Were we to discuss really serious topics beyond Trump’s trials and Biden’s lies, I can think of one no more important than that brought up by Victor Davis Hanson in a recent interview (here).  We have extensively covered the various national and geo-strategic factors that portend to end America’s run as the world’s leading democratic republic, economy, and white hat world hegemon.  However, most of our neighbors neither care nor are aware of what’s happening.  As witnessed on these pages, if anything, they are more interested in Stormy Daniel’s testimony and various topical policy atrocities launched by our doddering idiot for president and Democrats at all levels of government (especially California).

This is not to say that there is no traction to the warnings issued by our more thoughtful political leaders and commentators (e.g. here) – so far, a sparsely populated bunch.  Today more people are starting to take notice that there is now in the offing a likely “extinction” of the United States we have known.  Letter writers (here) to serious publications like the WSJ acknowledge the current deterioration of America’s defense posture and industrial might, and are showing concern.

Material arguments summarize as follows –

  • The US industrial base to make things from ships to medicines to machine tools is essentially gone.
  • Our military is tragically under-manned and woke-corrupted with traditional cadres of enlistees no longer willing to join, let alone make military their career. Our country can no longer find enough people willing to fight for it.
  • Our unimaginable national debt and reckless social spending programs are destroying the dollar and unseating it as the preferred currency for international commerce.
  • Our open borders and illegal alien import policies are destroying the remnants of America’s public cultural cohesion with new levels of unassimilating multi-culturality never before witnessed in a sustainable and geographically compact jurisdiction.
  • Our traditional allies in Europe and Asia are aware of America’s weak (non-existent?) leadership and feckless foreign policy, and are seeking alternative geo-strategic relationships that serve their national interests.
  • Our electorate is split and largely ignorant of the issues facing the nation; and are in no shape to unify and support reasonably coherent policies to attempt a return to a usefully educated, economically healthy, fiscally sound, geographically secure, and culturally unified sovereign nation-state. Over half of us don’t care and want an autocratic global government run by elites, and the remainder want to return to a liberal constitutional government based on free-market capitalism.
  • By passing laws, regulations, and prohibitive tax rates in a transforming neo-Marxist society, we no longer educate a sufficient cadre of high-end (STEM) workers with needed skillsets or provide them the means to produce wealth in an open-market capitalist economy.

So instead –

By the time you factor in the extra cost (all money has a carbon footprint), the total life-cycle CO2 output of the vehicles, and the recycling of the batteries – there is no reduction.
The promised increase of CO2 from India and China alone completely wipe out any projected reduction from Europe and the US.
Mandated electric vehicles are an economic disaster. Ask Ford and GM.

“This is an example of Bayes Theorem in action.”
“These additional facts put the upside-down flag in a different light. As a general matter, perhaps we might have thought that Martha-Ann Alito did not know its meaning. But when the flag is flown in direct response to anti-Trump attacks and specifically linked to January 6th, the probabilities shift significantly. It strains credulity to suppose that she did not know she was using a pro-Trump symbol when she was responding to an anti-Trump assault—indeed, given the additional facts we now have, we are more likely to think that she almost certainly chose the symbol precisely because she did know its meaning and wanted to invoke it in response. Knowing the context changes the probability.
It is generous of Martha-Ann Alito’s defenders to posit that she might have been ignorant of what she was saying. But like Monty Hall’s contestant, in light of the additional facts provided by the context of her actions, they would be wise to change their choice.”

Real MAGA 0117pm – Upside down flag as “an insurrectionist symbol”? Not at all. Old Glory flown upside down has always been a call for help or assistance. Moreover, “the U.S. flag code, which is not legally enforceable, specifically says that the flag is not to be inverted “except as a signal of dire distress in instance of extreme danger to life or property.” Such display of the flag had NOTHING to do with insurrection, but had everything to do with Ms Alito’s desire to express her dire distress about the unwarranted attacks her candidate was the target of by the nation’s leftwing cadres. It is only our Left, indoctrinating the ignorant and imbecilic, that has attributed these new anti-Trump meanings to the inverted flag.
And the reference to the Monty Hall problem illustrates that the author at best has a very rudimentary understanding of Bayes, and no understanding at all about the disconnect between Monty Hall and the intent of the flag display.

