Today marked another malignant milestone in the US/Ukraine relationship.  President Trump aborted his much-publicized meeting with President Zelensky, and told him to come back when he’s ready to make peace in the three-year Russo-Ukraine war.  The intended objective of the meeting was for both presidents to sign an agreement that would serve as the framework for a more detailed treaty between US and Ukraine spelling out how we would mine their rare earth minerals and share the profits therefrom.

The trouble started when Trump said again that he has a good relationship with Putin and believes that the thug would honor any subsequent peace agreement to end the war.  Trump also needlessly pointed out that Zelensky has no hand to play in these negotiations and will observe the proceedings like a potted plant.  In his turn Zelensky had the temerity to once more caution Trump that Putin has violated every agreement he has signed, many with Ukraine.

The bottom line that should be clear after all these decades in dealing with communists, Marxists, and dictators that none of them have or have ever had a β€˜good relationship’ with ANYONE.  They have all ended with their naΓ―ve counterparties getting screwed in the end, which usually has arrived sooner than later.  For Trump to trumpet his β€˜good relationship’ with Vladimir illustrates our president’s naivete in going into these negotiations with Russia, and gives rise to peals of laughter inside the Kremlin’s walls.  And Zelensky got shown the door today for just bringing up this cautionary piece of history that awkwardly shone a light on Trump’s kindergarten view of his good relations with Putin, Xi, and the ugly fat kid.

If all this geo-political stumbling turns out to be a brilliant opening round to a resolution that stops the fighting, gets us the minerals, and secures the peace (with the US threatening to use its club on anyone who messes with ongoing American investments and mine operations), then I will have egg on my face and gladly admit to my own naivete about how Trump executes the art of the deal.

In the interval, Rebane Doctrine calls for us to engineer a regime change in the Kremlin, preferably with Vladimir’s defenestration by one of his oligarchs with whom he has a β€˜good relationship’.  Short of that we should light a candle in the National Cathedral for Trump’s hoped for epiphany.

There’s nothing in that AfD document that would be out of place in a Democratic Party document circa 1960.
Ms. Rauber, what party are you?

I repeat again AFD is a partly secured right-wing extremistic party and under observation by our Protection of Constitution. Their program shown is an old one! Further it is disrespectful to call a big person “fat”unless one wants to discriminate that person. But if the person is big you can say this since it is the truth. It is up to the so called person to act against it. Ricarda Lang is on diet now and lost a lot of weight. You would be surprised what a beautiful woman she might to turn out.Today “fat” has a negative connotation and it is recognized easyly as an offence. And Gregory why do you urge me to tell you “my party”. Maybe it is the Tierschutzpartei. And Gentlemen I really do not want to discuss with you any more. You believe what you want and I will do the same. Take care of yourselves!

Ok, she’s gone now, afraid to identify what party she identifies with. Das is aber schade.
As far as I can tell, the extremist claim of AfD is that in the past, there have been a couple of people in the AfD to come close to National socialist rhetoric and weren’t thrown out with enough vigor.

Hmmmm, Ricarda Lang is still a pig, if the photos of her and her new hubby is a guide.

As well as failing to even try to support her opinions with facts. The AFD is “bad” because she’s been told it is and she is a good little comrade. So much for an education.

It’s funny how those German ‘laws’ are context dependent.

The basic problem here is that Germans are as crazy as shithouse rats, at least the dominant flavor of Germans. It’s always best to ignore them, a rule I need to remind myself of.

The Conservative Wall Street Journal has this opinion about Trumps tariff plans:
“President Trump likes to cite the stock market when it’s rising as a sign of his policy success, so what does he think about Monday’s plunge? The Dow Jones Industrial Average took a 650-point header after he announced that he’ll hit Mexico and Canada on Tuesday with 25% tariffs.
Mr. Trump said at the White House there was β€œno room left” to negotiate with the two American trade treaty partners-Mexico and Canada. Some of his smarter advisers have been hoping he’d start renegotiating the USMCA and delay the tariffs. But Mr. Trump wants tariffs for their own sake, which he says will usher in a new golden age.
We’ve courted Mr. Trump’s ire by calling the Mexico and Canada levies the β€œdumbest” in history, and we may have understated the point. Mr. Trump is whacking friends, not adversaries.

Running this Ukraine conflict through the lens of World War III I think is misplaced. We don’t have an aggressor here with violent expansive interests like Hitler. I think World War I may be more appropriate. We were in an escalating spiral of defense on both sides. Time to get off the spiral.

    We should listen to him….

Trump is inviting a military catastrophe&humanitarian nightmareβ€”suspending aid for air defense against Russia’s bloody slaughter of civilians as well as arms necessary for battle worn soldiers to hold the line against brutal attacks. His withholding this aid is illegal&immoral.

….as the Hero of Hue City he has street cred!

So the US and Europe give billions to both sides of the war and the arms makers are doing well off of the whole deal. And the Dems are mad at Trump for trying to put an end to it?

Hah, I was just going to type that.
I just spent a few minutes with ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, and the Russian petrochemical imports to Europe appear to vastly outweigh the money sent by European countries for Ukraine v. Russia.
Didn’t know that Trump claimed this, but I would agree with him if that’s his point. I suppose it’s some number that stuck in his head from a briefing.
It’s not an easy number evidently due to numerous backdoors.
