So, election day 2022 is finally here.  It arrived with a months-long preamble of leftwing lies about the current state of the country and the portents for its future were we to deviate from the sorry road that got us to where we are under this administration.  The question now is how many of us believed the crap spewing from the White House, Congress, and their lamestream lackies.  And yes, it is the most momentous election since I started paying attention in my pre-teen years.  Communists of all stripes used to be pariahs in the American political menagerie.  Not anymore.  Now communism is being taught in our schools as one of the more beneficial ways to organize society after we rid ourselves of the capitalist democratic republic that we have had foisted on us.

The fault is not with our politicians, it lies upon those of us who put them in positions of power.  “A republic, if you can keep it.”

[9nov22 update]  The much-vaunted Red Wave has now turned out to be recognized nationally at best as the Red Ripple – and that appellation is still hopeful since neither the House nor Senate results are yet in.  Our Nevada County went predictably Democratic – RR has acknowledged for years that the county is blue, not quite as badly as California, but close enough for government work.  So what happened yesterday and its weeks-long preamble of early voting was a disaster for our republic.  My takeaways can be enumerated as follows –

    1. The irretrievable decline of our constitutional republic is confirmed. The fraction of our electorate that is terminally ignorant of collectivist governance, economics and capitalism, the beneficial role of entrepreneurship and financial risk, elements of science, American history and history in general, AND the basic skills of literacy and numeracy has now breached the 50% level. (cf National Center for Educational Statistics)
    2. The effectiveness of our progressive educational institutions working in tandem with our compliantly propagandized Fourth Estate is beyond question when it comes to the kind of learning and related behavioral changes that are still possible for our adult population to again support capitalism and American constitutionalism. There is no feasible road back from collectivism and collectivist dogma for a major share of the American electorate whose post-reasonable belief systems have become immune to evidence.
    3. The Republican party is not an effective alternative to the Democrats, and continues to shrink its political efforts to champion the nation’s Right, which currently has no viable alternative through which to seek ideological resurgence.
    4. The fork in the road of our national future lead to autocracy cum tyranny or the Great Divide. The peaceful resolution would be a negotiated Great Divide, the several forms of which have been discussed in these pages.  What stands in the way is that the Right wants to separate from the Left, but the Left wants to prevent separation and favors controlling a subdued, subservient, and shrinking Right.  This is made clear daily by their political leaders and media talking heads.
    5. The above asymmetries to governance and social order are uniform across the land and visible daily even in our little rural county. In today’s Union, its op-ed pages featured a skewed admonishment of the newspaper’s political orientation which has faithfully represented the county’s invasion by coastal liberals who have soiled their former homes.  The paper does print rightwing authors whose sparse offerings are regularly decried for being allowed in print in a community with a majority leftwing population.  Such illustrative responses to inhibit free speech and opposing views are innately foreign to people of the Right.
    6. No matter what the final counts will indicate, this election has proven to be a disaster for Republicans. Never since FDR’s atrocious New Deal policies have we witnessed a more incompetent, corrupt, and corrupting administration with ample evidence of its doings becoming increasingly available over the months.  The hopeful sentiment was that this much government corruption, imbecility, and anti-Americanism will surely make an impact on leftwing constituencies.  The results didn’t pan out and gives proof to the indelible mentality of the main street Left.  (The polls have been worthless, no good ways of random sampling remain in this age of screened telecommunications.)
    7. The only glimmer that has come out so far is some visible migration of Hispanics and blacks away from the devastating inflation and crime that the Biden administration has brought about over the last two years. But even that was not enough keep the wave from turning into at best a ripple.

Coda: Apparently I’m not alone in the assessment of the American electorate.  Stephen Kruiser of PJ Media writes, ‘We're Done–American Voters Are Idiots’.

[15nov22 update] 'Tragically Trump' is Victor Davis Hanson's major essay on the election, the role of Trump, and the Republican Party's future that heavily depends on what Trump will do now.  I don't believe he will go quietly into the dark night of political has-beens.  H/T to commenters who also picked up on VDH's commentary.

Not “hard right”, still just a little ol’ Enlightenment classical liberal Jeffersonian centrist, and the hard left “Progressive” contingent aren’t more than 20% even in Nirvana Silly proper. They’re just loud and obnoxious and have folks cowed.