Lerch committed treason sucking up to those mutha mullahs –
But Grassley and Johnson received unclassified and legally protected whistleblower disclosures which they say show that “while the Obama-Biden administration publicly committed to ‘preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons by raising the cost of Iran’s defiance of the international community,’ then-Secretary of State John Kerry actively interfered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation executing arrest warrants on individuals in the U.S. illegally supporting Iranian efforts, including financial efforts, to develop weapons of mass destruction and its ballistic missile program.”
The records, according to the senators, show that the Justice Department and FBI leadership, including then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and then-FBI Director James Comey “failed to take the necessary steps to stop Kerry’s obstructive efforts against law enforcement.”
One email — an unclassified FBI email from August 25, 2017 — detailed at least eight instances connected to the Iran nuclear deal where “the FBI/DOJ/USG could have moved forward with the cases but the State Department chose to block them.”
According to the records, in six of these instances, the FBI “lost the opportunity to arrest the main subject.”
The email says that one of the subjects the FBI was unable to arrest was “on the Terrorism Watch List” and another “returned to Iran.”
The email further says that the State Department “blocked” one planned FBI arrest while the subject was “mid-flight and the subject was forced to leave the US immediately upon arrival.”
The email also claims at least two targets were arrested only after “State lifted their block…since the new [Trump] Administration took office.”

The feds wouldn’t even prosecute Trump for this crap and the statute of limitations ran out on the other charges. The DA is just throwing mud against the wall and draging Trump through the trial during a campaign season and hopes he can get a jury of Trump haters to convict. If he does it absolutely will be thrown out on appeal – but that won’t take place till after the election. How convenient.

File this under “the end is near”.
Drudge is running plenty of scare headlines this morning. This one is hilarious:
“Power use in Texas was on track to break the record for the month of May for a second time this week on Friday and could top that again over the Memorial Day weekend as homes and businesses crank up their air conditioners to escape a heat wave.”
Forecast shows absolutely normal weather for the end of May in the DFW area. Texas has a “heat wave” starting in May and it goes through October every year. Since the population has been booming for a while and they do sell e-cars there then of course they will break records for electricity use.
    DUH.
Now lets add millions of illegals and everyone in e-cars as the Dems want and then what will happen to the use of electricity?
    Oh, no! MORE records broken!

Did you read the article that I referenced?
Here is the first part of the article. Perhaps you can enlighten us to the errors the author makes.
“FOR THOSE UNFAMILIAR with the premise of the game: A contestant is confronted with three concealed choices, one of which is a winning choice (e.g., a car) and the other two of which are losing choices (e.g., a donkey). The contestant randomly chooses one of the possibilities—“I’ll take door number one, Monty.” At that point, Monty Hall, who knows where the good prize is hidden, opens one of the two unchosen doors to reveal a donkey and asks the contestant if he wants to change his choice. Most do not, but the mathematically correct answer is that you should change.
This is an example of Bayes Theorem in action. Named after Thomas Bayes, an eighteenth-century mathematician and philosopher, the theorem is based on the realization that the probability of an event occurring can be calculated based on one’s prior knowledge of conditions that might be related to the event. In a vacuum of information, we might, for example, predict a person’s life expectancy based on the average for all Americans alive today. But if we add in other known factors—the person’s age, gender, etc.—our statistical model changes. In short, Bayes Theorem is the idea that probabilities change the more information you have and that you should take new information into account and reassess your probabilities based on that information.
That’s what is happening to Monty Hall’s contestant. The guest now has more information—that one specific door did not have and never had the car behind it. That new information changes the odds substantially. And if you work it out, his best result is to change his choice and pick the other door. It’s not a guaranteed win, but changing increases his odds substantially.
Here’s another example: Some time ago I had a neighbor who was a quiet, slightly nerdy sort. In the vacuum of information about him beyond our everyday interactions, I’d never have thought of him as a criminal. But one day the FBI raided his house. And that one piece of information changed the probabilities—given his nerdy nature plus the fact of an FBI investigation, I was pretty confident in supposing he was under suspicion for some sort of computer-related criminal act. It turned out that was the case. New information changed the probabilities.”

Another “the end is near” story. Apparently a large chunk of the population is gliding into retirement with only enough monthly income for an SS-funded flop house sort of existence and not the easy street of life on the fairway or shuffle board on an ocean cruise.
The howler is that the crux of this particular article is that poor Larry Fink isn’t getting a large enough stream of dough into his investment funds.
The solution proffered is a fed govt mandated money grab out of folks’ paychecks. Of course that doesn’t mean it will necessarily all go to BlackRock – but just maybe there will be an uptick of available funds for the financial monster.
We are told that “capitalists” will be for this sort of plan, but they kinda left out the free market prefix.
And of course this is to “help” the average American who would other wise fritter his money away on mortgage payments and food and gasoline and what not.
