party keep encouraging and not rebuking the idea that America is cringe, and the people who run Gaza are great, the Democrats are doomed,” Maher concluded.
