[Good news department. It turns out that if you drink both modestly and regularly, then all kinds of health benefits can accrue to you. For most men that means no more than two drinks (wine, beer, whiskey) a day, and no more than one drink a day for women – a drink contains about 12-14 grams of alcohol. Hallelujah! (More here) gjr]

You know, a tricky thing on youtube anymore is how to avoid MSM. It tends to give youtube a leftward bent, but there’s a lot of Foxnews on there too. I’ve got zero interest in talking heads in a studio somewhere cherry picking some video footage. The real value is some-dude-on-the-street with a cellphone, but it waay harder to track down anymore

HOW TO HUMILIATE A LIBERAL IN 10 SECONDS OR LESS
“At a private Manhattan fundraiser in 2016, then-candidate Hillary Clinton famously described Donald Trump supporters as “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it.” This was Clinton’s updated version of former President Barack Obama’s snide remark in 2008 about the people living in small-town Pennsylvania, whom he depicted as bitter folks who “cling to guns or religion or antipathy.”
Liberals are fond of making these blanket statements about Republicans and conservatives because they know if they are repeated enough times, they will stick. And they have. This characterization is now commonly accepted wisdom among the Left.
Democrats also know they will never be asked to support these claims with specifics. Evidence is not required.“

You have to admit that sluicing money into the schools and midnight basketball offers plenty of opportunities for your brother-in-law to get a good job, no attendance required. It’s probably always been a feature of cities.
Given that Chicago already spends $29k/student/year and Idaho spends $8300, my guess is that the best answer is to give the Chicago school systems more fundage.
lol. When I think about the quality of my own high school’s facilities (average. not heinous, not great) and compare that with some of those magnetcollegeprep schools in cities stuffed with teens and youths, it’s enough to make you laugh. We were as poor as church mice.

The 9th circuit no less HAHA! –
A federal appeals court ruled unanimously Monday that a natural gas ban proposed by the City of Berkeley, California, would illegally circumvent federal law.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that Berkeley’s natural gas piping ban, which the city’s government passed in 2019 as part of its climate agenda, violated the federal Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) of 1975. By banning gas pipes in new building construction, the city effectively violated the EPCA which prevents local regulations from impacting the energy use of natural gas appliances.
“Instead of directly banning those appliances in new buildings, Berkeley took a more circuitous route to the same result,” Judge Patrick Bumatay wrote in the opinion of the court Monday. “It enacted a building code that prohibits natural gas piping into those buildings, rendering the gas appliances useless.”

GOP turns tables on Dems as Biden administration loses track of thousands of migrant children
“House Republicans are expected to grill Office of Refugee Resettlement director at hearing Tuesday on HHS failure to vet, monitor and track unaccompanied migrant children, whose arrival at the border has grown more than 10-fold under Biden.
Four years after Democrats made political hay out of migrant children being separated from their parents at the border, Republicans have turned the tables on the issue amid evidence the Biden administration has lost track of as many as 85,000 minors it allowed to enter the country unaccompanied by parents, leaving many prey to cartel extortion, forced labor, abuse and trafficking.”

Here’s Fox’s statement admitting that they lied.
“Fox’s statement said. “We acknowledge the Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false. This settlement reflects FOX’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards. We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues.”

Realistically, it’s a business decision based on the likelihood of winning a lawsuit.
I don’t know what the actual details in the case were (and neither do you of course), but a company running elections is a funny case. Should you be allowed to say any old thing about something that is innately political in nature? Team Blue radio/tv/internet news are certainly able to make wild claims about Republican politicians without dire consequences. I wonder what the edge really is.
Just imagine the uproar if an oil pipeline or fracking company went after everyone who made untrue claims about them. What if Rise Gold did?
That would be amazing. A Rise Gold lawsuit against everyone writing one of those heart-felt columns in the newspaper that were willfully incorrect in any way.
Honestly, I’m not really sure what the rules should be.

“The eye-popping $787.5 million sum is enormous in the annals of defamation cases, but with Fox claiming some $4 billion in cash on hand in its most recent quarterly earnings report, it’s not exactly going to bankrupt the company. And there did not appear to be any provision in the settlement deal requiring any kind of apology from Fox or from any of its most visible figureheads like Maria Bartiromo or Tucker Carlson.”

I agree. They looked at the situation and made a business decision. They stated that they ‘acknowledge the Court’s rulings’ which is to say that they understand them.
They might be guilty as all hell of something, although I’m not quite sure what that is and how it’s different than 1000 other similar situations.
Personally, I’d dump voting machines in a New York minute if I were running matters. Not enough chances for auditing, too many chances for chicanery.
