Administrivia – Typepad blog servers were down this morning. The response was a long duration spinner followed by a 502 or 503 error message. It looks like multiple comment post clicks were qued up on some intermediate server, and then transmitted and executed when Typepad came back online.

Iranian officials are reportedly attempting to secure British passports for their families to exit the country as many violent protests over the death of an Iranian woman in police custody for not wearing a head covering surpassed 40 days.
Top government officials in Iran have been chartering up to “five flights a day” for their families as they seek “British passports” to get them out of the country, Express.co.uk reported on Thursday.
Additionally, the outlet says that sections of Tehran’s main airport have been commandeered by government forces to fast track their families escape from the protest-ridden country.
“It started around two weeks ago,” an Iranian source told the outlet. “The regime changed all security detail at the airport. They were moving civilians (friends and family) from the back entrance of the airport directly to the airplanes for international flights, at least five flights a day.”

Heavy.com, a fact-finding website, highlighted a tweet from a Mission Local journalist Joe Eskenazi that stated: “My sources also name the suspect in this morning’s hammer attack on Paul Pelosi as David DePape, born 1980, of Berkeley. He would appear to be a former Castro nudist protester. Things appear set to be bizarre for a while.”
The report highlighted a 2013 article San Francisco Chronicle in which the same man appears to have been mentioned, although his name is spelled wrong in the article but is spelled correctly in the captions of the one of the photos included in the article. The article described him as a “hemp jewelry maker.””

Why start at AI or transhumanism?
Someday folks will understand that all humans tend towards ‘evil’ as a natural path. Do wild animals care about who or what they kill to keep their bellies full? They’ll even eat their own young. It is only civilization and the transcendent idea of good and bad that keep in place that very, very thin veneer of peacefulness and calm we all like to have in our lives. I doubt it will ever happen, but maybe someday society will teach first of all to the children that they need to constantly guard against the tyranny that lurks in us all and in some folks it becomes the overwhelming desire. The founding fathers knew this well and tried to keep us protected from the “well meaning” control freaks. Justice Jackson referenced above at 9:10 is the perfect example. She differs from Putin and Xi only in her abilities – not one whit in her desires.
