[According to recent surveys 49% of Americans find socialism to be an acceptable way to organize society, including the United States. The nation’s Left, led by the patently corrupt Democratic Party, has taken over our country’s educational institutions. With the advent of woke, DEI, critical race theory, and other harbingers of neo-Marxism, there is no more effective resistance in the land against an advancing collectivist tyranny. The Right’s opposition, led by the Republican Party, consists of toothless self-satisfied organizations happy to repeat the same pabulum commentaries to their shrinking flocks. gjr]

Another reason I and thousands of others have left the once great state:
Newsom announces $32 billion budget deficit in California a year’ after $97 billion surplus
Best quote:
“We have a $31.5 billion challenge, which is well within the margin of expectation and well within our capacity to address,” Newsom said Friday.”
“margin of expectation”? Newsom expected a nearly $130 billion swing? Over a third of the entire budget?
Part of the ‘fix’ is borrowing. Sure – I hear the rates are a bit up right now, but go for it. And don’t forget you invited anyone from all over the world to come to CA to live. And all the teenagers that want you to pay for travel and cosmetic butchery. And how about reparations? And all the unhoused you were going to house and don’t forget all the free charging stations and the little tiny problem of not enough electricity.
Good times!

Between entitlements and debt service, you are pretty much screwed with those alone. Thus my notion early on that growth is the only way out (or inflationary collapse). Sadly, a lot of Team Blue’s overarching notions on how to run things don’t look to be economy growers, although there’s always handwaving about solar. If solar were growing organically (ie. as it becomes cheaper than alternatives) I’d buy the notion, but legislating it simply implies costs.
I always laughed at the idea, which I’ve heard numerous times (just like all the other arguments on all this stuff), that you simply import people to grow the economy to pay for the old people. Naturally, this ignores the fact that those people need to be supported too. The worst kind of Ponzi scheme is a population Ponzi scheme.

All of my ancestors that I can trace arrived circa 1870 – 1900. There was the option of free land for some. Otherwise there was nothing beyond “git to work”.
The flood of poor immigrants in the mid to late 1800s was perfect timing with the industrial revolution. What the flood of poor immigrants now will be good for beyond voting Dem is a mystery. Between automation and AI, there is little for them to do.
I suppose the military and police can lower their standards to fogging a mirror. And criminal gangs usually have openings for young bangers. If the teens are physically somewhat attractive, opportunities exist in most big cities on street corners.
There is the under-the-table type of employment, but with the coming of mandatory e-cash, the situation will be vastly different.

So much for the ponytail of ignorance’s 51 intelligence signers of the BIG LIE letter –
EXCLUSIVE: A former top intelligence officer with oversight of threats ahead of the 2020 election said the Central Intelligence Agency had “no evidence” at the time that Hunter Biden’s laptop had anything to do with a Russian disinformation campaign, despite claims from then-candidate Joe Biden’s allies.
Just before the election, 51 former national security officials wrote a public letter claiming the Hunter Biden laptop had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” It was signed by former President Obama CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA director and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, among others.
However, in an interview with Fox News Digital, former National Intelligence Officer for Cyber Chris Porter said that claims from Biden’s supporters “did not reflect” the actual intelligence.

As Harry Reid famously said after it was discovered he had openly smeared Romney with a deliberate lie – “Romney didn’t win, did he?”
Reid said he was proud of what he had done.

“Conservatives are more likely to be patriotic and religious,” he wrote. “They are more likely to be (happily) married and less likely to divorce. Religiosity, in turn, correlates with greater subjective and objective well-being. So does patriotism. So does marriage.”
Consequently, “conservatism itself would be largely incidental to the happiness gap,” he added. So “A liberal who was similarly religious, or patriotic, or had a similarly happy marriage, would be expected to have similar levels of happiness as conservative peers.”
“Progressive institutional leaders have specifically taught young progressives that catastrophizing is a good way to get what they want,” he added.
New York Times Opinion Columnist David Brooks argued that “many on the left began to suffer from what you might call maladaptive sadness,” with its three main features being a “catastrophizing mentality,” “extreme sensitivity to harm” and a “culture of denunciation.”
“For many, America’s problems came to seem endemic: The American dream is a sham, climate change is so unstoppable, systemic racism is eternal,” he wrote. “Making catastrophic pronouncements became a way to display that you were woke to the brutalities of American life.”

I’d say that it’s natural to assume that sociologists are charlatans. You take a small survey of self-reported behavior, wrap it in a bit of barely-unstood-by-the-researchers statistics talk, and then look for correlations that match your own bias.
Up next is riffing by political writers.
It’s crazy making. Honest people would simply report the results. Aggregate results look to nicely follow an inflection of the use of the internet on cell phones, but who knows? You actually have to design decent research to figger that one out. Maybe Skynet can work it all out.

Lately he’s viewing that world as a zombie apocalypse, with staying away from zombies the Prime Directive.
I was musing this morning about whether a zombie-only society would become happy (ie. progressives only) or break down into subgroups of zombie. Is there something intrinsically different about the ‘modern’ (post French Revolution, say) left?
It made me think about the Soviet moon program. Three separate ‘companies’, all competing with each other. Pretty successful, but not nearly as successful as the US government single monopoly of the Apollo program. What’s the difference? I can’t see that working for Lockheed Martin is much different than the Department of Defense or NASA (outside comments welcome on that one). James Harford wrote a decent book on Sergei Korolev explaining the Soviet setup.
One difference I can think of is the need to look over your shoulder constantly that the Left requires. The DEI department is really no different than a Soviet political officer. There’s something stifling produced by requiring a person’s soul in addition to their work, with being an outcast the sure result of any violation of norms. Was the 1960s space program less stifling? Certainly not for the people who thrived in it. Is there a difference between a modern DEI catechism and the WASP protocol from before? It’s obvious that ‘diversity’ is a code word for replacement of a monoculture by another.
Maybe it’s simply that to Get Shit Done, you not only need a hivemind of similar people, but that those people need to come from a high functioning society.

