[‘Making English Our National Language Is One Step Toward A More Unified Country’ is a true statement, and long overdue. I grew up in a bilingual environment, speaking only Estonian at home with my parents. But we all recognized the importance of speaking English as one of the main bonds unifying us as Americans with everyone else in the country. gjr]

“Hello everybody, it’s JD. I use they, them and turtle for my pronouns. I’m in the Springfield-Eugene area and I get to be part of the council,” Holt said during a Dec. 20 virtual OCAC meeting. Gender Wiki, a website that documents the list of non-binary genders, describes “turtlegender,” sometimes called “tortoisegender,” as “a xenogender identity in which one feels a gendered connection to turtles.”
“WHAT TO DO AT AN ICE CHECKPOINT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WHITE and/or FEEL THE NEED TO JAM UP THE WORKS,” Holt wrote in a Jan. 29 Facebook post. Holt’s post encouraged people to yell and scream at federal immigration authorities and make their jobs as “difficult and uncomfortable” as possible.

United States of MAGA sleasiness
and stupidity
As a “show of confidence” in his buddy Elon Musk, president Donald Trump on Tuesday turned the White House lawn into a Tesla advertisement in all but name. The day before, Trump had promised that he’d immediately buy a brand new Tesla to support Musk, whose automaker is currently facing falling sales and a plunging stock price.
The resulting spectacle was a bizarre and alarming mingling of the official powers of public office with naked salesmanship. Here was a sitting president plugging the cars made by his close confidante and biggest donor, who bankrolled his campaign to the tune of an astonishing $288 million.
In short, it exuded that brand of sleaziness unique to American car dealerships. And nothing exemplifies this more than Trump’s speech notes from the event, which a photographer managed to capture clearly.
“Teslas can be purchased as low as $299/month or $35k,” reads one part of the handwritten notes, indistinguishable from what you’d hear from the booming narrator of a car commercial.

I admit that I appreciate the sheer unadorned griftiness of the US Left.
“The Department of Justice is investigating the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a $27 billion program that was part of Joe Biden’s $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act. Created in the spring of 2023, and managed by the Environmental Protection Agency, the fund was supposed to be a first-of-its-kind program to address the climate crisis while revitalizing communities that it considered “historically left behind.”
But it appears little of the $27 billion revitalized anything—except the coffers of a range of environmental nonprofits associated with former Obama and Biden administration officials.”

lol. What a way to make a living and certainly a far cry from professional journalists from a long time ago, but it sells. Guys like that get views in the same order of magnitude as CNN or 60 Minutes. Brave New World. Real media power is in the hands of someone like Elon Musk, not just the reins to X but his account has 220M followers.
In terms of WSJ-under-the-bus just keep an eye on X, Trump’s base has little to do with old school Republicans (or, honestly, George R for that matter). There’s been a generational change and worrying about traditional MSM is a fogey hobby. The New Way is to get everything from social media, often siloed, and read it on your smartphone. The value of the NYT, WSJ, Washington Post, etc, is only in that they are quoted by well-known people with accounts on the various websites. (this is all obvious, but thought I’d indulge my typing Tourette’s for a moment).

I did see that. Naturally, the Iron Rice Bowl Brigade is up in arms:
https://old.reddit.com/r/fednews/comments/1jaul4n/musk_retweets_a_message_blaming_public_sector/
The fact that a lot of people view it as unconstitutional to lay-off public sector employees kind of blows me away, but ultimately shows the wisdom of the takeover of prosecutor offices and judge seats by ‘activists’…money well spent in the slow motion takeover of the US. No doubt Team Blue will double down on how ‘TRUMP AND MUSK ARE GOING TO STEAL GRANDMAW’S SOCiAL SEcurRITY AND LOOK AT OUR TAX RETURNS!!!’.
I wonder sometimes what this is all the inevitable result of. Representative democracy and the free lunch? Female suffrage? Replacement of church and social institutions by The State? Deindustrialization? Replacement of English Protestants by the 3rd World? Death of self-employment and self-sufficiency? At least our downfall so far is not as extreme as the UK.
