   It’s funny how many opportunities we’ve found to reuse old phrases, given Team Blue’s proclivities.
   One is ‘blackwashing’. Netflix’s ‘Cleopatra’ is just the latest, but there are plenty of meme’s of the other umpteen examples.
   Another is ‘womanface’ as opposed to ‘blackface’, lotsa funny Twitter posts about that dude Dylan Mulvaney.
   Both of those could make genius editorial cartoons. Just sayin’.

   Crabby is spinning as usual.
   Proof positive there’s a difference between supporting workers and hating the filthy rich.
   Are you saying (as Punchy likes to say) that the plaintiff settled for less than 50 cents on the dollar for no reason? That there was a risk that a first amendment based argument would get it overturned on appeal if a jury found a’gin Fox?

    Seems like the Egyptians are not ok with a woke cleopatra depiction –
    A lawyer has filed a complaint that accuses African Queens: Queen Cleopatra of violating media laws and aiming to “erase the Egyptian identity”.
    But when the trailer was released last week many Egyptians condemned the depiction of Cleopatra.
    Zahi Hawass, a prominent Egyptologist and former antiquities minister, told the al-Masry al-Youm newspaper: “This is completely fake. Cleopatra was Greek, meaning that she was light-skinned, not black.”
    Mr Hawass said the only rulers of Egypt known to have been black were the Kushite kings of the 25th Dynasty (747-656 BC).
    “Netflix is trying to provoke confusion by spreading false and deceptive facts that the origin of the Egyptian civilisation is black,” he added and called on Egyptians to take a stand against the streaming giant.
    On Sunday, lawyer Mahmoud al-Semary filed a complaint with the public prosecutor demanding that he take “the necessary legal measures” and block access to Netflix’s services in Egypt.
    He alleged that the series included visual material and content that violated Egypt’s media laws and accused Netflix of trying to “promote the Afrocentric thinking… which includes slogans and writings aimed at distorting and erasing the Egyptian identity”.

    lmao. Grifters gonna grift. What a piece of work she must be in person. You do have to wonder how much money is wasted on these people in both gubmint and corporations (thanks to folks like Larry Fink/BlackRock).
    Honestly, I don’t see any change in Democrats and proto-Democrats using a heckler’s veto at every opportunity. It makes me wonder what opportunities there might be for heckler-proof lectures…redesign of halls, use of higher fidelity sound systems and video. There really isn’t as much need to do mass audience public speaking as there used to be.
    Generally, I’d say that the Red Guard needs a big ol’ group of primates in one place to get that revolutionary fervor going. There’s probably a larger point to be made here about the importance to Leftists of human density, it’s never been a philosophy that played well outside of mob thinking.

    Baked into the cake I’m afraid. Government spending is close to 50% of GDP recently and, post the COVID bump, will be permanently there and beyond in a couple of decades. Not to mention metastasizing regulatory apparatus.
    A poorly handled Great Depression and WWII appears to have broken the system I’d say, and the whole machine is a profit engine for small highly-targeted groups. Taxpayers have little to say, but non-profits, teachers unions, industry looking for handouts, etc. can get what they want. A world of lampreys. Legislators are rewarded for bringing home the bacon to someone, not fiscal responsibility.
    If some big disaster (war, Yellowstone Caldera, big solar flare, AI apocalypse, whatever) doesn’t veer the path, a currency collapse surely will. When, not if, is the question.
    tl;dr Nothing to be done. Lie back and enjoy the ride.

    Heck, Ramesses the Great was a ginger. Maybe Ma’at needed two feathers.
    The thing with Cleopatra is that her ancestry is known about as well as anyone in the world. No confusion here.
    But that’s not the point really. If you are working at emptying out a culture, messing with their canon is mandatory. I think I’m most upset by the black Achilles. You might as well cast Hardy Krüger as MLK.