Well, well, well. That crazy guy from Alta Sierra? That must be Don. I never considered Don B crazy, but then again I never lived next door to the man.
It tells moi a lot when the Left was more surprised about the 2022 mid-terms results than the Right. I guess I missed out on Cassidy Hutchinson because frankly I never heard of him/her. Hobbs? That was a SCOTUS decision, a separate branch of the US Government, not subject to political whims….unless you are Woodrow Wilson, FDR, or an anti-American.
Gotta agree with Scott. The Blue States of Oregon and New York were sweating bullets and shitting bricks. Taking it to their hood. Picked up four Congressional Districts in Long Island alone and AOC is none too happy about that. Lee Zeldin ran a good race and considering the population of Blue Blue NY State, Lee fell short by only 300,000 votes and has nothing to be ashamed about. Nothing.
Herschel Walker is not be the best candidate to run for the Senate, making rookie mistakes as novices do in campaigns, but if Herschel is so awful, why didn’t Warnock get 50% of the vote against such a lousy candidate? Why did not Warnock bury Walker on Nov. 8? Why, why, why????
At least a dummy like Herschel Walker can string two coherent sentences together, which is more than Biden and Fetterman combined are capable of doing. Lots of 51% victories in Blue strongholds. Lots.
Well, it’s before coffee and the Wolf Pack is gathered at the door for some lovins, treats, and attention of this beautiful day. To be continued……

    Continued….
Left Coast Right Wing Watch did give me so hope. Lots of hope. Typical of the Left. While we on the Right are doing our quiet soul searching (individually and collectively), there is none of that on the Left, the Left Coast, nor the Blue Stronghold. Yes, the Left had some voices doing some soul searching BEFORE Nov. 8, none is needed on Nov. 13th.
The underlining issues of a abortion of once was good public education, blatant and brazen broad daylight soaring crime, the open southern border, inflation, faltering economy, 401Ks losing 25% of their value, the planned destruction of our energy independence, the criminalization of speech that the Left does not like to hear, the loss of quality of life, the growing fear of women taking their dogs out for a walk or taking public transportation from sea to shinning sea, the carving out of the middle class in CA creating a feudal system, Blue cities rivaling the streets of Calcutta and 3rd world counties, a politicalized Justice Department used as a weapon against political opponents……all these issues and more remain. Nothing to see here, more on folks. The Left as exemplified by Left Coast’s comments have learned ZERO.
That brings me much hope. My soul searching about the mid-terms bring me to reoccurring thoughts…aside from the election processes in and of themselves. That reoccurring thought is this:
There simply has not been enough pain yet for our Blue friends. There has not been enough murders and rapes in our deteriorating cities, the bite of inflationary policies as not been too severe yet, the falling student test scores falling like a rock hadn’t been too abdominal, the growing government intruding more and more into aspects of people’s lives has not been painful enough…yet and the utter distain for half the population—half of our citizenry by our ideological and clueless Enlightened Lefties. Examples supplied upon requests. The pain will increase and then there will be more R’s squeaking by with 50.8% wins instead of 49.5% loses. That is my opinion.

    Good for you.
In the depression, the Dems utterly failed, by their own admission to do much of any good to end it and yet the proles thought more of the same thing would magically bring a better result.
The Dems just kept blaming the wealthy while the 30s saw the creation of more millionaires than the 20s.
The govt education system has produced the desired result. Uneducated worker drones and useless eaters to fill the cages of the lefty-constructed zoo for them to live in.

The most famous words of President Biden when asked with 70% of the country saying we are heading in the wrong direction and what chance he plans to make…..Biden answered “nothing.” No chances necessary. The economy is strong as hell, inflation is just a word that nobody ever uses until the Republicans made up the word for political purposes in 2022, Black people cannot be racists (impossible).

    Republicans flip Blue Oregon District.
Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer bested Democrat Jamie McLeod-Skinner to take the House seat in Oregon’s 5th District. (just south of Portland City limits to Salem, from Mt. Hood to the coast, fyi)
As of Sunday afternoon, Republicans were leading in nine remaining races across the country and will need to win six of those to get to 218, or possibly win other races where they are not currently leading.
Many of the GOP leads in these nine races are very close and are getting closer over the last few days as the slow counting of mail-in ballots continues.
Six of those nine races are in California, where those slim GOP leads appear to be more at risk of slipping away. In California’s 13th District, for example, Republican John Duarte is leading by fewer than 100 votes, and barely half the votes had been counted as of Sunday.
Republicans have wider leads in many of the other races, but California reported Thursday that millions of votes were still not counted, a fact that has the potential to shake up some of these GOP leads. California has also said it might still be weeks before those races are decided.
Well, our assistant Clerk Recorder did say she has 30 days to count the votes.

