Magaloons are feverishly repeating the “Trump has a mandate” mantra.

lol. ‘Magaloons’. I hadn’t heard that. Usually it’s ‘MAGAts’ when it’s not the normal kind of hitlernazi sort of thing. This last is odd since the Germans took some time to build a fairly complex legal and social structure for Nazism, and there’s really nothing in the US that rhymes.
Even our ‘Hillbilly’ above can see that the tide has turned somewhat, the dam has broken. There’s something of a push against men with fetishes and towards regular dudes. Being a Deep Blue county and all, maybe Nevada County can keep the flame going by hosting Drag Queen Stripper Pole Story Hour for preschoolers and open up a few abortion clinics and child mutilation centers for people from Idaho to travel to. We could put together a sort of insane people theme park with a Disneyesque Broad Street Crazy Parade complete with the traditional Death To Russia rally at Pioneer Park.
Seriously, there’s money to be made here.

The start of a hybrid war plan by the axis of evil? –
According to reports in Eurasia Daily and Defence24, the Danish Navy has boarded and detained the Chinese Bulk Carrier Yi Peng 3 in the Danish Straits, near the exit of the Great Belt. The detention took place on the evening of November 18. According to Financial Times sources, Sweden authorities are “carefully studying the Chinese vessel.”
The undersea cable connecting Sweden to Lithuania was the first to be hit, sustaining damage around Sunday, November 17, 2024. The Finland-Germany undersea cable was then cut the following day. On Tuesday, the Sweden Ministry of Civil Defense announced that it had recorded the ship’s movements and placed the Yi Peng 3 within the vicinity of possible sabotage events.
This comes just a few months after NATO said that Russia was mapping undersea fiber optic cables as part of its strategy to disrupt communications. While the involved ship is flagged by China, the two countries are, if not exactly allies, at least friendly on friendly terms. Last year, another Chinese cargo ship reportedly dragged an anchor for “hundreds of kilometers,” thus damaging a gas pipeline in the Baltic that connects Finland and Estonia. Finland contends the incident was intentional.

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin appeared downcast Tuesday as she was forced to read a legal disclaimer on air after blasting Attorney General nominee Matt Gaetz over accusations that he had sex with a 17-year-old girl and was engaged in illegal sex trafficking.
Hostin had ranted minutes earlier about the allegations against Gaetz, President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to run the Justice Department.
“How could you nominate someone with allegations of child trafficking or trafficking across state lines and having sex with a 17-year-old?” Hostin asked viewers, according to a clip of the Tuesday show that was shared on X.
Just three minutes later, co-host Whoopi Goldberg brought the discussion to a halt by saying, “Sunny, you have a legal note.”
“I do, Whoopi, thank you,” Hostin replied before reading off the memo.
“Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations,” she intoned, “calling the claims ‘invented’ and saying in a statement to ABC News that, ‘This false smear following a three-year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism.’
“That DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought,” Hostin concluded.
The clip of Hostin choking out the legal disclaimer went viral after it was shared on X by conservative internet personality Collin Rugg, who wrote, “Sunny Hostin fumes as she is forced to read a legal note just minutes after presenting the Matt Gaetz allegations as a ‘fact.’”

Not much to be said about newspapers as a dying concept. This last bit of Peak Activism was kind of a bummer, but the end is in sight regardless.
One thing I don’t see mentioned much is that it’s fairly obvious that a goodly section of the population, let’s say 10%? 20%? can write as well as professional newspaper people, especially if all they do is op-eds.
I’m always struck by that on YouTube. There are so many popular shows out there that are a guy-with-a-camera. There’s no telling who the camera will love and once the business moats got filled in, it turns out that people are pretty good at that. Why on Earth anyone thinks Maddow is worth $25M/yr is beyond me, that’s a whole lotta ad revenue. Of course, next up is increasing dominance of AI-written stories and AI talking heads.
Once again, Bezos loses in the dick-waving contest with Musk. He probably should stick to his online Walmart and computer hosting biz.

You may have noticed that many of the selections for the gathering Donald Trump Cabinet are eliciting reactions ranging from distaste to outright alarm. You may have also noticed conservatives smiling broadly at both the selections and those reactions.
Trump’s picks, as the saying goes, are upsetting the right people. And that doesn’t mean just Democrats. History will record that both Trump presidential victories were fueled by his successful challenges to the establishment layers of both parties. As he gathers his pirate ship filled with a feisty mixture of hand-picked MAGA allies, some dinosaur Republicans are as irate as Kamala Harris voters.

I’m not sure what the ‘whole point’ is, not being a mind reader or meeting attender, etc.
I see the problem though. Most anyone who has high experience in the bureaucracy is likely a member of the hive mind there. If you want to change anything, you need fresh blood…which of course the institutional sharks will immediately home in on. Some of the Trump picks are bound to flame out as they are inadequate to the job (and perhaps anyone is, given the priesthood at that particular department). It might seem righteous to actually dissolve some large federal organizations, but my own guess is that they are more powerful than the Presidency and have been for some time. We’ll see.
In the meantime:

Since people don’t change their minds much, it’s embarrassing for one thing, I have to wonder if there’s some age cohort of insane people who just needs to work their way through the system. I’m afraid that city councils, school boards, corporate HR departments are going to continue to treat us with activist homosexuals, child-mutilation hobbyists, and open-borders zealots for some time. They’ll probably need to age out before things get on an even keel.
