[Argentina just revived its housing and real estate markets by eliminating rent controls.  Most people with a 3-digit IQ know that govt control of rents totally mangles the housing market, constricting supply and reducing the quality of properties already rented.  Yet both our federal and several state governments are proposing rent controls in order "to make housing more affordable" for the financially disadvantaged.  It, of course, does nothing of the sort.  So my question to all of you astute observers of the nation's political goings on is 'Where on the evil-to-butt stupid spectrum do most main street Democrats reside?' gjr]

    The fact that Donald Trump and Republican voters should be outraged goes without saying. The 2024 election terms were torn apart, like Nancy Pelosi did to her copy of Trump’s State of the Union.
    But Democratic voters should also be outraged. Their party elites rigged the primary, so they had no choice other than Joe Biden, only to throw out their votes in favor of someone no one wanted, who’s now picked as her running mate another far-left politician no one knows.
    Even the corporate media should be outraged. They’re expected to carry water for a presidential candidate who is trying to waltz into the highest office in the land without holding live press briefings to face their questions.
    Just who is making decisions on a day-to-day basis that affect Americans’ ability to buy groceries, put gas in their car, or keep their family safe from illegal immigrant criminals taking over whole communities?
    Americans need to remember the colossal dishonesty of the Democratic party to the voting public when they go to the polls, which are now open in some states.”

    Donald Trump’s senior adviser Jason Miller says that under a second Trump presidency, “it’s ‘going to be up to the states’ whether or not they set up regimes to monitor women’s pregnancies so they can prosecute them for getting out of state abortions.”
    During a Wednesday Newsmax interview, the conservative interviewer asked if , “[Trump] would support monitoring pregnancies if a state decided to do that?
    Miller responded that , “Well, he’s made it very clear that he’s not gonna go and weigh in and try to push various states in how they want to go and set up their particular rules and restrictions. That’s gonna be up to the states.”
    So Trump would offer no opposition if States decided to do that.

    Paul. This is dumb. Such a law likely violates the privileges and immunities clause. Further, the federal government is out if the abortion business. Don’t worry though. In California, you can still become a trans woman, rename yourself Paulina, and then get a taxpayer funded abortion at 40 weeks if it becomes necessary.

    More accurately stated, Trump told Time that, as president, he would not prevent states from passing and enforcing laws that establish systems for monitoring womans pregnancies.

    If a state passes a law that some one thinks is unconstitutional, then the issue ends up with the Supreme Court, not the president.

    CNN host Abby Phillip said Tuesday on her network’s coverage of the vice-presidential debate that Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) landed a lot of punches on Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) during the debate.
    Phillip said, “I think we shouldn’t lose track. I think even in the civility of the fact that JD Vance came to this debate to land a bunch of punches, and he did he landed a lot of punches in between all the niceties and all of that. And the thing that that’s really stood out to me was that Tim Walz did not seem prepared for it he didn’t respond to a lot of the criticisms and attacks that vance put on the table. He allowed some clear falsehoods to just go completely unanswered.”
    She continued, “He allowed JD Vance essentially to dodge on a whole host of issues on climate change, on on the issue of his flip flopping on Donald Trump. He allowed Vance initially to claim that Trump salvaged the Affordable Care Act.     print and electronic media who will actually investigate and push back against his lies. In Minnesota it was basically the (Red) Star Tribune and local affiliates of ABC, NBC, PBS, NPR, etc. – who have covered for this far left socialist for quite a while.

    The Biden-Harris administration may have based its decision to freeze certain liquefied natural gas (LNG) export projects upon a major act of deception, according to a government watchdog group.
    The Department of Energy (DOE) announced the pause on new and pending approvals for certain LNG export terminals in January, stating that it must conduct a review of potential environmental, economic and security impacts of LNG exports to ensure that approving new capacity is still in the public interest. An ongoing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) legal battle between the agency and an independent group called Government Accountability and Oversight (GAO) reveals that the administration may have actually conducted — or started to conduct — such a review in 2023 before effectively burying it because it may have been producing politically inconvenient conclusions, according to GAO.
    If GAO is correct, the Biden-Harris administration essentially deceived the public in an election year to institute a policy that undermines American geopolitical interests, chills investment in domestic energy projects and greatly pleases the well-funded environmentalist lobby which is spending big to help Democrats in this election cycle. The DOE did not respond to multiple requests for comment for this story.
