‘Biden admin removing most surveillance balloons at southern border due to cost: sources’
Sources told Fox News that the number of balloons is being reduced from 12 to just four
But the reduction of balloons at the land border comes as the U.S. continues to be wracked by an ongoing migrant crisis. There were more than 2.3 million encounters in FY 2022, and nearly 600,000 gotaways — illegal immigrants who slipped past Border Patrol agents.
Several sources told Fox News that the loss of the aerostats would have an immediate negative impact on border security, and warned that cartels and smugglers would take advantage.
“You can never beat persistent situational awareness,” one Border Patrol agents told Fox News. “They are a great tool.””

Round and round we go. Mr. Russ Steele and others covered this before, yet the hits just keep on coming. Asian students are underrepresented in school expulsions. So are white devils. It only takes one rotten apple to spoil the whole learning environment in a classroom.

Trump demonstrably attempted in multiple ways to interfere with / overturn a Democratic election, which is a hallmark of a fascist leader.
Lack of success doesn’t denigrate the effort or intention.
Other characteristics he shared with past fascist regimes:
Powerful and continuing Nationalism
Disdain for recognition of human rights
Identification of enemies/ scapegoats as a unifying cause
Rampant sexism
Disdain for intellectuals and the arts
He totally sucked up to fascist dictators in public, remember his Helsinki performance?

Of course the illegal election law changes in many areas were OK because they helped the “correct” person to win.

“Distain for intellectuals.” —Don Tea @ 9:37 am
Well, wake up and smell the roses. For all, some Thomas Sowell quotes:
“The more I study the history of intellectuals, the more they seem like a wrecking crew, dismantling civilization bit by bit — replacing what works with what sounds good.”
“Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.”
“Virtually no idea is too ridiculous to be accepted, even by very intelligent and highly educated people, if it provides a way for them to feel special and important. Some confuse that feeling with idealism.”
“The next time some academics tell you how important diversity is, ask how many Republicans there are in their sociology department.”
“What have the intellectuals actually done for society – and at what cost? . . .The areas in which we have seen great advances – science, industry, and medicine, for example – are largely areas outside the scope and influence of intellectuals, as the term has been used here. In areas more within the scope and influence of the intelligentsia, such as education, politics and the law, we have seen significant, and even dangerous, retrogressions.”
“It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.”
“People who enjoy meetings should not be in charge of anything.” (Yes!)
“As a young Marxist in college during the 1950s heyday of the anti-Communist crusade led by Senator Joseph McCarthy, I had more freedom to express my views in class, without fear of retaliation, than conservative students have on many campuses today”

Interesting take on the trend: local populism. It’s something we can see with our own eyeballs. How big or small is the trend I cannot say from my view from my locale, since I don’t live in flyover country nor the urban jungles or the Cul-de-Sac suburbia with malls from sea to shining sea. While not a Left-Right political issue the author claims, it does challenge the Lefty mantra of ‘Think global, act local’ or ‘Think globally, act locally’ if you prefer.

“Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.” T Sowell.
It seems well suited to failure to me. There’s the normal arguments about the difficulties in producing societies run by altruism, but I think there’s a deeper problem.
From my understanding, unlike other systems of government and large-scale human organization, ‘socialism’ was defined/dreamed up before the fact. Everything else, market economies, republics run by an elite, real-deal monarchies, existed for millennia before a name was invented to describe them.
Socialism is an invention that was cooked up in coffee shops, libraries, backrooms of boarding houses mostly during the 19th C. There are a number of parents but the resulting stew of the thing is what it is.
Lacking any kind of deep history to knock off the rough edges, work out the kinks, it becomes a kind of secular religion that requires a strong arm of enforcement and salesmanship. Naturally, part of the timing is the decline in the interest in religion and attempts to apply science to group behaviors at about the same time. With sufficient work and ‘real’ socialism, utopia can be found on Earth, requiring no heaven.

Los Angeles restaurant stops accepting cash over crime fears
……”Homestate wouldn’t be forced to make a decision like this if the crime rates weren’t so high. Every time they are robbed, the owner’s insurance rates go up. And restaurants already operate on very thin margins to begin with so they can remain competitive.
Homestate was basically facing a choice between ending cash transactions or shutting down. The same decision has faced many other businesses as well. Multiple Walgreens pharmacies in California have simply shut down because they were being robbed so often. Fast food outlets have been shuttering some of their operations in the Golden State for the same reason.“

re: Egg prices. Humans are adaptable. From group e-Mail
What attracts large crowds in Wyoming? The feed stores when it gets baby chicks. I have been to three stores where large crowds lined up to get chicks. Twice by the time it was my turn, all varieties of hens were sold out. Happily, I was in Northern Colorado on business and purchased four Saphire Gems. The clerk told me they got a shipment of 1200 birds, and they expected to be sold out in just a few hours.
Do you think the price for a dozen eggs ($7.99) has anything to do with it? At the local supermarket, I wanted to purchase a dozen ages. The clerk told me that they first needed to do a credit check. Another clerk, on a different day, told me where I could get a home loan to purchase eggs. (Yes, both said this jokingly).
Our dog, Sam, seems just slightly too interested in the new chicks.

re: FBI walks back traditional Catholics are terrorists.

