    No.
In any case that’s not why I watched the 30 second “Star Hustler” blurbs late Saturday nights after Creature Features. And even though Horkheimer’s estate disputes the accusation, if it’s true, Jack still did far less damage to society than the Frankfurt School.

Wow!!! Direct quote from Rebanes Ruminates choice from President Donald Trump. If this isn’t a threat what is!
In Trumps own words in Truth Social:
“If a President does not have Immunity, the Opposing Party, during his/her term in Office, can extort and blackmail the President by saying that, ‘if you don’t give us everything we want, we will Indict you for things you did while in Office,’ even if everything done was totally Legal and Appropriate,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“Obama, Bush, and soon, Crooked Joe Biden, would all be in BIG TROUBLE. If a President doesn’t have IMMUNITY, he/she will be nothing more than a ‘Ceremonial’ President, rarely having the courage to do what has to be done for our Country,” the former president added. “This is not what the Founders had in mind! Protect Presidential Immunity. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Scott 1033pm – You make an important point. The Left suffers cultural blindness and sees none of the artifacts of their policies which have degraded the country and are now driving it to complete destruction. Neither did the Russians, Italians, Germans, Chinese, Cubans, Venezuelans, and Vietnamese. These are all political role models for the Democratic party.

Boy – how the left has changed:
“The Pentagon could get weapons moving to Ukraine within days once the Senate passes a long-delayed aid bill. That’s because it has a network of storage sites in the U.S. and Europe that already hold the ammunition and air defense components that Kyiv desperately needs.
Moving fast is critical, CIA Director Bill Burns said this past week, warning that without additional aid from the U.S., Ukraine could lose the war to Russia by the end of this year.”
Yeah – as opposed to losing later on.
First – a shit load more Russians and Ukrainians need to die.

I see that J. Kunstler is on fire this last Friday.
” Before the saints come marching in, the human archetypes strut down the avenue in their revealing regalia. Do you know why the archetypal batshit crazy women of the Democratic Party adore “Joe Biden?” I’ll tell you: because he represents perfectly and exactly the “patriarchy” they revile in his floridly comic senescence. “Joe Biden” is the patriarchy disabled, feeble, feckless, impotent, and reduced to inanity. He would be pitiful if the patriarchy itself were not so contemptible. This is exactly how the batshit crazy women want it to look.
    ….etc.”

They are so cloisted. LOL –
“She’s a ‘Portlandia’ character,” Maher quipped. “She says things like ‘I mean, sure, looting is counterproductive. But it’s founded on treating people’s ancestors as private property.’ I mean, c’mon man. A long time ago. She says ‘I suffer with cis-White mobility privilege.’ I mean it’s kind of White woman who says she’s Beyoncé’s spirit animal.”
The HBO host later pivoted to how Berliner’s essay noted subgroups within NPR like “MGIPOC” (Marginalized Genders and Intersex People of Color), “Mi Gente” for “Latinx” employees, “NPR Noir” for Black employees and “Ummah” for Muslim employees.
“Come on,” Maher reacted. “Trump divides us, yes he does, But you’re doing it too. Why do you need to do this?”
“They’re protesting for terrorists, okay? I think this is a result of the kind of stuff that flows down from places like NPR and colleges,” Maher said.

It seems perfectly possible to me. It isn’t like most classical Western philosophy systems are steeped in religion and the Soviets had their own system in modern times.
If by ‘religion’, a person means some variant of Abrahamic beliefs, I’ve always wondered why they were so wildly successful. Maybe it’s the built-in iconoclasm.

scotto: “Biden Calls for 44.6% Capital Gains Tax Rate,”
Typical election year raw meat for his constituency. Given who funds the DNC, the likelihood of that happening is right around 0% I’d say.
I wonder if I could find what the real capital gains tax rate is right now if you (rightfully) include inflation as a form of tax on assets.

It will be interesting to see where this leads. An officer in the military openly calling out higher ups as liars. In public. Under oath. In a public hearing. And he’s a lawyer as well as an officer. Oh well, there’s just no telling what the economic realities of solar are. The minute you have some sort of gubmint subsidies/regulations/mandates the ability to tell what the what is disappears.
I’m all for PG&E or SCE putting up a solar farm somewhere if it’s cheaper than other sources. Naturally, this needs to include the complete cost of infrastructure, storage (ya got enough battery for a week or two or three?), total cost of ownership. I can’t help but think that a lot of these big deal ‘lectric decisions are made via feelz rather than practical reality. For one thing, it’s impossible to get around the fact that you need to handle 100% of peak load for some time with no renewables.
Bummer that Crazy Wine Karens have taken over from the free market for basic services like power and heat. OTOH, high speed rail from Stockton to Barstow might be in the offing.

  36. scenes Avatar

    …as a side note.
My guess is that the way the Wine Karens handle the peak load (and generally shittier uptime) issue going forward is not to build capacity into the grid, but to do wondrous things like centralized control of residential and commercial HVAC, home-based storage, grid-tied EVs, huge differences in time-based rates, and any other way they can think of to push the problem onto consumers.
I can just imagine the Big Knob they’ll have at PG&E HQ where they turn all the ‘smart’ homes’ A/C up to 80 degrees.
    It’s for the children.
Like anything involving modern ‘progressives’, the best answer will tend to be to disassociate yourself from the dysfunction. When you get down to it, home schooling, local trade, self-employment, self-sufficiency, booting MSM to the curb, etc. all have similar root problems driving them. It’s like Ulysses with his oar, walk until you find a land where they’ve never heard of people like Sam Brinton. That land might be your current home.

“This week, David Pecker testified in Donald Trump’s criminal trial. Pecker was the longtime publisher of the National Enquirer, America’s foremost supermarket tabloid. Over the course of 2015 and 2016, the Enquirer became politically active on behalf of Trump, first in the Republican presidential primary and then in the general election campaign.
    Now we know why.
Pecker—who had been friendly with Trump for decades—made an agreement with Trump’s fixer, Michael Cohen, in August 2015. By the terms of the agreement, Pecker would use the Enquirer to run stories helpful to Trump’s campaign and kill stories that might hurt Trump.
There is a great deal to say about this arrangement because it is entirely new in modern American politics. Trump and Pecker chose to turn an existing media property into an actual propaganda arm of the campaign—taking direction directly from Trump’s consigliere.
And they did so under the cover of night. Say what you will about Pravda and the Daily Worker—at least they acknowledged that they were wholly owned subsidiaries of the Communist Party.
The National Enquirer pretended that it was on the level—just a normal tabloid doing normal tabloid stuff.
In taking in the testimony of David Pecker, it is tempting to say that he was the Joseph Goebbels of the MAGA movement, but that’s not quite right. Pecker is much closer to Dietrich Eckart.”
