Well starting of anew on the 14th let’s have a look at some of the upstanding citizens that Shotgun Joey decided to cut a break….
All in a busy days work for Paul Emery’s preferred choice to hold these powers as Chief Executive.
* – Sorry George for all the real estate but your friend admittedly doesn’t read links and it is important that he gets a chance to see the type of miscreant that Joe Biden – Man of Intergrity thought was worthy of leniency in these matters.
Paul, we eagerly await a spirited defense of these individuals and an explanation as to why similar leniency shouldn’t be extended to the J6 participants!

“Fake News can come with a price.
ABC News will give $15 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s presidential library in order to settle a defamation lawsuit.
@JustTheNews
This lawsuit came as a result of anchor George Stephanopoulos inaccurately claiming that Trump was found civilly liable for raping E. Jean Carroll.
The network is also expected to post a note on its website apologizing for the claim, according to The Associated Press.
Right after the segment of Stephanopoulos’ claim in March, Trump sued the anchor and the network.
Trump’s attorney will also get $1 million in legal fees as a result of the settlement.”

scenes 6:56 – We’re at the daughter and son-in-law’s place for Christmas. Had a long talk with SIL about his new gig working with a company developing AI products. They hope to go live next year with at least one or two to start with.
The main thing here is that from what I’ve already gleaned – the level of stupidity and ignorance that Andreessen encountered is epic. That they even imagined that they could “control” AI is akin to saying they wanted to control all the wild animals in North America.
No wonder he was horrified.
It wasn’t their desire to control – it was their idea that they could actually accomplish it.

re: AI
I’m still waiting for the killer app, besides just a different approach to internet search, language translation, Wikipedia, or generating BS business memos. There might be some interesting corner case I haven’t run into. Dunno. Maybe it’s self-driving or more malleable manufacturing. Maybe brute force mathematics. My current bet is for decreasing marginal value as money is invested.
No doubt there’s somebody at the .gov that wants to implement Gibson’s Turing Police, fer sure they’ll heavily use all this for surveillance.

regarding the comments about AI as they may or may not apply to my SIL’s involvement in a group working on AI projects:
It ain’t no app or a freebie and in all probability the average person will probably have no knowledge of its existence.
The products will be highly tailored to eliminate thousands of jobs in select fields.
One project currently being developed is Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Another is greatly reducing the cost of discovery before going to trial. Already a large legal firm in NY has stated that it could save them 100’s of millions a year.
Customer service is low hanging fruit and match-ups of current ones in use vs what they have ready to go live show great promise for their offering.

I’ve heard about that for years, but don’t see real movement.
You can make the same case for any imaging or measured medical value really. Ideally the colonoscopy biz would 95% die off due to magic scans, DNA testing, maybe swallowed cameras. GP visits would be an AI with a nurse providing the hands, until even that is cracked.
Maybe even surgeries become totally automated.
It all sounds possible and even reasonable, but mostly is like hearing about the amazing new battery technology of the week. Some combination of risk aversion, medical monopoly, lack of real advancement, conservatism, inertia make it all move more slowly than technology news makes it sound.

Oh jeez, great. What’s the other part of the deal. Newsom runs for President, gets handed a Senate seat?
I wonder sometimes about how we choose CEOs of government. These are basically half-bright people with ambition and the ability to read a script. You just have to hope that the domain experts who really run things are right, or just trust stuff to work itself out without active management.
Hold on, strike that last phrase. Modern humans have this notion that everything needs to be consciously managed.

I think there’s a whole generation of crazy people that society will simply have to age out of. While you can make a cogent argument for how healthcare works and is paid for or how tax rates work, the minute you fall into the moat of men-in-dresses, child mutilation, unlimited 3rd world immigration, and hatred for traditional Western Civ, well, it’s game over. The socialist anti-American indoctrination system that was higher education is turning out a new red guard and it makes moas look like pikers –
A professor at Mangione’s alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania, took to TikTok and Instagram to praise the suspect, which she has since retracted.
UPenn School of Arts and Sciences Deputy Dean Jeffrey Kallberg issued a statement to Fox News Digital on Wednesday regarding the post from UPenn Assistant English Professor Julia Alekseyeva.
“Much concern was raised by recent social media posts attributed to Assistant Professor Julia Alekseyeva,” Kallberg said. “Her comments regarding the shooting of Brian Thompson in New York City were antithetical to the values of both the School of Arts and Sciences and the University of Pennsylvania, and they were not condoned by the School or the University. Upon reflection, Assistant Professor Alekseyeva has concurred that the comments were insensitive and inappropriate and has retracted them.”
Mangione subscribed to anti-capitalist and climate change causes, according to law enforcement sources, the New York Post reported.
When the suspect was taken into custody, four fake IDs, a gun and silencer resembling those used in the shooting, and a handwritten manifesto denouncing the health insurance industry were found on him. In his manifesto, Mangione mentioned UnitedHealthcare specifically, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny told Fox News.