‘3 Warning Signs The FBI Might Label You A ‘Radical Traditionalist’ Christian’
“Intelligence analysts and the chief counsel for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Richmond, Virginia field office are concerned “radical-traditionalist Catholics” are a threat to our democracy and could be ripe for recruitment by white supremacists.
Although FBI headquarters has tried to distance itself from the memo, that does not change the fact that multiple staffers, including a senior attorney, signed off on the intelligence bulletin. That bulletin relied on an Atlantic article about rosary prayer beads being a “weapon” and the grifting hate group called the Southern Poverty Law Center. The retraction does not remove the attitude within the Richmond field office that Catholics who like the Latin Mass or hold conservative views are threats“

Law enforcement agency says memo “does not meet the exacting standards of the FBI.”
The memo appears to have derived some of its intelligence concerns from information from the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center, citing the group’s list entitled “Radical Traditional Catholicism Hate Groups.”
The abrupt reversal by the FBI comes as the House and majority Republicans announced plan to investigate concerns that pro-life Catholics have been targeted by law enforcement for unfair investigations, an allegation the FBI denies.

How about him whining for two years, and 60+ failed lawsuit attempts, that he really won 2020 and still does to this day?
I mean how brain dead does he think his followers are?

A White Employee Is Suing the City of Seattle for Alleged Racial Discrimination
“If I disagreed or offered another opinion, I was told I had cognitive dissonance,” Josh Diemert says…What makes his situation unusual among racial discrimination cases is that Diemert is a white man. His tormenters, he argues, were motivated by so-called antiracism training under the auspices of the city government’s Racial and Social Justice Initiative (RSJI).
“The city of Seattle believes that race representation is paramount, and they believe that people should not be judged by their individuality or their individual actions, but should be judged by their collective race,” says Diemert. “In fact, they say that if you judge people by individuality, that was actually a tool of white supremacy used to oppress people of color.”
The environment Diemert describes is almost too toxic and oppressive to be believed; in his account, Seattle’s RSJI program sounds like a conservative’s nightmare about a progressive workplace—something that would be brutally parodied on South Park or Portlandia. But his complaint is well-supported by hard evidence: actual copies of documents from the bizarre antiracism training that the city uses. Indeed, these documents can still be found on the city’s RSJI website.”

If you thought about it for a second you might realize that the book banning luddites are doing the same thing with books that the luddites did with machinery back in the day. The book banners and burners want to deny book technology freely to students, but are so clueless they don’t understand that the books are available in many other places basically for free also. So it’s obvious to see the only reason they are doing it is to show how unwoke they are which makes sense because the GOP is totally unwoke, as in clueless.

“In 2019, Willoughby ran for city council in District 1 but withdrew from the race before the August primary.”
What kind of pain meds are you on Miss and Grope? What’s half of a half wit? Sorry, to difficult of a question, no need to answer.

Removing The Handmaid’s Tale? Huh, I hadn’t heard that. Sounds like a silly move.
Obviously the book plays to that doom talky talk about HOW ALL THOSE CHRISTIANS ARE GOING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD AND MAKE THE WIMMEN WEAR CHASTITY BELTS.
Older Democrats are big on that one, although the threat seems to have subsided twenty years ago.
of course, Misanthrope sez:”I guess they have never heard of Hulu, or Book Tok on Tic Tok. Fucking Luddites”
probably is just code for saying “kids will just watch scat porn on the interwebz anyhow, just let ’em watch”
Most of the child book uproar has been about stuff that really should be pulled. There’s a lot of gender-uncertain teachers and librarians that are four-square in favor of graphic novels entitled “My First Blowjob” for 7th grade English class, but I’d just as soon public money wasn’t spent.

“Are they fukin kidding”. Sadly, no. Not joking. It’s got so crazy out there with the juggernaut of ridiculous things going from the American Marxists that sometimes a rumor sounds so much like what the insane would say, you just think it’s believable.
For instance, a couple of weeks ago I heard that the WOKE banned Aretha Franklin’s (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman to be sung by artists at the last low low low rated Musical Awards. Or some thing along those lines. Offensive! Anti-trans. Anti GLBTQRTUA-2. I figured it was true. Turns out it was from a little known sarcastic site.
The point being it sounds so much like the Insane that it rang true for me. But, they aren’t fuking joking. They never joke. Serious as a heart attack. Not fun to be around. No siree.

re: Handmaiden’s Tail book.
Yep, the removed Huckleberry Finn from the Burbank school libraries as well back a year or two ago. Their argument against my displease with that decision back then as poised by the Union’s Lefties was you can still read it at the local library, but not in the school library.
Come on people. You can get and read the Handmaiden’s Tails at this link for free.

Missy and her rope 3:35 – “Do they even have indoor plumbing (or the Internet?) in these book banning communities?”
“Book banning communities”?
They didn’t “ban” any book, moron.
Take a deep breath and try to re-read the article.
They didn’t “ban” the Handmaid’s Tale.
Anybody can buy that book or check it out from the local library.
“Fucking Luddites”
No – you’re just an idiot.
The whole thing is M Atwood crying about losing money. Not censorship.