Great follow up essay to VDH’s 2019 piece, a Case for Trump.
“Yet for a variety of reasons, both personal and civic, their characters not only should not be altered, but could not be, even if the tragic hero wished to change, given his megalomania and absolutist views of the human experience. In the classical tragic sense, Trump likely will end in one of two fashions, both not particularly good: either spectacular but unacknowledged accomplishments followed by ostracism when he is out of office and no longer useful, or, less likely, a single term due to the eventual embarrassment of his beneficiaries, as if his utility is no longer worth the wages of his perceived crudity.” —The Case for Trump (2019)”

Well, it’s not official about CA03 yet. However, I took a look and the areas included in CA03. Mono County definitely Kermit Country. But….has a low population. What towns besides Bishop and Lone Pine off the top of my head. Owens Valley, eastern Sierra. Alpine County? What, 600 votes for both candidates?
Looking at where the counties where they are, even out whole County is less than CA03’s Sacramento County slice. So, I will call CA03 for the R’s. It’s where the quantity of votes that make a difference are.
    https://www.cnn.com/election/2022/results/california/us-house-district-3
Now, consider this scenario that may come to pass soon enough. All election results are time stamped, including when a particular contest is officially called.
It just may turn out that our little speck on the map, our neck of the woods, was the Congressional District that gave the R’s the majority in the House of Representatives and kicked Nancy in the ass causing her to loose her big gavel. Won’t that be something for bragging rights in Cobalt Blue California. Imagine letting that sink in over on Hits & Misses. :).

    From the twits in ‘frisco:
Who do we consider official sources for election results?
State election officials (as determined by the National Association of Secretaries of State and the National Association of State Election Directors)
National news outlets that have dedicated, independent election decision desks:
    -ABC News
    -Associated Press
    -CBS News
    -CNN
    -Decision Desk HQ <<<<<<<<<<<<
    -Fox News
    -National Election Pool
    -NBC News
    -Reuters
The official Twitter accounts of these news organizations, as well as Tweets directly citing a call from these news organizations, will be exempted from labels about election results.
DDHQ will either be right, or they won’t.

It is beyond me to understand why folks can’t understand Trump’s appeal. You don’t have to like him or even be a conservative. Trump doesn’t play the BS game or worry about what is allowed in polite society. He has all the wealth he will ever need and can not be bought unlike so many other corrupt politicians. He does love this country and he knows what is the best course of action for our nation. It’s too bad he expended so much political capital on trivial BS. It will end up costing him.

‘The Same Old, Same Old Deja Vu’
    By Victor Davis Hanson
“Perhaps the “stunning development” will be similar to the fake “walls are closing in” scoop about the conspiratorial pinging in Trump tower from the Alfa Bank in Russia, or the “game-changer” Christopher Steele-fed, pee-pee, Moscow hotel room fable.
Yet one thing that will be different this time around is that the Biden administration is in power. Garland remains an unapologetic, embittered partisan. He is fresh off siccing a now-weaponized FBI on school kids’ parents and various MAGA enemies of the state.
After two prior failed impeachment trials, a failed special counsel’s investigation, and a failed and biased January 6 committee probe, Washington government lawyers know that their last and only Wile E. Coyote chance of catching the Roadrunner and now presidential candidate Trump is to get at least something into the hands of a Washington, D.C. jury.
We also know the script of the 2024 election from the last two elections. Election Day 2024 (sic) will be an afterthought. Election Night will be an introduction to Election Month.
Sudden ballot “drops” will start pouring in during the wee hours. Voters who went to bed watching many Republican candidates with sizable leads will awake to magical Democratic “comebacks.””

“For the rest of us, the call last night in California’s third CD pushes the number of House Republicans to 221. Kevin Kiley’s 15,527-vote lead with 83% of the ballots counted was enough for an Associated Press call. Kiley beat Kermit Jones by nearly six points in the rural district that hugs the Sierra Nevada:
Republican Kevin Kiley, a state legislator who became a conservative favorite for his pointed and relentless criticism of Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, captured a U.S. House seat Tuesday in northeastern California.
With 83% of ballots counted, Kiley received nearly 53% of the votes to defeat Democrat Kermit Jones, a doctor and Navy veteran.
The win will pad the margin of Republican control in the House. The GOP seized the majority from Democrats last week when California Rep. Mike Garcia was re-elected and gave the party its 218th seat. With Kiley’s victory, the tally stands at 220 Republicans and 212 Democrats.”

Looks like Hershel Walker is a classic Carpetbagger. The Repubs sure know how to pick um. Another loser heading Trumps way.
“Herschel Walker, the Republican candidate for a U.S. Senate seat, is set to receive a tax exemption for maintaining his primary residence in Texas even though he is running for election and living in Georgia, according to public records.
CNN first reported Wednesday that Walker is set to get a homestead tax exemption in Texas for 2022, saving him about $1,500. The exemption applies only to Texans’ primary residence.
