This is a lament.  From his statements and recent – post Tim Walz – behavior it looks to me that Donald Trump has really gone off the rails and is headed for a massive defeat in November.  As the record of these pages confirms and given the available choices, I have been a qualified Trump supporter ever since he became the Republican nominee in 2016.  During the entire time I have been chagrined at his tendency for bombast, bravura, and exaggeration, especially when on the campaign trail.

Today, when finally presented with an ideal pair of very vulnerable opponents, and eight years of experience under his belt in how his off-track shooting from the lip has been received, he still pays no mind to the harm he does to himself and the Republican party by continuing on the same path.  And he is doing it proudly as he has declared to his audiences that he has no intention of changing his gratuitous personal attacks on anyone that happens to cross his mind while on the podium.

So now the country’s conservatives, capitalists, and small government devotees have to suffer through daily doses of free leftwing talking points served up to the lamestream media by Trump.  Their news stories and commentaries almost write themselves from the copy spouted by our former president.  Instead of focusing on the rich trove of Democrats’ lies and policy screw-ups from the Obama and Biden/Harris administrations, Trump continues to be the petulant third grader on the playground focusing on lurid descriptions of his opponents’ real and imagined personal shortcomings.

Perhaps the most worrying aspect of his campaign is that he has no strong adult advisors in his inner circle who can tell him daily when he needs zip his lip.  It’s hard for me to believe he doesn’t have a cadre or even a small clutch of such people in his inner circle.  But it is clear that he is flying blind without the aid of such critical navigators.  Were such people to exist, we would by now have seen them resigning one-by-one as Trump continued to ignore their counsel.

Given this ongoing travail, my own assessment of his probability of winning in November started with a paltry 0.45 and eked up to 0.48 (here) after the assassination attempt.  But taking into account what has happened since, my belief in his chances for regaining the White House has plummeted to 0.22, or a bit more than one in five.  This new assessment accurately represents the dour mood that the Trump campaign has me in.

You can understand why they keep her in the basement –
Kamala Harris goes viral in parody Trump ad after lamenting high prices: ‘This is devastating’
‘We definitely appreciate her honesty,’ the Trump War Room reacted
During her economic policy speech in Raleigh, North Carolina, Harris blamed inflation on the supply chain crisis that occurred during the COVID pandemic, but stressed that “prices are still too high” despite the fact that “our supply chains have improved.”
“A loaf of bread cost 50% more today than it did before the pandemic,” Harris said at one point. “Ground beef is up almost 50%.”
That quote was quickly clipped, with an “I’m Donald Trump and I approve this message” disclaimer added on at the end, cut from an official campaign ad.
It was shared by the popular X account End Wokeness as the “shortest political ad I’ve ever seen” for former President Trump.
Others had some fun at the expense of the Democratic nominee on social media and boasted about how effective the parody ad is for Trump.
“Oh boy. This is devastating,” Fox News contributor Joe Concha reacted.
“This is well done,” Outkick founder Clay Travis said. “Kamala just said in her economics speech that prices were way better when Trump was in office. She’s making ads for Trump now.”
The Trump War Room also lampooned Harris, writing, “We definitely appreciate her honesty.”
The post reached more than 2.5 million views in just a few hours.
Washington Post columnist Catherine Rampell criticized the plan, writing “It’s hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is.”
“If your opponent claims you’re a ‘communist,’ maybe don’t start with an economic agenda that can (accurately) be labeled as federal price controls,” Rampell wrote Thursday.

Looks like no joy today for the gang that cant shoot straight. Think she pissed off the msm by not appearing on their shows. Clearly lost cnn LOL –
CNN host Michael Smerconish said that concerns around the 1995 DUI arrest of Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, are a major issue that the campaign has to confront.
“The DUI story is indefensible,” he said, later asking if Walz was properly vetted by the Harris campaign.
In comments to reporters in 2006, Walz’s campaign for Congress in Minnesota’s 1st District insisted he was “not drunk” and blamed a “misunderstanding” with police on “Walz’s deafness,” which his then-campaign manager said had since been “surgically corrected.”
“I don’t buy it,” Smerconish said, pushing back on claims that Walz’s DUI was related to his “hearing disability.”
“In the end, it’s going to be about the top of the ticket. But to me, the DUI is bigger than the stolen valor allegation, not because of the drinking but because of the lie,” he said.
“Maybe this is as a result of the expedited nature of her ascendancy as a candidate,” Smerconish said of the Harris’ campaign vetting of the Minnesota governor. “But it makes me wonder how much they really knew about it.”
While Walz has represented during campaigns that his DUI was related to his “deafness,” a state trooper’s report obtained by Alpha News contradicts those claims.
“A strong odor of alcoholic beverage was detected emitting from Mr. Walz[‘s] breath and person,” the report said. The trooper indicated that Walz submitted to and failed both a field sobriety test and a preliminary breath