You have to wonder if the Founding Fathers foresaw this kind of thing.
“DIANNE FEINSTEIN, 89, returned to Congress this week, ending an almost three-month medical absence that highlighted her advanced age and deteriorating health. But her decline, and the problems it entails for American democracy, date back farther and go deeper than has been publicly known.
Multiple sources tell Rolling Stone that in recent years Feinstein’s office had an on-call system — unbeknownst to Feinstein herself — to prevent the senator from ever walking around the Capitol on her own. At any given moment there was a staff member ready to jump up and stroll alongside the senator if she left her office, worried about what she’d say to reporters if left unsupervised. The system has been in place for years…..”

Of course, their worldview didn’t include a leviathan federal government, so maybe it didn’t matter.

The fact that Trump failed in his attempt to use it for political leverage by lying about it should tell you something about who the bad actor really was. It was not the State, deep or otherwise. FBI has the laptop contents as well as MAGA operative Steve Bannon. So MAGA and the “deep state” FBI both have the same info. White Supremacy you say……anyone else remember when Senile Joey enjoyed hanging with the Klansmen in the senate…..!
Joe Biden is a born political panderer. It’s how he won the Democratic Party nomination, and it played a large role in his victory over Donald Trump.
Telling people what they want to hear is a political skill that most politicians possess. But there may never have been a politician as adept and skilled as Joe Biden in pandering to voters based on their race, their gender, their sexual identity, or any other aspect of their personhood that can be sliced, diced, and pureed to create a message tailor-made for a particular Democratic constituency.
Biden gave the commencement address to the historically black college of Howard University on Saturday and turned on the pander up to “10” in his bid to win over his audience.
Biden discussed racism and said that hatred “never goes away” and only “hides under the rocks.” “A vivid demonstration when it comes to race in America, hope doesn’t travel alone. It’s shadowed by fear, by violence, and by hate,” he said.
Well that’s just Joe……bullshitting gullible idiots (cough, cough psul Emery….cough) for fun and profit for over fifty years!

Last week, President Biden reiterated his willingness to negotiate over the budget but not the debt ceiling. It’s a lie.
Dealing With Repeat Liars
The amusing thing is Biden says he recognizes a need to cut the budget.
But one thing we have repeatedly learned is that his words are meaningless. He pledged to be a moderate Democrat, he pledged to be a consensus builder, he pledged to not carry on the divisive tactics of President Trump.
And just ask Joe Biden what happened to his energy agreement once he signed off on the absurdly-named Inflation Reduction Act.
In an op-ed to the Wall Street Journal, Joe Manchin says he was betrayed by President Biden.
On March 29, I commented Senator Joe Manchin Feels Betrayed by President Biden, Told Ya So Joe
Just Not Now
After Biden modified the IRA rules by executive order, I noted The Inflation Reduction Act Price Jumps From $385 Billion to Over $1 Trillion
One of Senator Manchin’s main concerns was the cost of the program. That cost went up over 2.5 times and Manchin did not even get what was pledged on pipelines.
So when president Biden says he is willing to negotiate on debt but only after the ceiling is raised, rest assured it’s a lie.
There is still no plan on the table, but meetings are supposed to resume this week. Hmm, what happened to the idea we were making progress by cancelling meetings?

lmfao. If this guy didn’t exist, you’d have to invent him.

As he pits Americans against one another.
His old boss Obama was a past master at that.
He spewed little but venom and poison.

What happened to the determination to find the root cause/origin of the Wuhan virus? Don’t see much in the news anymore. Spanish flu & abortions have killed more humans, so 7M dying from Wv must not be important.

“It’s like I said, we don’t need no new laws! The free market will always solve society’s problems!”
-RL Crabb ‘toon in The Union..
The person saying the above is a stand-in 15.07strawman idiot, complete with flannel shirt and bad grammar, walking by a Kevlar Kids store display window. Crabbman doesn’t say what law he was supporting, but I’d guess it’s an AR-15 ban.
California’s “assault weapons ban” is believed to be on the verge of being overturned (again) by Judge Roger Benitez. We shall see.

A former executive at ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, says the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had “supreme access” to all data held by the Chinese tech company, including on servers in the United States.
Yintao “Roger” Yu, a former head of engineering at Bytedance in the United States, says the CCP had a special office inside the company, called the “Committee,” which monitored Bytedance and its TikTok subsidiary and “guided how it advanced core Communist values,” according to the complaint obtained by CNN.
The suit also claims that Bytedance made user data accessible to the CCP via a backdoor channel, and that it didn’t matter where the in the world the data was located.
Yu also said that he had witnessed Bytedance being “responsive to the CCP’s requests” to share, elevate, and even remove content. The former executive also described the Chinese tech company as “useful propaganda tool” for Beijing’s communist leaders.

Gregory 2:03 – “Crabbman doesn’t say what law he was supporting,…”
Of course not. Because he hasn’t got a friggin clue. It’s all just moral posturing for his audience. “I’m against children being shot”!! Oh, whoopee. Probably stayed up all night to figure that out. It does as much good as putting the ‘Free Tibet’ bumper sticker on your car and then voting for the potato that sold himself out to the CCP.
