Here is an example of gross ignorance that begets the evil in our land.  This letter to the editor by a rabid leftwinger in the 6dec23 Union illustrates the historical gulf that separates us into two nations with irreconcilable ideologies.  The correspondent does not make a single assertion that speaks truth – where/when did Trump do anything that he claims?  And he is joined by tens of millions of like- and no-minded Americans.

&&&&&&

Let’s refresh our memories on what Trump said last week in a speech:  “We pledge to you that we will root out the Communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical-left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country—that lie and steal and cheat on elections. They’ll do anything, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America and to destroy the American dream. The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave than the threat from within. Our threat is from within.”

We will never vote for Trump because he and his MAGA extremists want to dump American democracy, dump “We-the-People” pluralism, and replace it with white Christian nationalism implemented by their authoritarian cult leader. It's dangerous and un-American.

Trump’s disastrous presidency can be summarized with these 9 acts:

  • passing huge wealthy and corporate tax cuts (pushing us 8 trillion $ further in debt),
  • separating children from their parents at the border,
  • basically ignoring covid,
  • appointing unqualified ideologues to the Supreme Court and lower benches,
  • damaging our global alliances, especially with NATO,
  • promoting hatred against minorities, especially Blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, LGTBQ,
  • attacking democracy through gerrymandering and suppressing votes,
  • attacking women’s reproductive freedoms, and
  • promoting an insurrection on January 6.

Will our election be safe from the GOP’s cheating and intimidation? Will Trump’s 91 felony counts assure us his dictatorial ambitions will not come to light?

Voters' memories will need to be refreshed.

Fishy, I’ve already made it clear to Paul several times I wouldn’t vote for Trump in a primary if I were an R and I have never given Trump a dime nor will I ever. He’s been told all of this many times and yet he continues his stupid lies unabated.
As far as expecting him to abide by any sort of standards – you’ve got to be kidding me!
Paul’s quite up to date as he’s a Post-Modernist whereby everything is situational.
His standard of proof is whatever he assumes or considers to be “obvious”.
The standard he requires of you varies according whatever proof you offer. The goalposts are always moved so that whatever proof you offer, it will never be acceptable.
The man is a stupid, sick, lying clown.
But his posts are important as he represents the sort of idiot that continues to vote for the destruction of our nation.
It’s always good to keep tabs on your enemy.

Post-Modernists analyze everything human in terms of relative power.
Might be a boon to someone who has scraped together a living singing popular songs.
On a related note, I just ran across this, hot off the presses, a fellow has concluded libertarians are actually authoritarians and has identified the libertarian-authoritarian personality type:
    https://www.newstatesman.com/ideas/2023/12/new-authoritarian-personality
Note Theodor Adorno, who is the fellow who set in leftist stone that authoritarians were inherently right wing, was a principal in the Frankfurt School, is cited up top. And Max Horkheimer is also cited, also a principal in the Frankfurt School. The piece goes out of the way to show there is a new scourge afoot, libertarian extreme right wing authoritarians like Elon Musk, Peter Theil and the Argentine President-ELect Milei are rampant among us.
The author of the New Statesman piece, Oliver Nachtwey, is a current member of the Frankfurt School, the Institute for Social Research. Marxist social research. Surprise, surprise, surprise.

It’s confusing Scott. You are such a Trump supporter in everything he does and wishes to do in the future yet you don’t support him financially. Never once have you or Gregory ever spoken out against him. Gregory believes all 91 criminal indictments are fake as are the civil cases and the 25 woman who claim he sexually assaulted them and you do as well. Can you explain that to RR readers?

I’ve spoken out against Punchy’s bullshite.
I don’t think I’ve used “fake” to describe the lawfare against Trump but it doesn’t fit too badly… it is politically motivated. The “25 women” apparently didn’t take him to court, and one that did, winning big in NYC, didn’t even know what year the dastardly deed was done to her. J’accuse.
Paul is not facing a good year.

It’s not enough that CA now has a $68B deficit – it turns out that when they had the money to easily pay back the unemployment insurance money owed to the feds, they blew it instead on vote buying. Now, the businesses in CA face ever increasing raises in taxes so CA can make minimum payments to the feds. Isn’t higher costs and taxes one of the big reasons businesses and citizens leave that place? And the fact that so many middle class and higher earners as well as businesses have left is a major reason the state govt faces a record deficit. This is leading to a self-feeding negative monetary cycle.

Note: article was from May of this year – so probably no money to help small businesses.
BTW – how’s that High Speed Choo Choo Train coming along? You know – the “Brown Streak”?
Any feedback from the satisfied riders going from SF to LA in 2 1/2 hours?

Once again Gregory confirms my contention that he believes Trump is innocent on all charges and was unjustly arrested and it was all a plot organized by the left. Gregory. have you examined all 91 indictments in your search for truth? I am not contending he is guilty. That’s why we have trials but you don’t believe in that unless it’s for someone you support.
Read this if you haven’t already done so to see the actual evidence that was a basis for these indictments.

Items including a half gallon of milk, a half gallon of orange juice, a TV dinner, bread, frozen mac and cheese, laundry detergent, cling wrap, toilet paper, a pack of army men and dryer sheets cost the character, played by Macaulay Culkin, $19.83.

Don – the party line is that inflation is caused by greedy companies unnecessarily raising their prices.
They’ve got Biden propped up there claiming “inflation is down”.
That would actually be deflation but with a nation 1/2 composed of idiots like Lonely Juanita and Paul they can get away with such BS.
The next time you hear a govt official decrying companies “jacking up prices” ask yourself if then it would be morally wrong for the govt to accept the extra tax money from the profits of such claimed ill-gotten loot.

    “Ignorance Meets Evil”
The title of this post by George pretty well sums up our nation’s response to Russia invading Ukraine. Since I remember things, I recall all the Dems that thought Putin was so cute. Remember Obama scoffing at the notion that Russia was a threat? And Hillary with her “reset” red button?
Actual military men who aren’t allowed to lead our troops any more have warned this about the war since it started:
“Ukraine cracks down on draft-dodging as it struggles to find troops”
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/ukraine-cracks-down-on-draft-dodging-as-it-struggles-to-find-troops/ar-AA1lboL2
Russia has the overwhelming edge in manpower and can put way more men into the meat grinder than Ukraine. The frightening talk I hear is from idiots in our country that say “we can’t let Russia win this war”.
    Yeah – about that.
    Good luck.

Along with making more Ukrainians, we would need to give the newest Ukrainians time to get to cannon-fodder age. So, perhaps a truce can be called for perhaps 20 years to allow them to age out of their childhood.
This is why you don’t start a war without ammo and cannon-fodder at the ready.

On Ytube on the right side at the top lately I see ads for “meet single Ukrainian women”.
The war must be draining their economy – the poor things can’t afford enough clothing to cover their assets. But if I volunteered to “do my bit for the war” that would only produce half breed Ukrainians. And my wife would probably object.
Best quote about the war is that the US is playing a game of “Let’s you and him fight”.
What a sad destruction of human life all around.

This is what we have to look forward to if Trump becomes President. Putin must be cheering him on.
“I don’t give a shit about NATO.” Thus did former President Donald Trump once express his feelings about America’s oldest and strongest military alliance. Not that this statement, made in the presence of John Bolton, the national security adviser at the time, came as a surprise. Long before he was a political candidate, Trump questioned the value of American alliances. Of Europeans, he once wrote that “their conflicts are not worth American lives. Pulling back from Europe would save this country millions of dollars annually.”