My take is that a decision was made to run the Harris campaign as a TV situation comedy.
Her only public appearance will be tightly scripted teleprompter reading, there’ll be no hard questioning, no ad lib talky talk.
What there will be is a series of ‘joyful’ friendly funny set piece things set up like TV. The VP candidate will be the stupid neighbor down the hall, Kamala as the wise POC winking at the camera. Cue laugh track. Skip to commercial.
Hey, if it works it works. The inertia of Grift Nation is fairly obvious, and I honestly don’t know if it makes any difference who gets the job at this point.
One variation of Conquest’s Third Law, “The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies.” is that when bureaucrats take over an organization, they operate in their own self-interests. The result is disaster for customers, suppliers, taxpayers, citizens, but that is no matter. The smart money is slicing off a piece of that pie and then running for the hills.

You had no experience with Trump after he was elected/inaugurated but you didn’t let that stop you….
He crashed the economy and ran up nearly 8 trillion in debt and that is fact.
No he didn’t …COVID did and you know it. But you’re such a partisan liar you have to continue. No point in quitting now….

President Trump approved $8.4 trillion of new ten-year borrowing during his full term in office, or $4.8 trillion excluding the CARES Act and other COVID relief.
President Biden, in his first three years and five months in office, approved $4.3 trillion of new ten-year borrowing, or $2.2 trillion excluding the American Rescue Plan.
President Trump approved $8.8 trillion of gross new borrowing and $443 billion of deficit reduction during his full presidential term.
President Biden has so far approved $6.2 trillion of gross new borrowing and $1.9 trillion of deficit reduction.

Since Biden’s cash burn rate is now around 1 cool trillion every hundred days he’ll be around 8.2 trillion by the time his bony old carcass is given the Bum’s Rush in January. Again ….you are perfectly fine with debt and deficits as long as “your guy” is doing the spending.
Also He failed to pull us out of Afghanistan as he promised just as he promised to build the wall and it be paid for by Mexice. I can go on and on. That’s just a start.
Yes but he made such a clumsy and stupid Emery like job of it he left the Taliban as the third largest military in the region….with all the accompanying terrorism for the next 50 years. All because the senile dimwit had to be out by a certain ceremonial date.

Consider that the deficit when Trump was in office happened during a time when the country pretty much stopped producing value. And it was despite Trump urging the schools to re-open and for folks to get back to work. Something Trump had zero legal power over.
Biden’s similar amount of debt has happened during a time of what we are told is the greatest economy ever.
    Let that sink in.
The debt-bomb fuse was lit decades ago and despite repeated warnings, neither party seems inclined to do much about it. But it provides something for both sides to yell about every 4 years.

    Tru dat –
Ms Harris is evidently not a moderate Democrat in the Bill Clinton mould. She is far to the Left of that, expressing support for faddish new concepts such as “equity” – a modern reinterpretation of the old socialist equality of outcome. She has been weak on other issues, too, such as the conflict in Gaza, perhaps concerned about retaining the support of “progressive” anti-Israel voters in swing states.
The United States simply cannot afford its next president to pursue an economically illiterate Left-wing agenda, built on the fallacy that prices are high because of corporate greed or that the state has the capacity to run the economy without crashing it. Free markets are not the cause of America’s problems. They are the solution to them.

Don “Socialism is no solution for America’s problems”
Yet we are very socialistic. Medicare and Social Security are total socialism.
And are the leading financial ruin of our nation.
Maybe the headline should be “more of what ails us will not make us better”.
I can’t remember who it was that wrote years ago that a friend from France told him that America was a socialistic country that just didn’t tax the citizens like a socialistic country. Instead – we run up debt beyond our ability to pay. The “tax” comes in other forms such as higher costs for covering govt debt and inflation to make the existing debt somewhat cheaper to pay back.
Always remember that the govt never wants the actual cost of your house to be less – just “more affordable”. And yes, there is a difference. If it costs less, then the govt gets less prop tax money. The govt only wants your income to go up so it can get more tax dollars from you. Why do you think the govt wants both the husband and wife to have to work? More tax money. And the govt always wants as much inflation as it can push on the public because that only helps the govt. I have seen actual articles lately claiming that inflation is good for retired people.
