[Been contemplating soliciting reader submissions of the most stupid and/or unreasonable thing that prominent leaders/spokespeople for the Republicans and Democrats have done during a given week. Candidates would NOT include some dumb thing someone in the party’s fringe has said or done. I’m talking about nationally recognized people and proposed/passed public policies. An example candidate would be CA’s $20/hr minimum wage law, or Biden’s national security adviser telling the country that Biden’s threat to withhold aid to Israel (if they don’t clear their operational war plans with Washington first) does not represent a change in US policy toward Israel. Such examples would serve to confirm that there is no common ground between our two sides to begin a path to rapprochement. gjr]

“Safe and Unified Nevada County (SUN) is a subcommittee of The Equity & Inclusion Leadership Alliance (EILA) which consists of representatives from the Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) Coalition, county, and municipal departments, law enforcement, the judicial system, healthcare, faith-based groups, education, the arts, the social justice non-profit Color Me Human and other vital organizations.”
This has been congealing for a few years, and Color Me Human is a leisure activity of a person who retired here on a state public employee pension a couple years ago, one Darryl Grigsby.
I recall in The Union that he referred to Thomas Jefferson as a child rapist once or twice.

re Juanita 1049am – That presumes that all that intervention will be required to restore or maintain the quality of Nevada County life – of which there is no evidence. So it’s another leftwing oriented coalition that sooner or later will find more intrusive regulations to be passed by local and state politicians in the attempt to restrict and redirect our lives. Such socialists will never stay out of your business or wallets.

A couple quotes from my list of aphorisms-
Walter Williams (7/14/17) – The job of tyrants and busybodies is never done.
Thomas Sowell – 8/6/13 – Our schools and colleges are turning out people who cannot feel fulfilled unless they are telling other people what to do. Whether in housing, education or innumerable other aspects of life, the key to busybody politics, and its endlessly imposed “solutions,” is that third parties pay no price for being wrong.
So how can we make those busybodies pay a price, a real physical/monetary price, a humiliating price, to change their behavior? Unfortunately, can’t be done. There is no shame in Mudville for those folks. Look no farther than Hamas. They have to be annihilated, yet all the world seems to be telling Israel to come to terms. Chuck the Hammer did his part many years ago, but no one else has been stepping up to the plate recently, not even Casey at the bat.

Generally, I could probably be convinced of the rightness of either side’s cause given a good argument. Like Ukraine, it could simply be the problem is that no one is dominant enough to utterly dictate terms, so conflict grinds on to the detriment of the man on the ground. I’ve heard different reasons for why that longitude of the Earth, from Estonia to Suez, is so conflict ridden. Peace seems to break out when a disinterested imperial power moves in, Byzantine or Ottomans or Russian, but assimilation never seems permanent. Go figure. Best to not get involved at all.

Side note: Excellent cartoon by RL Crabb in The Union (Saturday).
When people unironically use the word ‘stakeholder’, you just know that bullshit is in the offing. It was a sad time when city councils came to be dominated by ‘activists’ instead of prominent local business dudes, but it’s just the nature of the age.
I figure that the future will either be Robot Overlords or bartering matches and cigarettes for fish antibiotics, so it’s all a temporary state of affairs.

Pretty sure “brainiac” was used sarcastically. It’s the only way I ever hear it used. I thought about that term and wondered if it had anything to do with ENIAC. Although Wiktionary claims it does, I think the other citations are correct. From the Superman comics 1957/58 a new arch-enemy was created with the name Brainiac which was a combo of ‘brain’ and ‘maniac’.
Newsom is a low IQ glib-talking oily used-car salesman who appeals to low information voters.

You know, it wasn’t that irritating when it was just about how much tax money was spent on the poor and the occasional foray into abortion law (an interesting question, when does a human develop enough to acquire rights from the state?). Now that Team Blue has veered into the territory of actively tearing down Western Civilization, it all got a lot more serious.

Here’s this morning’s article from Politico for the masses to ingest:
“The 401(k) industry owns Congress’: How lawmakers quietly passed a $300 billion windfall to the wealthy”
You can tell right off it’s a total pile of horse manure –
“Five months before Congress faced a near-catastrophic standoff over the debt ceiling, with Republicans demanding restrictions to food and Medicaid programs to rein in spending, a bill that raised the cost of private retirement savings accounts to $282 billion per year was quietly signed into law.”
Of course the problems of our fed govt’s inability to live within its means has nothing to do with folks trying to save for retirement, but we need to preface the paragraph with that scare-fact to set the tone.
And notice – “…quietly signed into law”.
That would be President Potato, but somehow the author after all of his research was unable to ever uncover that fact. The rest of the screed is Marxism For Dummies 101.
Gee – the productive and industrious people are doing better than the unproductive and undisciplined people. Awk! Awk! Not fair!

Ah well. There’s a whole lotta money just sittin’ there not doing good deeds.
I figure it’s just the osmosis of money. The Little Red Hen bakes bread, all the other animals would sure like some. Inflation, asset taxes, or merely pooling public and private retirement savings will move the money to where it’s ‘needed’ as you’d sure hate for everyone to not get their ‘fair share’.
As the precipice creeps closer, a person could argue that asset protection will be a growth industry.

writer of the secret never-to-be-revealed evil hate letter: who knows? No doubt, for the good of the people, the editorial writer is busy trying to figure out who it is in order that public shaming and loss of job is in the offing.
